The Pentagon wants me to ask you if you will support a draft against a war with Iran, and failing that if you would buy Obama's beer recipe if it's sold in stores.
I was drafted into the Vietnam war, and for all intents and purpose.....we would never have had enough volunteers to support the mission over there had it not been for the draft. Having said that, I would be for a draft in a war against Iran if the conscription stipulated that only liberals, war protesters, pacifists, mamma's boys, feminists, cry babies and WSOers were to be drafted first. That would kill two birds with one stone. We would clean up all the wasteful debris here in America, and the daily death count of Americans in an Iranian war wouldn't make so much news back home where we would be left with young productive goal oriented men to do the job of growing America again.
Iran - I ran - iron - I'r on - I'm on - on and up like an iron rod. I think this makes it really hard for me now. HAHAHA How shall I respond?
I voted no to a draft in the case of a war with Iran because if NATO had not already over run Iran by the time new conscripts could be put into combat it could only be the result of an Iranian war having expanded into Wold War Three & by that time there may not be much left to fight over.
The only way I would support a draft would be if the United Sates was up **** creek. If we were with out a paddle we would be up **** creek. Romney, Ryan 2012
No need for a draft. Bomb them into submission. Don't waste our ground troops. Kill the Ayatollah's and our problems are solved.
No need for a draft. I support a 50% war tax on income above $1,000,000 while American soldiers are engaged in hostilities. Corporation and individual. Lets hear the chickenhawks and the military industrialists keep voting for if it takes a big bite out of the wallet.
How about instead of that, we draft every son and daughter of the warmongers and ship them off to the frontline? Hell, ship the warmongers there too up to the age of 55. They love war so much, let them fight it and pay for it as well. That seems a bit more justified.
With all your useless rants about warmongers have you ever appreciated the fact that America had to get and maintain its freedom through war? Is there any time in your limited understanding of our military and of our military missions that you would actually give praise and or salute the job(s) that are military is doing to keep your sorry arse free? Of course if you're a foreigner (which I expect is the case after reading a few of your anti American rhetorical rants) then just please disregard my attempt to reason with you. I do see that you're a progressive; with that I may have already answered my suspicions of you.
I'm not a draft supporter and I'm not a supporter of any war with Iran, lest they attack us first. I am, however, a fan of beer.
First off, I Don't support any war against Iran. Second, If isreal and the USA jewish people want to fight them, then they should join the military to go to war.
Drafts are usually for extreme measures. If we do go to war they'll be a lot of volunteers because no one wants to see USA lose.
I think I voted "yes draft, no obama". But on a second thought, I don't think a draft is necessary. I mean, it's not like Iran poses a threat to the US. Just bomb, bomb, bomb.. that'll do. and no, didn't change my mind about obama beer.
Things would have to be pretty extreme before it would be worth drafting people. However I don't think that would be needed, especially as we move further into an era when weapon systems are so expensive. When you're talking vehicles, aircraft, and their maintenence you've got a cost of tens of millions of dollars per actual combatant. So before a draft I think we'd see something like a massive tax and, if things ramped up enough, a shift of jobs from our luxurious service industry to military manufacturing. And before a real draft I could see groups of Americans being required to pay for a drone and weapons, either airborn or land based, and then they'd be assigned to operate it in shifts where they'd have to be at their computers killing Iranians? Maybe we'd have little computer control stations set up across the country so there was a sort of military feel to the whole thing and better security while still letting people keep their day jobs? As for the beer, I don't know about the recipie as not that many people brew, but I think there would probably be a market for Obama beer down at the local store. I'd probably give it a try if it was reasonably priced. I think something like that would be a good idea. I don't know about the numbers, and I wouldn't do the corproate rate but would ramp up capital gains tax which might be what you meant.
I would use civil disobedience and subversion if there was a draft; I like beer, but I wouldn't drink it if it were affiliated with Obama; screw that guy.
Only a profit making traitor wants a war with Iran - a country that hasn't invaded anyone in centuries.
I just wanted to point out that this is probably the best summary of the political climate and discourse among those on the right that I've ever read on the internet.
Draft would not be necessary. I would drink the beer if it were good. I think its stupid how people get so wrapped up in labels.
I'm not surprised that a right-winger would misconstrue my point. You see, there are people who are very enthusiastic about starting wars but when it comes to fighting in them, they make sure that their high-placed daddy gets them multiple deferments. These people are known as chickenhawks. These vocal supporters and their families should be the first in line to fight on the front lines. In addition, I wholly support a nice hefty ADDITIONAL tax, call it the war tax, on anyone making over $1,000,000 while we have soldiers deployed in hostile lands. These rules would apply regardless of race, creed, political affiliation or anything else that they might decide disqualifies them from serving. That includes supporting the war and then putting service on hold to do missionary work and/or finish college. If war is important enough to you, then you should put everything on hold, grab a gun and run to the nearest recruiting station. I'm guessing that these two requirements for war of any kind would all but ensure that we only fight in wars that are actually critical to our national security and it would probably shut a few of these neocons up.
Noting that I come from a time in history, when there was little question we would serve in the Military, no less than had most members has, from both sides my ancestry, some dating back to the Revolution and a good many lost during the Civil War on both sides. Not only would I support a draft, war time or not, I'd cut the pay/BENIFITS down to near nothing. I see no reason why 5% or less that do volunteer should take the chances taken, for those that won't. Before you get bent out of shape, as in the past, being sent into harms way generates additional pay/benefits, above those not sent and in peace time a couple years in a local National Guard won't hurt the babies in our population, it might even develop some good work ethics, needed today in my opinion....
