    from the bible:

Shortly after the boat left the shore, a very bad storm came up and started tossing the boat around. The other sailors decided that the storm was Jonah's fault. So they threw Jonah off the boat, hoping their own luck would improve.

And that's why every Christian in every church on earth, is anxious to throw someone 'under the bus.' Christians want to have better 'luck.' So they tend to gang up on someone, and give him the boot. they think it will please God.

Did you ever get thrown out of a church?

Christians? That's humans in general. We are always looking for a scapegoat for our problems. Other races, other cultures, other religions, religion is general.... it's all the same.

Sadly it is human nature to be clickish and ostracize those who are different or out of step. The fact that this happens in religion too does not suprise me.

I left of my own accord before it could happen to me.

As a preachers kid I have seen it first hand. The inner political workings of a church are extremely vicious which was the first indication that, as a young child, I realized the level of hypocrisy in organized religion ran very deep.

Well logically, if a church wanted to throw all their members out then the church would not exist. What a stupid thread.

if things are going bad, it must be Jonah's fault.

That's what the bible teaches us.

throw the guy into the ocean, and luck will improve.

My priest when growing up was thrown out of the church a few years ago. Although no charges were filed against him you can imagine why.

It wasn't the other sailors who decided it was Jonah's fault it was Jonah himself. The sailors didn't want to throw him overboard, in fact they refused to, until the point they decided that they, including Jonah, would die anyway.

Twice. Once for basically saying that Mary was cheating with somebody because there is no way that Jesus was God's son because no father would ever let his kid be tortured and nailed to a cross. That resulted in the minister and Sunday School teacher coming to my house, and well, that went a lot worse for them than it did for me the minute they decided to blame my parents for my heathen ways. The church never allowed me back and my parents would never allow me to go back there either.

The second time is convoluted. Basically this church had a very aggressive youth outreach program and I got sucked into it just to play sports and be able to use their basketball courts whenever I wanted. I went through the motions, and over about a week, things went south. The stepson of the youth minister told someone that his stepdad was gay. The rumor spread, there was a secret meeting, and basically all teenage 12-15 yr old males were driven from the church and the youth programs eliminated, and not long after the youth minister was axed. They blamed us at the time for being horrible disrespectful people. About a year ago, said youth minister was sent to prison for a good long time for molesting one of his male relatives. I am not sure if they were trying to protect us without owning up to what was going on, or if they truly believed that we may have led the youth minister astray with our pimply good looks and musky pubescent odors, but either way, that church is really hurting for members today having ousted basically a whole generation over somebody else's sins. It alienated both the youth and their families and left mostly old people and childless couples.
