Why don't Bush and Obama supporters reconcile?

Considering their idiotic corporate welfare meddlings and well, mainly their corporate welfare meddlings and Obama's CONTINUATION of the Bush tax cuts (I do agree that income taxation, at least, progressive income taxation, is wrong), and the fact that they're both supporters of an aggressive military, why do people who like Bush tend to dislike Obama, and why do people who like Obama tend to dislike Bush?

Methinks it's because of the R beside Bush's name and D beside Obama's.

Of course, Obama is more in support of civil liberties such as abortion and stem cell research than Bush...so I guess that has to explain part of it.

 

It is hilarious that there are still Americans out there who think that Bush and Obama are from opposing sides.

There is only ONE power in the US and ALL US presidents are part of that one power.

They perpetuate the Liberal vs Conservative divide in the media to try to brainwash Americans into believing they have a choice in elections.

As a Brit.. it is funny to watch.. and even funnier that so many Americans are taken in by it.

Carter is Reagan is Bush Senior is Clinton is Bush jr is Obama. All the same.

Well it seems like most people in the U.S. are either Republican hacks or overly leftist socialist wannabes..

 

Most Americans are moderates, DeathStar. In terms of political party affiliation, most Americans are independents. It just seems as though most citizens are partisan hacks because they are the most vocal. The silent majority, so to speak, is rather uninterested in politics, and are certainly less ideological.

 

I'll let you take a guess as to how I feel about it.

 

Yes, a moderate in the US political system is someone who is happy with a trillion dollar deficit instead of a $1.5 trillion dollar deficit.

A moderate is someone who wishes to run only 3 wars at once instead of 4.

A moderate is someone who is happy with one massive entitlement program creation, like the drugs for seniors during "W"'s term and Obamacare for Obama's term, but not more than one at a time.

A moderate is just plain OK with illegal immigration, even though he or she knows something should be done about it.

In short, moderates are idiots.

I would not say they are idiots, but are politically uninterested, which makes them politically uninformed. To call a moderate an idiot would be to discredit such a person's intellectual capacity outside of politics.

 

The problem is, most people who claim to be center aren't actually center. They tend to be blatantly left or right leaning. I consider myself to truly be a centrist on the economic left-right scale.

As far as social/civil issues, I am strictly liberal.

I disagree. With the economic and political climate the way it is, it is unforgivable to have your head in the sand. I could see maybe if everyone had jobs and the economy was doing well, but it's not. What will it take, soup lines?

 

To answer your question, "W" is still looked at as a liar by the left for going into Iraq for WMD's. The funny thing today is that Obama is doing the exact same thing with Iran now.

Most Americans do not care about the issues unless it personally affects them, their families, or their friends. I can vouch for this based upon how my sister is as a voter. She does not care about economic issues because she has a good paying job, and all her friends have good paying jobs. However, she particularly cares about gay rights because many of her friends are gay.

Other voters such as my mother are purely partisan voters. She has and will always be a Democrat. My father votes based upon who is the best candidate at the time.

My brother is a one-issue voter. He focuses on environmentalism. However, he knows enough about the other issues to make a well educated decision on who he wants to vote for.

I am an activist voter. I am well informed on all issues. I work for my local Democratic Committee. However, I am a picky voter. So far, I will be writing in my name on the ballot.

I would say that moderates are the ONLY intelligent people in the political voting system.... as they know that the charade of liberal vs conservative is just that.

They know that there is no dichotomy in US power... it is ONE.

They know that their vote is worth precisely NOTHING.... just like ALL the votes of the American people.

I believe people are inherently self-centered and ignorant, but only because we refuse to seek out as much knowledge as possible.
