I just found a quick and easy (20 question) spot on the web that claims to give the answer, so of course had to try it out--

    http://www.free-iqtest.net

If you try it I recommend using a birthdate slightly different from your real one for the sake of confidentiality.

I tested out at 138, which is about 33 points higher than I would have guessed, as I have a very poor short term memory.

I do not know my IQ. I have never taken a test. I dont see the point because I will not believe the score. No matter what an IQ test tells me I sure that I will think I am smarter.

I wonder what short term memory has to do with your intelligence. My guess is nothing.

Plus there are different kinds of intelligence right?

I do not think you should allow the test to have any power over you. Unless you are happy with the result.

edit - I always wondered of Doogie Howser was really so smart or if it was just his eidetic memory. Being able to remember stuff doesnt make you smart - it just means that you have a good memory. I think this is why so many 'intelligent' people are so stupid. I would also argue that memory is less important to the highly intelligent so we can afford to give memory less importance - but the average intelligence types know that they must try to remember every word - know what I mean?

edit - Do you remember that Megamemory infomercial that had Danny Bonaduce? Apparently you can improve your memory if you are worried about it.

Oh - what is that website? Luminosity. You could join Luminosity and train your brain too and this might give you a higher score. Have you ever visited Luminosity? It is a brain training website.

edit - People that end up on Luminosity would probably be insecure types in my opinion that are prone to using the amygdala which is a primitive part of the brain associated with fear and distrust - and insecurity. Right? These people are probably not the best decision makers or thinkers in my opinion.

And arent IQ tests culturally biased? I remember Shaquille ONeal saying that in the movie Blue Chips when I went to see it back when I was a 15 year old teenager.

I'm unclear how they would be. Asians seem to do better on them then the American and European psychologists that designed them.

I'm on my second glass of wine and decided to randomly guess all the answers and got 105. Perhaps it isn't possible to go below 100?

I didn't took this test yet but the two last ones I did scored at 131 and 130, respectively. I'll try this one later on.

I think I was tested around that long ago but also have a terrible memory. Since my memory is bad and I am totally not organized my creativity excelled.

Nobody's bidness is what. Not even my own.My I.Q. tole me as mush
in one me dreams. That If I dared confess as to my true I.Q. I could lose
by margin or error ,points every day until I fess up.
Meaning I'd have to rent out a huge public venue like an auditorium and
invite the public and have a buffet setup and a wet bar.
Then before everyone got too loaded I'd have to set the record straight.
Of course that would also require a brass band and a public address MC.
It might also reguire some side attraction like the Flory Dory Girls and a
    nice magic act.Plus a raffle..
So ... you can see the problems ... involved.
I'll just keep it to myself for now, since I forgot what my I.Q. is or was
anywho.I think it might have been in the double digits. But maybe that was
for parking.Since in some my dreams I have to carry enough change for
    Parking.Is all.

Do they score higher on Emotional Intelligence IQ tests? I will google it. I cant find anything conclusive but Asians themselves admit that they are not very creative. It has a lot to do with their authoritarian society in my opinion. Do you see what I am getting at?

And how would Asians do on the Black Intelligence Test of Cultural Homogeneity ( (*)(*)(*)(*)(*) )? My guess is not as well as they do in regular IQ tests.

Why arent Asians creative do you think?

edit - In China, if you are a wealthy guy driving home from work and you accidentally hit a pedestrian but he doesnt die - you make sure to back over him so that you cannot be identified. This is quite common in China. It has something to do with their culture in my opinion.

"The true sign of intelligence is not knowledge but imagination." - Albert Einstein

Asians have no imagination. It has something to do with communism in my opinion. Look at communist architecture. Wasnt it the great American imagination that was key to defeating communism? I think that it was.

Asians are great at remembering things - and they know that they need to - but they cant seem to think for themselves.

I think we get higher IQ scores as adults and IQ tests are designed for pupils. An online IQ test first gave me 129 and after correcting one easy mistake, the final result was 134. When I took the IQ test at 15, it was only 120. Back then, I could not finish a book I borrowed from a school library in a day but I can read books under 300 pages within an hour now.

I'd rather not know mine - I left school without a single qualification, and the words uttered by my head teacher are still ringing in my ears: 'I confidently predict, young Cerberus, that you are going to be one of life's losers.' [IMG] [IMG]

I wish my name was Cerberus.

My teachers have been right about me so far. :)

edit - ages and stages of development do differ from child to child though. I think I have a late blooming schemata. Im sure I will prove them wrong in the end.

Part of an I.Q. should be things that aren't often considered.
Like a sense of humor.I mean, what good does raw intelligence do one
outside a laboratory with their white smock and spectacles.
Wisdom is not part of I.Q. yet that is what most great men regard in the field of
Philosophy and Theology almost critical. If one goes thru life with a high I.Q.
and aren't wiser for it toward the end, then they are failures.

" To know how to grow old is the master-work
of wisdom, and one of the most difficult chapters in the great art
    of living. " -- Henri Amiel { Swiss philosopher }

I scored 120. The only other times I was tested were in my junior year in high school when I scored a 128 and 132 on separate tests. Seems I haven't lost too many brain cells since if it's accurate. I couldn't do the number series questions at all for some reason they made my brain hurt, I just took a wild guess and skipped to the next question.

I got a 143, but the test was mostly pattern recognition. It's stuff I do every day at work, pattern recognition, not online IQ tests. It's down to training and practice, not innate intelligence.

Over the years I've noticed a definite correlation between a good sense of humor and high intelligence.

You do know that online tests give you the results everybody wants so that you will share them. If they gave you the "You are about the same as Banjo Boy From Deliverance" answer you would not share them and they would not get traffic to their site to create the ad revenue they want.

I thought the subject of the thread was IQ, not "emotional IQ" or creativity.

However is it good to know one's I.Q. Talk about Kids and self-esteem.
What If a kid is told at a young age { Preteen } how precious, precocoious and
    smart they are.It could be tragic.Like in the Movie - The Bad Seed - { 1956 }
Plus what good does it do_One can't really change their I.Q. can they.
Like the way a person can practice and practice until they master something.
Maybe playing the Piano or an instrument.Or their voice.Their acting chops.
I.Q. is really nothing more than a baseline indicator.Plus it doesn't mean squat.
The areas that test I.Q. don't take into consideration that different parts of the
brain control different skills.Like a Math genius or a Literary genius.
They both could be weak in the other's area.Like a Math whizz could be a poor speller.
A Spelling champ ,bad with numbers.

Well I don't think IQ is about self esteem or feeling good about yourself. I think it's a tool for schools and educators to use to determine the ability to learn subjects at a particular pace. If it were used for tracking students by ability it would be a great tool that would benefit the student.

I don't think that I.Q. tests are used at school.I remember that in my era,the
schools were mandated to use what were called - Aptitude Tests -.
They both test for " G " general intelligence. Not on an ability to learn but rather
    to apply knowledge or recall.
Again ... No one was born knowing anything.Or how to do anything.
We have to teach ourselves the knowhow.
    Like in the Movie - The Hustler - where George C. Scott tells Fast Eddie {Newman}
he was a born loser." Sure you got drunk. You have the best excuse in the world
for losing. All you gotta do is learn to feel sorry for yourself. One of the best indoor
sports, feeling sorry for yourself.A sport enjoyed by all, especially the born losers. "
Scott asks Fast Eddie .... " Do you think Fats was born knowin' how to drink. "
