Let's discuss the Jewish writings of Mosiac law and such. Cut to the chase and so on. Are there any people who wish to discuss Genesis in the Tankh of the JPS, edition from 1985?
I would. I haven't read that edition, but would that be necessary? What about it do you want to discuss?
http://images.betterworldbooks.com/082/Tanakh-9780827603660.jpg I would like to have a general discusssion of this book's meanings.
Would this version work? http://www.mechon-mamre.org/p/pt/pt0101.htm or http://www.sacred-texts.com/bib/tan/index.htm
I haven't read that one yet. I use the [ame="http://www.amazon.com/The-Jewish-Study-Bible-Publication/dp/0195297512/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1332070204&sr=8-1"]Jewish Study Bible from Oxford Press[/ame] for daily use and the [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Pentateuch-Haftorahs-English-Translation-Commentary/dp/0900689218"]Amazon.com: The Pentateuch and Haftorahs: Hebrew Text English Translation and Commentary (English and Hebrew Edition) (9780900689215): J. H. Hertz: Books] [/ame] at shul. And my wife just bought me the [ame="http://www.amazon.com/The-Five-Books-Moses-Deuteronomy/dp/0805211195/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1332070569&sr=1-1"]Schocken Bible translated by Everett Fox[/ame], but I haven't started it yet. I'm looking forward to reading it though. The reviews say he did a good job of recreating the poetry and wordplay used in the Hebrew. Are you familiar with any of those? The JPS Tanakah is on my list, but it's probably going to be a while before I get it.
I haven't read the ones you have mentioned. My reading schedule is messed up...but I have no real excuses. Breaking one's ankle is just a busted ankle, after all...
A busted ankle is pretty big... And reading Torah isn't always easy; Leviticus and Deuteronomy always take me forever to get through.
