'YouTube, a popular media site for firearms enthusiasts, this week quietly introduced tighter restrictions on videos involving weapons, becoming the latest battleground in the U.S. gun-control debate.
YouTube will ban videos that promote or link to websites selling firearms and accessories, including bump stocks, which allow a semi-automatic rifle to fire faster. Additionally, YouTube said it will prohibit videos with instructions on how to assemble firearms. The video site, owned by Alphabet Inc.’s Google, has faced intense criticism for hosting videos about guns, bombs and other deadly weapons.'

The witch hunt continues...like I've always said , by necessity ,any attempt to infringe on the 2A will involve infringing on the !A

YouTube banned me after 6 uploads. My violations were copyright and adult content.

Need an outlet for my small gauge film archive. Have about 300 8mm and 16mm films to digitize and want to put online. Some of it is adult / X rated. But it is from the 1920's to 1950's...historic stuff.

I was thinking NRA TV may be a good choice for gun vids. But guess the NRA can't be associated with every crazy video with a gun.

China or Russia should start a YT for the US where we could post what we like without censorship.

    Sounds crazy huh?

But China and Russia don't care about copyright. They don't have to have their China or Russia YT open to their citizens, since they are heavily censored. Just for the US and it makes $ for them.

A private company engaged in censorship and making a political statement that will cost them business. I will do no business with a company willing to attack the Constitution.

Then why are you on this site? They censor some of the things said - and ban people who get too crazy. (not saying they aren't right to do so - just pointing out a fact).

That's a good question. At least here they're even handed, and they don't censor people's beliefs, but offensive behavior instead. You can say whatever you want regarding the issue... just don't get too aggressive about attacking other people. That's a difference I can live with.

YouTube is trying to silence an entire viewpoint, and that is not acceptable. Plain and simple.

They are not attacking anything or anyone. They are expressing their First Amendment rights as a private business owner.

If they like they can only allow Telle-Tubby videos.

yes, Youtube is a privately owned company. Websites are not considered public accomodations, as you as a human being cannot enter it as a physical space to engage in commerce or education.

Nor is Facebook, AOL, Match.com, or any other website a Public Accomodation.

But I'd love to see this go to court to make it legal precedent, that a website cannot be considered a public accomodation. That would include 1800-FLOWERS.

You are not conversant with many very simple concepts..

A website is Public access, ie no subscription requirements, anyone allowed unrestricted access, it is Public, however, they can restrict access by the Public and Require payment etc..

All entities are either Government owned or owned by Private owners and it is up to them to restrict access or have terms of service.

A Restaurant is privately owned, and it is up to the owner to have walk in customers or require reservations for service.
