Ok, so out of nowhere, the media elected Rick Perry as the next President. Yet, everywhere I look I see only criticism and anti-Perry people. If I based my reading of the situation on the internet alone, it would seem Perry has about 5% of the Republican vote.

This is not meant to be inflamitory, but honestly... where the hell are Perry supporters? Is it solely the Christian right pushing this once again? Voting in a man based solely on social issues? I'd like to hear from Perry supporters if you are here regarding what part of his platform you support and why you feel that he will stick by any of his promises given his history.

PS: Having a full head of hair does not count as a valid reason for his election for the purposes of this thread!

I don't want a President who wasn't smart enough to join Jack Ridley's HareKlub for Men TM(Patent Pending).

The OP raises a very good point. I too have thought about this and came to the conclusion that Perry's support is coming from the C.F.R.-dominated media. It's a tactic called pressure from above and pressure from below. Your typical Republican "sees" the media and Republican establishment calling for Rick Perry (pressure from above) while at the same time they "see" their fellow Republicans "supporting" Rick Perry (pressure from below). That way, this individual is psychologically tricked into voting for Rick Perry.

No surprise that Perry attended the Bilderberg meetings. They must have liked him enough to decide that he was going to be the next Republican president, the next Ronald Reagan cowboy. His only functions as President would be to ensure that absolutely nothing Obama has done over the previous 4 years would get undone and to ensure that government continues to expand while the dollar continues to devalue.

I think allot of these people just don't bother with computers and haven't made the technological jump minor as it is and instead rely on TV and the paper for their political information seeing as they support him. Ignorance is probably the most dangerous threat to democracy and as we can see it is encouraged by mass media.

I hope that you base your political prognostications on reliable polling data, not internet opinion. Paul always wins on-line polls and straw votes, then the real votes and caucuses come along and he gets between 2% and 5% of the vote.

Funny question. I say the same thing about Barack Obama's poll numbers all the time. His internet approval rating seems to be about 80% among liberals. But not a single person I know... or run into at the grocery store... or meet while I'm on vacation... approve of Barack Obama.

Where are those 40% of idiots who still support him????

    Answer: on the internet

    Where are Perry's supporters?

    Answer: at work

I haven't been impressed with Perry at all. He took a shellacking at the last debate. Hopefully we can flush this turd.

I wasn't refering to the online poll numbers, which obviously get flooded by uniquely passionate Paul supporters. I was refering more to the fact that I've never met anyone who has anything good to say about Perry and certainly there aren't many proponents of his in message boards such as these.

Except for the few Ron Paul supporters ,many of us still dont have a candidate we are leaning on YET.Its still too early, and so far,all of the candidates have flaws, but in the end,its all about the economy.

This is the second thread of yours that I've read and I'm asking again, What are you talking about?

Who has elected Perry? I'm not hearing that from any of the news or commentary that I'm listening to or reading.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm supporting NO ONE, at this time. I will support whoever the Republicans nominate, however because any one of those candidates would be better than the guy in the WH now.

And this will be the second post of yours I'm responding to so that you know what I am talking about...

I'll make this one really simple. Go out and find me one major news network that doesn't prattle on about the Republican field being down to two candidates. Two days before Iowa, Rick Perry's name was somewhat irrelevant, suddenly, in every major news outlet he was getting more print than any candidate. My question was simply, where the hell did this come from?

Clearly you struggle to read between the lines, so I'll explain my post a little further for you. When I say "the media elected Rick Perry President", I did not mean he is literally the new President. I'm not surprised that you haven't seen the announcement on the news because I was speaking metaphorically. Good job on catching that though, I can tell you are really thinking! You see, I used that statement to insinuate that he is clearly their darling and without cause seems to be being pushed on the American public. In all likelyhood, people who don't follow the platforms and records of candidates will vote for Perry as the default, media opointed candidate because, afterall, any of those guys would be better than what is in the White House right?

    Thanks for your feedback!

He knows exactly what he is talking about. he is talking about an absolute fraud by the media to publicize politicians that are not favorable by the people but represent special interests. if you are really trying to find out you can watch the videos on this page: http://rytis.6te.net/politicaleducation.html

You know what, I sure hope that those of you who are offended by the idea that the media has already picked your candidate for you are dead right...

I'm not sure the general voting public will be as clued on however

If you go by what internet political junkie circles throw around, it will appear that Ron Paul is the candidate with the most support.
Most of us will recognize... that's exactly what it looked like in 2008.

In other words, you're not going to get an accurate representation of who people support from internet hype. People vocal on the internet are not representative of the public.

Say what you will about polls. They're more accurate than anecdote.
