You keep inferring I propose doing nothing which I’ve repeatedly stated is false. I’m for a balanced approach that takes health and economic concerns into account. Right now we have a screw the economy approach that long term will do more harm than good.
As we're handing the big banks 700b to relieve them of their distressed assets, which they bought willfully
Does that answer the question, what is the risk if they contract the flu? I'm really happy to hear your anecdote. I am now confident that 80 year old nursing home patients don't contract the flu,....seriously
So why not lots of deaths over the total area of the world? If it has covered the globe, what would you estimate as the total number of people infected?
Don't ask them. We've heard that the number could jump as high as 400,000. We've heard millions(in the US). I'm willing to wait and review the numbers in a month's time(April 20th.) I'll certainly look on a week-to-week and day to day basis, but I still have the sneaking suspicion we won't approach 400,000. In fact, I have strong doubts about 100,000.
If it has spread around the globe there has to be millions. Maybe 100 million That's only 1.4% of the earth's population. Most mild. Deaths extremely low compared to number of infected people
The overall mortality rate is probably very low. But there is a subset of the population, as yet unidentified, which seems particularly susceptible of falling very ill and even dying. And I am not talking about just the elderly and those with compromised immune systems who would be always more risk regardless. Being able to identify that subset quickly, and defining who falls within or outside of it, might be as important as anything else that is being done to fight this virus.
There may be a genetic component. Maybe an immunological varient that triggers an extreme inflammatory response.
Mother earth is starting to self correct the overpopulation problem. Conveniently, she is targeting mainly those who have already lived a long life, which will make more room for the younger to enjoy the planet without old people eating up all the social security and resources. As far as pandemics go, the effects and who it targets could be much worse. The planet is being kind of considerate, lol.
The vast majority of all people on the planet in 1918 were fine but the Spanish Flu killed 50 million people when the world population was a quarter of what it is now. This is no joke
Agreed, it's no joke, but especially for certain populations. The joke is our panic. It's pointless and doesn't help anything.
The TP thing is stupid. I agree. That's just the irrational but entirely human desire to so "something" regardless of its effectiveness. But "panic" is the only way to get people to do what is absolutely necessary,. Self quarantine and stop gathering in groups. I say this as one hurt tremendously but this. I own a brewery that has been shut down...which I may now lose
We haven't tested huge numbers. But if its everywhere there have to be millions of infected, just not very sick or being tested
At best "Mother Earth" is a metaphor for the benevolence of life and existence, but at no time is "Mother Earth" a conscious entity determining the fate of the Human Race. Our fate is in our own hands, each of us, individually.
I suspect every two-bit despot, every Hitler-wanna-be bureaucrat, every dogmatic populist, every collectivist minion, every tribal leader, every gang warlord watched China and drooled at the thought of unlimited power to control every individual with a single pull on the reins of the yoke of Altruism--the good of others before self-interest. This has become an orgy of power-lust sycophants.
Who is going to pay for all of this destruction? And how long will it take? Trillions and trillions of wealth gone. Because of how many US deaths? 1 million? 100,000? 10,000? 1,0000? Nope, none of that. 114. approximately .000035 % of the population. We destroyed the finances of over 50% of the working population for the .000035% who were old and dying. Go fkng figure.
