No, he didn't, and he still has a 53% approval rating, the margin by which he was elected.

Hillary is no Obama. That was the problem. Obama could have easily been elected to a third term.

The same people who did the polling and say that Obama's approval ratings are 53% are the same people who came out with polls showing that Hillary would win in a land slide. :roflol:

Obama is a great President! Hillary by a landslide! Trump has no chance! Donald Trump swears in on January 20th!

Only one of these statements is true

I was, I hung up on the pollster.

I like how "Military Times" does their annual survey of the troops.

There's a approval rating of the troops of Obama's job as President of the United States. Usually in the 30% approval field for the past few years.

Then there's an approval rating of Obama handling the job as Commander in Chief. Has reached the single digits in the past few years.

Didn't they stop doing the poll, or announcing the results or something?

They stopped publishing the results for approval rating as CnC three years ago when Obama went below the 17% approval rating. That was the last approval rating published back in 2012 if I remember correctly.

They use to break down the results by branch of service including the reserves and the Guard , rank, age, race or ethnicity, gender and years of service but that disappeared four or five years ago. But it was always the Marine Corps giving Obama the lowest approval ratings with the Army next then the Air Force and the Navy giving the highest approval ratings.

The question is still asked every year in the survey but the scuttlebutt was that if the Military Times published the results the Obama White House would cut off Military Times access to the military.

But there are sources to go to too get the full results.

The last eight years have been bad! How sweet it is that it's finally over!
Oh no, by me saying such a thing, does that make me a bigot and/or (God forbid) a racist?... or maybe I'm an Islamophobe??...I've lost track...maybe all?

At least I can say that I wear the "Deplorable" badge with pride! :salute:

Not to pick on president Obama specifically but it's too bad that our country is so polarized that a 53% approval rating is seen as a good thing.

If I went to work and barely half the people approved of me, and about half disapproved of me, I wouldn't feel too popular.

    As to the OP.
    It's constitutionally forced retirement.

    I agree entirely with that.

I brought the sign to the forum, but by gosh is sure seems true to me.

By refusing Hillary, it can end things Obama claims he loves.

    Bad in comparison to what?

Pretty stupid sign don't you think?

Obama's record is commendable and it was American business owners that broke it. No one else.

No kidding! Lehman Brothers, Bear Stearns, AIG... Those companies and the Republican policies of deregulation. Obama brought us back from the edge of disaster. Yes, it is a depressingly stupid sign. It is a banner of ignorance.

    - - - Updated - - -

True, but they weren't wrong on the popular vote. She did kick his ass. Also, note that rolling around on the floor like a dog doesn't make your statement impressive. It does look stupid though.

    - - - Updated - - -

That is actually pretty good at this point and puts him in line with the most popular Presidents in history. Presidents get even more popular after they leave office. So he will likely hit or approach the 60% range.

Yea well when I run for president I'm expecting a 57% approval rating on election day, 75% at my re-election, and 90% the day I leave office.
I will be the most awesome president in history.

    I will be LEGEND!

    - - - Updated - - -

What? It could happen you don't know. I mean did you ever expect Trump to be president?

I am falling in love with that sign. I am so pleased I showed it to this forum.

Obama lied 129 times. Shoo the bum out. He at last deserves a vacation. I wager he ends his super expensive vacations paid for by taxpayers.

You know what is ignorant? With respect, the collapse was not due to deregulations done by republicans.

Bush brought the auto industry back from destruction. But you don't like the man.

What is sad is how Democrats keep telling us all they believe in the popular vote. And the stupid blunder by Hillary means she too thinks that elects presidents.

Take out the non citizens and really stupid people who voted in California, the electoral college won by Trump would be the same but Trump would also have kicked Hillary in the cankles big time winning the popular votes.

Interesting you call people in CA stupid. I bet CA has a higher GDP, GDP per capita, education achievement and is healthier than your state.

California use to have the best education system in America today it's near the bottom.

In Los Angeles County, 53% working age residents are illiterate and guess who they always vote for ?

Los Angeles has the highest rate of so-called undereducated adults of any major U.S. metropolitan area. Low-literacy rates reached 65% on the Eastside and 84% in South Los Angeles. Long Beach, Pomona, Glendale and El Monte also have large numbers of residents with English literacy problems. There are no deplorables to be found in those areas in L.A. County.

These low information and stupid people back in November voted for every tax increase, every bond issue because they think it's free money that doesn't have to be paid back and even voted for Jerry Brown's Prop 57.

Prop 57 turned violent felonies into non violet crimes.

These are the violent crimes that are no longer violent crimes in California as of January 1st.

    Rape by intoxication

    Rape of an unconscious person

Human trafficking involving sex act with minors

    Drive-by shooting

    Assault with a deadly weapon

    Taking a hostage

    Domestic violence involving trauma

Supplying a firearm to a gang member

    Lewd acts upon a child

    Hate crime causing physical injury

Failing to register as a sex offender

    Arson causing great bodily injury

    Felon obtaining a firearm

Discharging a firearm on school grounds

    False imprisonment of an elder

    This is a partial list

All of the tax increases, bonds and changes in the law like Prop 57 were passed by the stupid voters by the same percentage of votes that Hillary got.

    You're wrong again.

By any chance do you think you might have come down with "****" during the late evening of November 8th or on November 9th ?

If you did you know part of the therapy is that you have to purchase a "Make America Great Again" hat and wear it in public.

    YUP Hit the Road Jack!

    McConnell to Democrats: Grow up

Republicans faced the same situation eight years ago and sucked it up enough to get seven of Barack Obama’s picks confirmed on Inauguration Day. Now that the shoe’s on the other foot, McConnell has advice for Senate Democrats … grow up!

Republicans still had the full use of the filibuster in January 2009. Republican voters were just as unhappy with Obama’s picks as Democrats are now with Trump’s, but McConnell cooperated with the traditionally expeditious process of confirming an incoming administration. Schumer's endless whining has resulted in McConnell offering a blunt form of clarity, albeit tinged with a bit of humor.

McConnell has lots of reasons to laugh, but the biggest reason is the karmic revenge visited on his Senate opponents for stripping McConnell of the filibuster on presidential appointments. Without Harry Reid, McConnell would have to sweat out cloture on the confirmation votes, and Trump would have had to pick nominees with more cross-aisle appeal. Now all McConnell has to do is keep his own caucus in line!

    Good to go!
