For over two hundred years, Black Haitians lived under self rule after ethnically cleansing the land of Whites. Today, the country is still a dysfunctional cesspit. Can the blame be squarely laid on the Haitians for the fact their nation is dirt poor? Is it possible the reason Haiti is a giant garbage dump b/c the ones who could run the country were massacred? After more than two centuries, how is it possible Haitians have not made any sort of progress turning their nation into anything resembling civilization?
I always thought they never received enough relief effort. They are poor and suffering so it's not going to be fixed overnight.
why dont you read about the histoy and economy of haiti, find out the reasons and come back and tell us. dont expect us to do all the leg work, run along now, youve got work to do...whats up? dont be lazy!
Relief effort? From what? Haiti's been a disaster for the last two centuries. - - - Updated - - - Well, I think the national IQ of Haiti tells us the reason for the current state the nation is in. What history do I need to read, exactly? That Haitians over the last two centuries haven't cobbled together the most rudementary components of a society?
Very briefly reading up on it, their long debt to France and the inter-war period both seem to be quite relevant.
so all haitians have been tested for iq now have they? Of course iq is nothing but eurocentric non sense anyway so that wont tell us anything. The history you need to read is the history regarding haiti. For a start, do you know what haiti means and that they are not haitians? that is a eurocentric term to label the ppl who live there. so when you have read the history maybe you can explain to us all why 'haiti' is the way it is. Maybe that will help you and us understand but then again, that will require some reading and research and idoubt very much you will do anything of the sort because you dont even care about so-called haitians.
While it has been two centuries since Haitian independence we must understand that "political understanding" in Haiti was based upon oppressive colonialism from Europe and that "colonialism" was still prevalent well into the 20th Century. They didn't have a political model upon which to build except "colonialism" which was always based upon tyranny and oppression. Haiti basically had a bad foundation for government based upon the "European Model of Government" created by colonialism and they still reflect that bad foundation for government that still existed deep into the 20th Century.
Sure, and I know you are being tongue in cheek but the serious come back might ask, is their religious outlook affecting their economic development in any way
However many former European colonies adopted European models of government" and have gone on to be successful nations. So one has to ask what were the factors in that model that retarded Haiti's development, but not others
I would say that it is more likely that the religious institutions and traditions have not added structure and discipline to the masses, for lack of a better word, nor education in the absence of the government to do those things, which furthers an uneducated and emotive, visceral culture/life-style that are the antithesis to economic development in any meaningful way.
So does the hostility of all the slave holding powers to a state that consisted of slaves that successfully revolted.
Maybe its geography too, ability to sustain itself, it is a small island. These types of nations would rely heavily on trade inland with America for example. Maybe sanctions were implemented after the rebellion.
What happened to Haiti that differed significantly from the Dominican Republic, China and India? Apart from the fact Haitians have been freer for longer, that is.
How was Haiti able to supply more than half of Europe with sugar, coffee and cotton under French rule? The Haitian constitution of 1804 actually cut ties to France. W/o Europeans running the place, Haiti turned into a cesspit - like Detroit, Birmingham Al, etc,.
Born Free Haitians, like all African countries (except for the northernmost tier), are happy with their lot. It's called self determination -- the right to choose their own destiny. Self determination allows them to be happy and free spirited ... and free of the gentry's self-righteous, pious, do-gooderisms. These carefree and happy people prefer to live in an ambiance of poverty, disease, anarchy, crime, maiming, killing, corruption and violence. And be free of the gentry's silly regulations, laws and restrictions on their freedom. South Africa, once the model of prosperity and cornucopia of all Africa has evolved into a cesspool like Haiti and Detroit. But who has the right to criticize such scenarios? Is it not their natural, proud cultures and lifestyles? What is considered a cesspit in one country, might be considered a utopia in others. -30-
The Haitians invited the Whites back only to kill them again. I guess they can't put two-and-two together and figure out YT can't fix their problems if he's killed an' shee'it.
Haiti didn't, France did. The French used Haiti and it's people as tools to do that. What they didn't do is run a country, doing any of the things that are needed for a country to develop and prosper. What makes yoou think is was some kind of island paradise under French rule?
I would question this. S Africa has serious problems. India has serious problems. Even Jordan has serious problems. Obviously Palestine (including Israel) is a complete disaster. Off the top of my head I can't think of any former colonial nations that are doing very well. Name a former colonial country and I'll point out serious flaws when it comes to human rights and politics that they have today.
