Hilbert is absolutely correct in saying it is a false claim to say that Al Gore claimed to have "invented" the internet. Leaving aside any argument that it is petty nitpicking typical of liberal malcontents who have nothing better to do, Al Gore made no such statement. Al Gore claimed he "created" the internet. What confuses me is that liberals are so quick to point out such minor errors and inconsistencies ... and yet they have no problem that a judge in Britain ruled that Gore's award winning "documentary" is so riddled with scientific errors and inconsistencies that it cannot be taught in their public school system without equal refutation. Is that what is called a double standard...or is it just lying?
As usual James, you are a wealth of information. And it makes sense too. What I have nvere understood is that if, as so many scientists claim, that man made global warming is being used as a tool for communist wealth redistribution, how it is the world's largest polluters are never included in any control mechanism. More than a few economists pointed out that Kyoto was aimed right at the United States and was designed to penalize them for economic success, while India, China, Malaysia, Korea were exempted even though they were and are pouring more pollution into the atmosphere than anyone. Did you know that China pollutes more in one day that does all of Europe in a month? Were you aware that China has opens more coal burning electrical generating plants in one month than Britain did between 1900 and 1950?
I wonder where all the liberal eco-weenies are? Is it a case of not wanting to see the benefits of global warming? Boy oh boy, if this was some "study" done by the wannabees on the IPCC I think they'd all be in here like Chicken Little: "the sky is burning, the sky is burning!"
not only that F&L, these centers of population in the US are larger polluters of the environment. How about not allowing California population centers the use of cars, furnaces, AC, restaurants, barbecue grills, aerosol sprays, incandescents, phosphorous detergents, etc. THEY are the ones that are ruining the environment for the rest of us. Tax them more to make up for it. Let them put to use their bike trails for real.
It's called "FearandLoathing is making crap up again, and hoping he doesn't get called it." Too bad for him I'm around. Back in the real world (which, as usual, shows a strong liberal bias), the British court specifically stated Gore's piece was very accurate. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dimmock_v_Secretary_of_State_for_Education_and_Skills --- Justice Burton's written judgment was released on 10 October 2007. He found that it was clear that the film "is substantially founded upon scientific research and fact, albeit that the science is used, in the hands of a talented politician and communicator, to make a political statement and to support a political programme." The judge concluded "I have no doubt that Dr Stott, the Defendant's expert, is right when he says that: 'Al Gore's presentation of the causes and likely effects of climate change in the film was broadly accurate.'" --- To FearandLoathing and the rest, you can use ignorance as an excuse for parroting your big lie previous to this. However, now that you all know better, anyone who repeats that big lie again would obviously be deliberately lying. Which means you'll all almost certainly keep repeating it, being that you all so fervently believe how the ends justifies the means, but only for your side. Oh, the "nine inaccuracies" found by the judge were actually quite accurate. If any of you ladies would like to discuss them specifically, bring it on.
Staggering mathematical and geographic ignorance. If the amount of land shrinks, the amount of coastline shrinks. Could you explain how one grows food on bedrock and swamp muck? You do understand what the terrain of northern Canada is, no? Or perhaps FearandLoathing does think food can be grown without soil. It would be consistent with the mental functioning he's put on display here. Oh, 30 million Bengalis will need new homes. We'll be sure to send them to FearandLoathing's house, since he says it's all such a good thing. (So what kind of moron does it take to claim turning half the world into a desert is a good thing? A conservative moron, that's the kind.)
"It's the urban heat island effect!" is denialist revisionist lunacy. It's pseudoscience that brainless political hacks swallow, and then try to pass of to their equally brainless brethren. Not being morons or liars, scientists know cities are warmer. That would be why they specifically take that into account. The fact that you loons didn't know that demonstrates just how ignorant of every aspect of the science you all are. Seriously loons, I know some of these scientists. On both an intellectual and a moral level, none of you are fit to sniff their jocks. They don't lie, but they are often lied about by the kook right.
It's due to the standard problem which most liberals face on the internet. Liberals are out working their jobs and taking care of their families, so they can't spend all day on a message board. Conservatives are down in Mom's basement smokin' dope and waiting for their next government subsidy deposit, so they've got nothing better to do than cruise the internet and badmouth their country. That's why the conservatives usually outnumber us 10:1. We liberals refer to that as "having a target rich environment."
