I am not obsessed with defending Trump. I am merely pointing out that the level of hatred against Trump is way beyond anything I have seen in 50+ years and that the level is approaching insanity in some cases. I would bet money that many Trump haters were hating Trump long before the 1/6 charges developed. They just adopted the legal charges as their main argument when those became available.

 

He cost Republicans the last election because he's unpopular. They lost to Joe Biden, fer crissake, and almost lost to Hillary in 2016.

Democrats should be elated Trump is running because it allows them to cover up the serious fault lines between factions in their party.

 

I agree, Trump is not a good choice for the GOP. Nikki Haley would crush senile Joe. Tim Scott would too

I’m getting a kick out of realizing that while the political right is really really really against liberalism and bitches about it regularly, when it comes to a liberal interpretation of laws they’re all for it when it serves them, like their view of freedom of speech when the issue is their right wing insane and highly damaging media, or when it’s the 2nd Amendment and their interpretation of “militia” and the need for it to be “well-regulated”. In such cases it seems principle is out the window. Similarly in this case with interpreting “ban assault-style rifles” to mean “disarm us”.

The problem with most people is that they find it difficult to read between the agenda lines. Very subtle changes occur over time until the goal is achieved with the majority not noticing. If it was a sudden stripping of gun ownership, there would be massive uprisings.

 

dangerous requires both a desire and a reasonable possibility. for example, if a 90 year old woman in a wheelchair says she wants to "beat the crap" out of a police officer who is a third her age, she is not a danger.
