The last couple of Presidents haven't impressed us or the world very much as far as integrity. Which President do you see as the biggest liar, all things considered. Can you give a few examples? I'm tempted to go with Bill Clinton with that wonderfully classic statement about not having "sex with that woman...". But then there's President Obama's If you like your health care plan, youll be able to keep your health care plan, period. No one will take it away, no matter what. - and a zillion others like it. Then there's President Bush's global insistence on the existence (hey, that rhymes ) of WMD and how we're all gonna die if we don't properly invade Iraq - though that may have been more a case of ignorance trumping deliberate deception. Not sure about that one. I guess I'll have to go with Obama out of a profound respect for the sheer quantity of his lies, over Clinton and his deceptionem magnam. So what's your pick?
How are you measuring it? Based on the actual impact of the lie or the cheekiness of it? "I did not have sex with that woman" (eatiin' ain't cheatin'?) doesn't rank up there with "Iraq is an urgent threat" or "my tax cuts will not cause deficits" in terms of scale, IMO.
Dude - I dunno. Just which liar in chief stands out as the most blatant one, or the most consistent one, or the most infuriating one, or... whatever floats yer boat.
I think it was "I did not have sex with that woman". But we seem to have limited the "lie" to the actual utterances of a president, as opposed to the lie created to affect an end of the administration. and there I would have to raise the old WMD buggaboo Bush blamed for bombing bad Bedouins. But then if its in the history of the US, we have some astonishing liars to consider: FDR, HST, Lincoln, JFK, Wilson....oh, yes we have a few ladies and gentlemen!
That’s tough. It really depends on how you measure it. Clinton’s was the only lie that was a clear cut violation of US law because it was under oath. But though unlawful, it was relatively harmless. Bush’s lies got us into a decade long war that cost thousands of US lives and many more foreign lives. Obama’s lies seem to have been to swing the People over to his side in order to affect policy, which is certainly bad. But as far a pure damage, I believe Bush’s lies take the cake. And it is really way to early to say what the effects of Obamacare will be.
Obama's got lying down to a T. This isn't the first time he's lied and it won't be the last (ie - he mysteriously never knows about anything that happens in his administration and he deliberately lied about Obamacare). Not only that, but he's limited his exposure to the Press, refuses to take questions on countless occasions and at other times, just shrugs them off. I guess if he doesn't answer the questions, he doesn't have to be held accountable for anything that happens. Clinton was another one that made lying a part of life. The fact that he was caught in a lie under Oath, while having been impeached, makes one of his lies more glaring and glowing. Bush presumably lied about WMDs in Iraq. How he's attributed with lying is a mystery to me, though. He had the same intel that Congress had, Congress agreed that we should go into Iraq and so we did. How is it a lie to believe the intel and follow up on it and isn't Congress at fault, as well? That being said, Housein was given every opportunity to prove he didn't have WMDs and he didn't cooperate. Definitely a situation that's not as cut and dry. Bush certainly wasn't the most fiscally or socially conservative President this country has ever had and I disagreed with a lot of what he did, but calling him a liar for bad intel? That's just unwarranted.
This may come as a complete shock to you and your straw man, but Mr Bush does not rank high on my list of admirable fellows.
I think it's funny that anyone believes any politician tells the truth. Why do people even bother acting surprised when a politician lies?
The president who had the most scandals, who had the most people leave his administration under a cloud of indictment, was Ronald Reagan. It's not even close.
I voted twice for him as governor and he was a fair to middling good governor. He did sign a concealed weapons carry law. I voted for him twice for President, but considering Ali Baba Gore and John Skerry was his opponents, that was a no brainer. He was not a good President, though.
Most of the PF left's accusations, whining, and stupid claims are based on assumption. No need to be the one to apologize for it. Did anyone seem shocked ?
I understand. I fell the same way when it comes to the GOP offerings. I vote simply to cancel out a voter on the Republican side. It's my civic duty.
I am voting Obama based off of my own personal experience. I will admit that I voted for him the first time. I was never so hyped about voting for someone with all the change he promised. I was immediately let down as his changes were either not true at all or partially true at best. I didnt vote in the last one because I couldnt bear to vote for Obama or Romney. And now I find myself leaning more and more towards Republicans as the next election comes. Of course you repubs had better give me something better than Romney to re-affirm that vote.
Seeing a republican running, and voting against him/her, is all I need to do. Republicans coddle the rich. I'm not rich. Easy vote.
I dunno, Clinton getting Laid didn't effect my life much, Obama's Lie will effect our economy forever, the man is not just a Liar but a Crook. I'm thinking impeachment here, he has stolen from millions of hard working Americans, and STILL is lying. I'm starting to wonder about his perception of reality, somethings not right. Most Presidents fess up, this guy is doubling down,,the arrogance is amazing.
