I am wondering what the impact of things like the black lives movement, assassinations, media and public scrutiny, and the general disrespect within society have done to impact possible recruitment and stability of our Law Enforcement personnel. That said I have a little questionaire/poll to propose.

Sure, although many in my family were fire fighters and they would have looked at me funny.

Other, as I would do it again.
But, the pay would have to be better. A stronger union and a chief and mayor that is pro cop.

I would never be a cop, and that's why I have so much respect for them.

I very strongly considered going into law enforcement, their are many aspects to it I think I would really enjoy. However I came to the conclusion that it wasn't worth it, the legal risk and political BS was too much. I didn't mind the physical risk, the hours, dealing with scum, etc. I'm confident I would have handled that fine. It's the bosses, unions and such that would have done me in. Being forced to enforce laws didn't agree with, jail people I didn't think needed to be jailed, the compromises to conform, etc.

If I could find a way to work for a Walt Longmire I'd do that in a second.

Being a cop in a large city is a surefire ticket to mental and emotional toxicity accompanied by burnout. Cops everywhere, by the very nature of their job, deal with the dregs of society daily. However, in larger cities, it is compounded. At this point, good cops become bad cops. I'd work as one in Mayberry (surprisingly, no blacks in that southern town), Walton's Mountain or Mayfield.

No way would I become a cop today. They are sitting ducks for the criminally insane of the BLM crowd. My grandfather was a cop in Chicago, and my son's father-in-law is a cop in Seattle. I couldn't imagine what it would feel like watching your policeman husband walk out the door everyday and worrying if he'll make it home. Policing has always been a dangerous occupation--like firefighting, but the rule of law is breaking down, making police work extremely dangerous. Criminals have almost become a protected class.

See no reason not to, other than other callings. I've lived in the UK and Sweden. Sure, it's more dangerous than turning papers all day, but it's not significant enough to influence my life choices.

:cowboy: Personally, I would enjoy to become Sheriff of a remote and lonely village, somewhere in Montana, just to say. As said by Pax Aeon, to be a cop :police: in a big city could generate a high and negative level of stress and the context would be well more difficult to live in [if you want to be a honest and correct cop, if you are going to be a corrupted cop, well ... that's a different matter].

Cops are being targeted by the left for destruction. Why? Because they want to replace them with federal police.

As mentioned before, I worked in law enforcement as an IRS agent for many years. In that time I received numerous awards for treating people fairly and applying the law on a just basis. To this day, I have kept commendatory letters from taxpayers and am honored that they validated my work.

Working for government is an honor. Every government employee should look upon his/her duties as a noble responsibility that they should undertake with the greatest integrity possible. If police were to do that today we would not have problems like this:

Arkansas Cop Arrested For Shooting Himself & Blaming It On “A Hispanic Guy”

    http://www.occupydemocrats.com/arka...hooting-himself-blaming-it-on-a-hispanic-guy/

Last month, an Arkansas police officer sparked a manhunt and investigation in a colossal waste taxpayer dollars, after he was shot by an imaginary Hispanic man during a traffic stop. While 50-year-old Sergeant David Houser was, indeed, shot, it was his own negligence and his own bullet that hit him. Unfortunately for the officer, his racist hatred and willingness to lie has landed him behind bars.

“Houser told local and state law enforcement officers that while on patrol that he had exchanged gunfire with a suspect who fled from him driving a sport utility vehicle south of England along State Highway 15,” the Arkansas State Police said in a statement regarding the now-former England officer’s arrest. The accused called in a traffic stop at around 2 a.m. on October 24. Shortly after calling in the stop, he reported that the driver, a Hispanic man, had shot him and he was forced to return fire. According to Houser’s version, he heroically knocked the gun out of the scary brown man’s hand and spun out of harm’s way as Mr. Hispanic Man fired his gun. He says the bullet grazed his bulletproof vest and deflected off a pen, saving him from harm. The investigation revealed that there never was a Hispanic man, and Houser had shot himself with his own gun.

“The more we investigated, the more it became clear that the details of his story were inconsistent,” England Police Chief Nathan Cook said.

There are many areas of law enforcement. I wouldn't be a beat or patrol police officer because I can imagine instances where I might engage in being physically abusive if answering a call is it certain a man had terribly assaulted a child. There also is how I might react to other officers violently assaulting someone without cause. There is an expectation that police officers wouldn't beat a clearly guilty suspect - or another police officer - into the ground.

Other areas of law enforcement? Yes.

Oh yes it is - and most of their investigators do have law enforcement badges and can make arrests. You didn't know that?

Nearly all federal government agencies have personnel who are law enforcement (cops) personnel. So do many state agencies. Not all "cops" are patrol officers or what people think as "police."

    From the IRS website:

    Law Enforcement and Investigation

Criminal Investigation (CI) is the law enforcement branch of the IRS.
Our mission is to serve the American public by investigating potential criminal violations of the Internal Revenue Code, and related financial crimes, in a manner that fosters confidence in the tax system and compliance with the law.

As an IRS CI Special Agent, you will combine your accounting skills with law enforcement skills to investigate financial crimes. Special Agents are duly sworn law enforcement officers who are trained to "follow the money." No matter what the source, all income earned, both legal and illegal, has the potential of becoming involved in crimes which fall within the investigative jurisdiction of the IRS Criminal Investigation. Because of the expertise required to conduct these complex financial investigations, IRS Special Agents are considered the premier financial investigators for the Federal Government.

I know an IRS investigator and he carries a badge and ID in his wallet and stubnose .357 mag under his jacket.

I'm too classically liberal to be a cop - I would have no desire to lock random people up for stupid stuff like pot - that or even play referee in domestic issues or have to deal with arrest quotas...

Authoritarian is not my personality type...

In my country I would, if they would take me (but I still wont) however I would not in other countries, like the US, half the time their forces are corrupt or racist, the other half the public/media is beating them up for no reason.
