The Islamist dominated Shura council just passed a new law according to the new constitution to ensure that EVERY list has the top four places given to women candidates.

That means that each seat that is contested for the parliament and shura elections seats must have at the top of the list in every district 4 women.

That means that IF Egyptian women want to run they will head the top 4 places on the lists.

That means IF the Copts want women and Copts to be represented they better get to work now to sort themselves out and start campaigning.

They have the law behind them now. They can't cry if they don't work to get those seats.

The men are crying it is sex discrimination against men :omg:

If you were a Coptic Lady, would you volunteer to be one of the four?
I do not think so... Unless you are someone who plays 'invisible' in an American movie.
A Coptic woman declaring her candidacy for one of the four spots in Egypt... would never last to brag about it. She would be slaughtered from ear to ear and also raped...

Just a ridiculous statement- we have had Coptic women as ministers before in this country or maybe you are ignorant of that fact. During the thime of the King, we had Jewish senators and hi ranking members of the govt except of course, people in Egypt at that time didn't identify themselves by religious orientation they were simply Egyptians.

Yes Egyptians are known for their hospitality, this is why they threw a little less than 100 thousand Jews out with their shirts on their backs, they also asked all other Nationalities to leave (Greeks, Italian, French, German etc.,) The Egyptian Government took their Bank accounts, their Real Estate, their homed and their jewelry before allowing them to go on the boat to Europe...

Speaking of rape... Laura Logan of sixty minutes CBS is still nursing the parts of her body that were poked in every body orifice, bitten and luckily managed to survive...
Where are the commercial establishments, Cicurel, Gategno, Simon Artz, Groppy and others??? Yes Egypt is known for its hospitality...

As Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi said that virulent anti-Semitic comments which he reportedly said prior to his election were taken out of context, the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) released another video which depicts him making similar comments.

The latest video is an address delivered by Morsi, which was posted on the Internet on January 10, 2010. It was translated by MEMRI and published on Wednesday.

In the newly exposed remarks, Morsi calls U.S. President Barack Obama “insincere” and calls for Arabs to raise their children on hatred of Jews.

“One American president after another – and most recently, that Obama – talks about American guarantees for the safety of the Zionists in Palestine,” Morsi said. [Obama] was very clear when he uttered his empty words on the land of Egypt. He uttered many lies, of which he couldn’t have fulfilled a single word, even if he were sincere – which he is not.

“Dear brothers, we must not forget to nurse our children and grandchildren on hatred towards those Zionists and Jews, and all those who support them,” he added. “They must be nursed on hatred. The hatred must continue.”

The earlier video released by MEMRI shows that Morsi, also in 2010, rejected negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority and referred to Jews as “apes and pigs.”

The United States later condemned those remarks and urged Morsi to immediately clarify his views.
