Why are Hispanics counted as white in crime statistics?

What is the point of this latest racial-minorities-are-bad post? Really. Let's say that 100% of all crime is committed by 'blacks' (or Hispanics), what would true patriots do given that they don't consider race as a factor in judging people ?

 

Why? Other countries seem to be able to do it - What is so exceptional about the US that would prevent it happening here

 

An attempt to rile up the GOP's low information voting base. Ever since Obama was elected in 2008, they've been doing everything in their power to scare white voters as much as possible with claims such as "Obama is telling blacks to attack whites", or "Obama wants white slavery", etc. They've failed miserably in their attempts thus far, but they keep trying.

You aren't alone though. I'm convinced your average conservative probably has never associated with a single black or "Hispanic" person in their life.

 

Hispanic can be white if they are of 100% Euro stock, like some are in Argentina, Chile and Uruguay.

Hispanics definitely should be "white" if all Africans are going to be grouped under "black". There are many ethnic/national sub-groups under both of these labels.

So the FBI stats alone are what you referring to? More accurate data is usually a good thing. Data can be found by cross checking other sources. While the FBI crime stats would likely be more accurate, data does exist to make a comparison. Far superior to the gun ownership data the " gun safety" researchers use.

The author uses data in the article to estimate the hispanic crime rate, somewhat higher than New England "whites" yet lower than southern "whites". Most studies I have seen suggest socio-economic differences explain any higher rate of Hispanic crime.

It is young males between 15-29 that commit the vast majority of crimes. Since we can not pass laws that only apply to a select population, not much besides more accurate info will be the result of more stats. It will not make people stop trying to pass gun control or commenting on our high homicide rate.

Urban vs rural also is a factor all "races" have a much lower violence rate when they do not live in a city.

 

My neck is red, my arms are tan with freckles, the only parts I have that are a whitish color is where the sun don't shine. While many Hispanics(from south America) would more accurately be described as mestizo. Since they are a mix of spanish and the orginal indigenous people of the region. Race being a social construct they are considered "white". The country with the largest "white" population after the US according to census info is Brazil. I believe the UK is third with the rest of the top ten in south America. That is because most countries do not use "race" as a classification in their census.

 

They are white - because they are European.

 

"Mexican" is a nationality.

 

I think it's a good thing, it brings out the white nationalists, so then you know who to tune out when debating real issues. The sad part is the list seems to keep growing, but I figure it's just the banned ones with new screen names.....
