You're ignoring the truth that we are all becoming a more "global" species. The "global economy" coupled with the "global internet" together has forced us all into a much closer living relationship with each other as individuals, and reduced the impact of governments on our personal lives. These are positive developments, but they make nation states ever more irrelevant. Also, global warming is one of a growing number of issues beyond the capacity of any nation state dealing with or resolving alone. That will force us to become more globally minded. That's a good thing. Humanity is evolving toward a more universal society. Becoming a "global" community is an important step in acquiring the higher level of human consciousness demanded by the new "global" reality. It's a higher stage in human development.

As a foreigner, I sometimes wonder if Trump is a so wonderfull president the only thing the citizens of his country can criticize is his haircut.

The problem seems to be that many people like their cultures, don't want to have them dramatically changed, and to make their own decisions regarding themselves and their futures. Yes, the internet allows global communication but that doesn't mean that any political organization should interfere in the laws, customs and cultures of every community.

 

Europe has a long history of generational warfare and was the source of Fascism, Communism, Nazism and the Holocaust and two World Wars. Yes. they can always be used as bad examples but that's as far as it should go.

 

Well sure. Macron is the ultimate french patriot. He got America to protect them so they could spend less on defense and more on socialism. Well, I guess that deal was before Macron... but he is trying to keep it going.

Don't know... Maybe the thousands of wars they've fought between them in the name of one kingdom or even smaller city states. The USA is a young country compared to the europeans.

 

Meaning what? In N America, we had native tribal warfare for eons before Europeans showed up. Similar stories from around the globe. It seems, well, boastful then and frankly unuseful to demand that suddenly your brand of tribalism must then be worse than everywhere else.

How about we strive to grow beyond tribalism of any kind? We're all aboard one single planet hurling thru space. We are actually one human species--Homo Sapiens. Why not allow ourselves to accept that incredible truth and stop the nasty, but unnecessary tribal conflict and see each other as co-dependent co-equals sharing a fragile home in space?
