Yes, it is time for the talk. Surviving your mass shooting.

Parents of black children have had the talk. Parents of gay kids have had the talk.

Now it is time for all of you to get the talk.

Should you be confronted with an active shooter scenario, there are steps you should take to survive the ordeal.

One, if the threat is coming, then move, fast. IF you cannot escape, then shelter in place. Look immediately for a weapon.

Be planning your breakout, should it be necessary. Control breathing, and notice source and direction of shadows.

Blur eyes slightly, to accentuate any movements.

Should you be surprised and are contained within the crowd being gunned down, hit the floor. Shooters will be going for body mass. Unless it is really packed, then, the shooter will be going for head shots.

Should the shooters weapon be semi, or full auto, the recoil will make most shots at head level.

Should the rain of lead be in one stream, wait for the restbit and spring.

If you are going for a dive at shooter, and they are reloaded, or have a few left, dive low. Take out their legs. This will minimize your likelihood of taking some, and will afford an opportunity for a compatriot to gain courage to assist.

ALWAYS be moving across, never at or away.


Remember, even though they are resigned, or driven, or about to receive 72 virgins, they will be on stimulus overload too. Use distraction.

Only two victims had traces of soot, gunpowder or stippling, meaning most of the victims were likely more than 3 feet away when they were shot in the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history. The autopsies show that about half of the victims had five wounds or more, and one victim had 13 wounds.

Gunman Omar Mateen was killed during a shootout with law enforcement officers following a three-hour standoff June 12.

“It shows he shot a lot and had a lot of ammo,” said Dr. Stephen Cina, a Colorado-based forensic pathologist, who has no connection to the case.

You can turn over a new leaf, start fresh, and become a good Guy, and welcome too.

 

Take cover, and help others to a safe or safer location. If you cannot, draw your legally carried weapon, take aim, and fire until the threat is eliminated. Once the shooter is immobilized, safe your weapon, call 911, help any wounded. When police arrive, keep your hands high, notify the of your weapon, and where it's located. Tell them you will be glad to give a statement after consulting with your legal counsel.

 

In your case, that might be true. You don't strike me as the teachable type.

If you actually had attempts on your life(real,not perceived)you would realize the value of a gun.After all when you call the calvary to your rescue, what tool do they bring?

You know the best way to survive an active shooter(this should be obvious) first, if possible get the hades out of there,if that aint an option,take cover(assuming the shooter aint gone a huntin)Then hopefully your armed with more than a cell phone or a stapeler, pull your piece and return fire!!

Actually, avoiding crowds is probably the most realistic, best advice.FWIW
