People don't like hearing foreign languages. It makes them feel isolated and paranoid

    Diversity encompasses humanity.

Why stunt oneself in a timid, constricting acceptance of merely a familiar sliver of sameness?

“Each of us inevitable, Each of us limitless—each of us with his or her right upon the earth,
Each of us allow'd the eternal purports of the earth, Each of us here as divinely as any is here.”

"I am large, I contain multitudes."

    ― Walt Whitman

Why do you think it is a problem?

It is where swine of a feather find contentment.

I don't know why you have a problem with it.

In the United States, every citizen has equal rights, and so diversity is a consequence of the law of the land.

If some don't like it, they can kvetch.

Or we could segregate ourselves in comfortable monocultural communities. This is what actually happens. And it is the diversocrats who kvetch.

What do you mean by diversity? Because your sentence, "In the United States, every citizen has equal rights, and so diversity is a consequence of the law of the land," doesn't make sense under what I would call the standard usage of the word diversity. Do you have some sort of personal use of the word that you are referring to?

I think Natty will call the cops if you don't like diversity.

Well he has to define it first, and I don't think he can do that. All he can do is quote Vice President Dan Quayle and bleat, "Diversity is our strength."

Some like to isolate themselves from the diverse American populace, of course.

I appreciate varied perspectives, and like to maximize the talent pool in the public sphere in the interests of the nation.

Indeed, under the U.S. Constitution, every citizen in our diverse population, regardless of race, ethnicity, or gender is guaranteed equal rights.

Efforts to increase diversity are diluting the talent pool. @Golem doesn't want to detect talent with tests
CA is dumbing down math for the sake of diversity.

Why do you claim that "Efforts to increase diversity are diluting the talent pool"?

Discriminating against Americans based upon race, ethnicity, gender, or other prejudicial factors clearly reduces the size of the talent pool.

For many years, excluding Black Americans and female Americans from contributing their talents to serve the nation ill-served the nation.

I already told you why. Efforts to increase diversity has led to the abandonment of testing to identify talent and to the dumbing down of math courses in CA and elsewhere.

I grew up in the Detroit area. In metro Detroit, there is an enormous Arabic/Middle Eastern population in a suburb called Dearborn, and obviously the city of Detroit has an enormous black population. The rest of Metro Detroit can be mostly titled mixed white with a small sprinkling of Asian.

The city of Dearborn was well known for being anti-black with the police department and its residents. It was also well known that Blacks did not venture into Dearborn despite their cities being adjacent.

There used to be a teen dance club that attracted people from all over. The Blacks and Arabs notoriously did not get along, but at this teen dance club there were large segments of Blacks, Arabs, and the mixed bag of white kids that attended every weekend. This place was a powder keg. Trouble happened literally every weekend, mostly in the form of fights and even a few stabbings, and it happened between the groups. Most of it was between the Arabs and Blacks, but the mixed group of white kids would get involved/ensnared in it from time to time as well. The reality was that if you fought one Middle Eastern guy you fought them all, and the same thing applied to the Black kids. The white kids had no such unwritten pact.

I know cool story bro, but there is an operative point here. The cultural diversity in that club is what created most of those problems. If you had just one of those groups there, the problems would have been far less.

I am not saying this to claim that diversity should be ended or anything of that sort, but I am saying it to illustrate that diversity undeniably creates problems when cultures clash. It is impossible to credibly claim that it does not create legitimate problems. That teen club was a microcosm of the entire metro area.

Your biased perspective aside, diverse Americans achieve great things collectively, despite tribalism causing some to feel contempt toward the "other."

The egalitarian ideal is far preferable to divisive sentiments.
