Why is North Korea ever included in the Olympics?

I'm not sure if they should be allowed to combine with SK, but if the Olympic committee is ok with it, no big deal. But, have they been tested for illegal drugs? They have failed those tests in the past.

Oh, I agree that South Koreans and North Koreans are kin. It is those that so want the US to bomb NK that maintain that South Koreans live in fear of NK in their wish to sell another war

All Olympian teams are randomly tested. It is not just some North Koreans competitors that have failed drug tests but so have Americans and Europeans.

I know, and that is why Russia couldn't send athletes under their flag. I only ask because I doubt their athletes could be tested before the games while other countries like Russia had their athletes tested long before.

I think many are tested during the games. I believe that Russia was banned because the drug use was encouraged/coerced by the state whereas there is as yet no proof that North Koreans have been encouraged/coerced to take drugs. You're right about the random testing being done in the years between the Olympics but I presume that the NK competitors along with other competitors are also tested during other meets. It is unfair that other competitors have to inform the authority of their whereabouts at all times whereas countries like NK seem to have a pass on this.

They're not supposed to be but does that stop the IOC from being political?

So is nuking the whole area. But we shouldn't do that, and for the same reason.

There's one thing that has been unsaid that I think should be kept in mind. These strikes were not done by the military, but by the CIA. The military, generally speaking, follows the rules and conduct themselves honorably. The CIA, however, are known criminals who routinely break the laws of our own country as well as international law and know they will never be held to account for anything ever. So when I say that intel tells you what you want to hear, I mean deliberately.

Strike missions are part of The CIA's job? You're telling me something I did not know. I thought they just gathered intelligence.

Why not? Have you seen their economy? Do you really think NK will attack them if they know we'll come back to assist? I think we're there more because of SK being located so close to China and Russia, NK isn't going to do anything but shoot off their mouths.

Oh right, you mean "presence" inside South Korea. I thought you meant that they should be able to protect themselves now without a US presence in a war.

You would think the Olympic organization would set some minimal human rights standard for countries wanting to participate. If they let NK participate, would they have allowed Germany to participate with functioning death camps?
