The OP title is straight from the article including punctuation. She took a hanger to her unborn fetus of 24 weeks, and the result was a baby who has serious and life long disabilitieshttp://www.cbsnews.com/news/tennessee-woman-charged-with-attempted-murder-in-failed-abortion/

"Her boyfriend took her to the hospital where doctors delivered a 24-week-old baby weighing just 1.5 pounds. Doctors told investigators the child will need medical support for the rest of his life because of the injuries he sustained.

WTVF reports that authorities say the baby had damage to the lungs, eyes, and heart.

"Those injuries will affect this child for the rest of his life, all caused at the hands of his own mother," Sgt. Evans told WTVF."

Mostly I want to know what kind of penalties are appropriate, if the facts are as proven and if this woman is seen as mentally competent? One wonders if she knew the details of the trimester test, and exactly when that coat-hanger trick turned her into a murderer?

It was too late for a legal abortion. We don't know why she waited.

Well... such IS the nature of Evil.

What she did was attempt to take the life of an innocent... which is murder, just like every other abortion.

I wish this woman would have gone to have an abortion sooner so that poor child wouldn't have to exist in life with all those injuries as well as be used for political gains by the body controllers. The article wasn't specific on the medical implications of the injuries but if we're talking about a child that will have to be hooked up medical devices to survive the entire time, the humane thing to do would have been to end it's suffering. If that's the case, shame on those who put their idea of the selective sanctity of life over the existence of a person likely in pain with no real expectation for quality of life.

I don't agree with how this woman tried to do what she was doing, because the end result can easily end up with what occurred. The importance of trained medical personal has been highlighted here not just to protect the health of the mother, but to prevent something like this from happening to a child that will then be born. Urge your government officials to stop restricting access to women's health care if you actually want to prevent things like this. Double-down on the body controlling if you don't actually care and want to make this about women who get abortions at all.

It isn't ?! A woman takes a hanger to herself instead of getting an abortion and you don't think there a mental health issue?
Abortion is legal....why didn't she get one? Did some self-righteous jerk keep her from getting one?

Of course there's the possibility that scumbag Republicans shut down her nearest clinic and she couldn't get to it or have the money for it.

But if she was at 24 weeks and then decided to use a hanger there is more than likely a mental health issue...

Good post and I agree that the keeping that child alive was horribly wrong, much worse than any abortion....it will pay for the mother's mistake...

So you agree that keeping that child alive was wrong... ?

    Fascinatin'...

Where do you come down on her choosing to engage in sexual intercourse, despite being unprepared to raise a child?

Put another way, do you agree that she should have abstained from sexual intercourse until such time that she was prepared to raise the life that sexual intercourse is specifically designed to conceive?

    Of course not.....

Only people who have abnormally low or non-existent sex drives would advise not having sex.....NORMAL people have sex......but if you want to stand on a street corner and screech at people to not have sex, go right ahead :) :)

So you want to claim a RIGHT, which you also claim requires no responsibility on the part of the individual, whatsoever, to sustain?

    Well... now that IS something.

Tell me, what other rights do you claim require NO RESPONSIBILITY on the part of the claimant?

(Reader, you'll want to pay close attention here... as the argument claiming the RIGHT to murder one's pre-born child is about to be exposed as a delusion, born of perverse reasoning. )

Nope, no one has the right to murder their unborn....but having an abortion is PERFECTLY LEGAL and remains legal and it's no delusion :)

And in the post of mine you quoted I didn't claim any right but you rambled wildly on and on about "rights"..... you are as confused here as where you think I posted the OP.... :roflol:

Not for very long. Just watch.
This is absolutely correct and allowed entirely by Arkansas Act 301.
The forced District Court injunction against Arkansas Act 301 enforcement is currently VERY before SCOTUS.
Not just sorta before the Court but VERY!
Curtis J. Neeley, Jr., Applicant v. Louis Jerry Edwards, et al., (15A368)
Filed Sep 8, 2015. Granted Sept 15, 2015 forcing AR AG to seek certiorari.

Joseph M. Beck, in His Official Capacity as Chairperson of the Arkansas State Medical Board, et al., Petitioners v. Louis Jerry Edwards, et al. , (15-448)
    Filed Oct 9, 2015. Response requested Nov 10, 2015. Response filed Dec 9, 2015.
Petition for Certiorari, Amicus in Support, Response in Opposition Free links to PDFs filed.

Curtis J. Neeley, Jr., Petitioner v. Louis Jerry Edwards, et al., (15-7059)
Filed Nov 13, 2015 Distributed for Conference Jan 8, 2016
PDFs filed linked to the titles above. SCOTUS docket listing linked to case no.

. . . . A sperm cell and egg cell (ovum) unite and form a zygote that develops into a blastocyst about five days after fertilized. A blastocyst and an embryo are still nourished by the female egg yolk and are all "alive". A human life has not yet begun and these parts of the female may be frozen for later use. e.g. IVF
Freezing live humans is ALWAYS FATAL.

. . . . Sorry women; but ALL abortionists and many women are trying to ignore the dignity of a human fetus or are hoping SCOTUS will become wholly dishonorable. Hint; THEY WON'T as will be obvious to EVERYONE else very soon.
. . . . A fetus develops into a "born person" and is usually viable unless killed by an assassin masquerading as a doctor.
. . . . Organ genesis is complete for a fetus and this mini-human should be given the sanctity or dignity of human life. The HUMAN DIGNITY of a fetus SHALL be recognized at 12-weeks after Arkansas Act 301 is allowed and fetal heartbeats are detected.
. . . . The HUMAN DIGNITY of a fetus SHALL be recognized at 12-weeks after Arkansas Act 301 is allowed. Arkansas Act 301 does not prohibit pregnant females from ANYTHING! A pregnant female may already be charged for killing a fetus or wounding per the OP. Arkansas Act 301 only ensures after 12-weeks pass and a heartbeat is detected the following is true.
VERY SOON in Arkansas and then nationwide; No doctor may assassinate a fetus and disguise this MURDER as healthcare, like was done dishonorably over a decade after Casey.
This woman of the OP should be punished as a felon for attempted murder and spend most of the rest of her reproductive life in prison "loving" only fresh vegetables.

It is NOT mysterious about when human lives begin anymore.
Exactly when human lives begin will always be a mystery.

I am watching. I will watch as Texas' TRAP law is shredded, and I will watch as SCOTUS ignores the already aborted Act 301.

Reader, understand that the above cited contributor is asking for a link regarding the NAZI establishing laws to provide for the eradication of the Jews.

Personally... I'd ban any contributor that was sufficiently ignorant of world history to need a link for that, but, no one asks me... .

    Here's your link:

    https://fcit.usf.edu/holocaust/timeline/TEXTLINE.HTM

    Here's what it says:

We will BOTH watch as the TX TRAP law and all other TRAP laws are shredded as I recommended on page 14. See as (HTML, PDF)
The right to control autonomy is concrete and controlling constitutionally until another individual exists.

Yes, the TRAP law will be overturned. No, SCOTUS will never take up Act 301. It's dead. Aborted. Flushed, even - and you have no legal standing in the case. Deal with it.

Whatever. I will not waste more time with you and regret wasting the time I have thus far. I have no legs so, of course, I have no standing. Ha.
If SCOTUS reads my petition, it will be granted and summarily be made an amicus.
If 15-448 is not granted then my petition is moot.

Funny thing is, in all of what you posted and linked to, there is NO mention of forced abortions on Jews. Forced labor, yes. Concentration camps, yes. Mass executions, yes. Unspeakable horrors - YES.

But zero mention of forced abortions on Jewish women. So, I guess that link was a FAIL...
