Suppose we have a fictional Society where Social Justice has won. Call this society USA2030. The First Amendment has not been repealed. But anyone who complains (several times) about reverse discrimination is going to suffer consequences: -- Ban from almost all Social Media -- Blacklist on most jobs Thus, very few people complain about reverse discrimination -- such as discrimination against male DV victims.
Unfortunately, the scenario I have described is far from hypothetical. Many Leftists are fighting to ban all content they find offensive from all major Social Networks.
In my opinion social media and networks are a complete waste of time. It is much better to meet people face to face and have interpersonal relationships with.
There are many aspects of interpersonal friendship, which can not be substituted by Social Media. But Social Media is useful to broadcast information which is not available from Mainstream Media:
The biggest problem I have with social media and the internet in general is the inability of insuring the truth is being posted. I think truth has been lost in the world and in particular on the internet because of anonymity people feel free to say anything they want.
I wonder where you got this chart from and who did the poll/survey. I am shocked so many people trust the court system in this chart, but then again I doubt many people have gone to court. The media having the kind of numbers congress does is really sad but also a true reflection on how they have failed us all on fair, balanced and truthful reporting of actual current events. Can't say I trust too many polls/survey's though so I take the numbers on the chart with dumper full of salt.
Well that's interesting then, I can't believe they would post a poll with numbers like that. My friend that voted for Hillary highly trust the NYT and WP thinks it's only crazy far right wing people that distrust those outlets and others like them. Oddly he thought CNN was a BS outlet and so he wasn't surprised when they were busted.
If it's not legal retribution, then no, the society would be democratic. People have every right to fight/change cultural norms whether we agree/disagree. The only protection we have is from the state.
I disagree. If people would be afraid to voice their grievances for the fear of retribution even from non-state actors that would still be a totalitarian society. The Totalitarianism would be enforced by non-state actors.
I agree. If I am banned from a Democratic forum in 2017, that is not censorship. If in 2030, anyone who is guilty of Political Incorrectness is (almost) guaranteed to be banned from all Social Media and almost all jobs, that would be censorship by nonstate actors.
I agree with you there. I just don't believe that's what will happen. The problem with social media is that it's not the commons, and our protections don't apply. All social media platforms are privately owned.
Hopefully there will not be organized pressure on Social Media enough to force them to censor political speech. Such pressure is possible due to great interdependence of Social Media and many companies.
I don't think it's about pressure, corporations do whatever they want, whenever they want, to whomever they want. People have little to no power left.
I voted Totalitarian because I could choose Totalitarian as well. Liberals are dictaors and history bears this out.
Yeah, but what if the desire is to use government to force agendas that the majority of the population do not want?
Agreed, Social Despotism and Social Tyranny. This is what drug dealers, gang memebrs, police, politicians, judges, and many who head industry, rely on to get away with their deeds.
Would government jail time for "hate speech" or the like also be a thing in this 2030 or is what your talking about only a private sector thing? It would still be Totalitarian even if just culturally in my view.
With democrats is social justice almost impossible, because lefts and liberals take money from hardly working people and redistribute it among parasites of any kind.
Hmmm. . . a person who is alert, aware, and resists, somewhat like myself. I am pleased to "meet"you. As it has been said long before I was born, "in politics, there are strange "bedfellows".
