Since 1960, all US crime categories are up, with the exception of murder, probably due to better medical care. We are less religious since then.

We have no Government armed with Power capable of contending with human Passions unbridled by morality and Religion. Avarice, Ambition and, Revenge, would break the strongest Cords of our Constitution as a Whale goes through a Net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious People. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other. John Adams

He gives us freewill, which many misuse, like you.

Yes really - you should think more before giving two word responses.

    1) a religious denomination and the holy book they use are two different things.
    2) Religious dogma and the holy book are two different things

For example. Jews have the OT part of the Bible. Judaism and Christianity are not the same nor are the parts of the Bible used. Christianity has the OT and the NT but, does not observe OT Law - except some extremist religious right groups who have piked out a few laws they like such as the death penalty for gays.

Islam reveres the first 5 books of the Bible - The Torah. Islam is different than both Christianity and Judaism.

Even if we are talking about the parts of the Bible that contain the teachings of Jesus - Christian Dogma and the Teachings of Jesus are two different things.

Using the previous example - some denominations want to kill the gays. Jesus says "Let ye who is without sin cast the first stone"
    - some denominations "Latter Day Saints for example" are supposed to renounce alcohol (same with Islam) - Jesus turns water into wine at the wedding .. the most holy of sacraments (where you drink the blood of the God) uses wine ... and in Deuteronomy one of Gods laws - Law of the Tithe suggests using both beer and wine in a celebration of YHWH.

Within the major Christian denominations Protestant, Catholic, Orthodox - there are different salvation formulations. Same book - different ways to get through the pearly gates. Protestantism has "Sola Fide" salvation by faith alone. Catholic and Orthodox reject this doctrine.

Same Bible - Same OT - different beliefs.

According to the biblical fairy tale people dont usually have free will. If someone steps on your foot where was your freewill?
