if abortion were ever re-criminalized in the US. The obvious move for women seeking abortion would be...northward, across the Canadian border. While Canada doesn't provide free health care for foreign visitors, almost all the provinces fully fund abortion services, particularly the ones on the US/Canada border. So while the rightwing Nativists dream of a "Berlin Wall on the Rio Grande"....the "pro-lifers" will have to dream of one stretching down the St. Lawrence Seaway all the way to British Columbia. One to try to keep people from coming in....the other trying to prevent them from getting out.

Hypothetically, a woman can take her baby to another country and kill it there, that does not mean the woman cannot be prosecuted for it in her home country. There was one case a while back where a man in the U.K. "married" a young girl and then the parents took the girl to Afghanistan, as per the agreed upon arrangement, and the man "consummated" the marriage abroad. The perpetrator still ended up getting charged for the offense in the U.K. Why would it be any different if a woman fled with her unborn child to another country in an attempt to kill it?
HOW would it be determined that she left the country while pregnant? A probe at every airport and men stationed along our borders to force women to have pregnancy checks before leaving? That's a lot of Very Angry Women to deal with. Women just not allowed to travel if they could possibly get pregnant? That's a lot of Very Angry Women to deal with Women FORCE checked when they re enter the country to make sure they're still pregnant? That's a lot of Very Angry Women to deal with NOW, WHY would your little story be different? Because, see, there's a "body" involved, the young girl, she is alive and an actual person, it can be seen that she was sold and abducted . ...because she is a person.... ...and my point about "Very Angry Women" is that all these "Take away women's rights" jerks think that it will just be so easy, women will just roll over like good little puppies and take it..! ...and they really won't..
So if abortion were banned in the US....how would you STOP women from going to Canada to get an abortion? Or would you not care?
You know as well as I do it is impossible to stop anyone from killing anyone else, you can only implement laws to try to dissuade them from doing it.
And who is ever going to overturn abortion? I find it probably the most unimportant issue ever because it's not a reality.
It's important to women because the Republicans have been systematically etching away at women's rights to their own bodies. NO, RvW won't be overturned but it is important to Repub politicians to claim they're against abortion and will overturn RvW because it gets One Issue Dopes to vote for them.

What does a U.K. case have to do with U.S. federal jurisdiction? A U.S. citizen committing an act in another country that is not illegal in that country, but illegal here typically does not face any prosecution. The primary exception is child sex, and the U.S. passed specific legislation to cover that (the PROTECT Act and another that I cannot recall the name).
Here's Joakim's main problem with his "plan".... how does he PROVE...in a court of law...that a woman who came back from a foreign country NOT pregnant.... WAS pregnant when she left???
