Show me the information that clearly relates gun ownership to rape in the UK.

I've asked the same question only phrased a little differently and have yet to get an answer.

There are over 50 countries in the world(1) with far higher homicide rates and much stricter gun laws.
If draconian gun laws and complete gun bans worked to reduce homicides, why don't they work in these 50+ countries?

And you think that would be effective in the US?

Who would enforce this? What percentage of the population would abide by it? What percentage of criminals would abide by it?

and now you have millions of pissed off people who may well turn against their government. I sure wouldn't 'want to be a police officer telling some 70 year old decorated former SEAL that he is going to jail for not turning in the 45 he carried in Nam.

    Re.
I always hope for bad weather on an Election Day because I know that 2nd Amendment supporters will show up at the polls while faint hearted enemies of the Constitution generally don't want to get their hair wet.

the people who want that sort of nonsense are going to hide behind men with guns to back up their schemes.

Okay, so someone can just walk out of a gun shop with an FIM-92, then drive to a remote desert location and start having fun engaging airliners?

have you ever given deep thought to this subject? someone who is willing to commit mass premeditated murder-a crime that will guarantee they will die in prison-by one means or another-will generally be able to obtain what they want to use?

I assume a law would be enforced by law enforcement officers.

Are you saying the decorated Veteran would not obey a law?

Do you think that county sheriffs and deputies would enforce a "universal" background check or magazine capacity restrictions? They aren't in Colorado.

They would not. My father was twice decorated Purple Heart recipient and was awarded the Silver Star and he would not.

They'll have the law to deal with. There are consequences. You'd likely miss anyway.

I generally follow the law, that being said, I'd not turn in a gun either.

Well I didn't say that it would be LEGAL! I'm saying that you think that this possibility should be allowed to exist!

You'll have to rephrase. I don't see the connection between someone having the will to commit mass murder and the ability to obtain what they want to use.

Good example. What about disarming law enforcement?

in our country, the way the government tries to prevent people from obtaining things that our large and porous border cannot keep out, is by the threat of jail sentences. Someone willing to die in prison to commit an act of mass murder cannot be deterred from obtaining weapons with the threat of jail time
