Guess my original question was answered at least: debunked threads like this get so long because of the tireless efforts of those BSing their way down the yellow brick road.

Interesting. So, the factor that will tip the balance in favor of Russia in the event of a nuclear war will be the fact (?) that "their metro stations can hold millions of people", and that survivors can go live in the wilderness after the blasts. If Russians think they have problems with gangs and crime now, imagine what living in the wilderness with those creatures in the middle of a Russian winter would be like.... :eyepopping:

But, your faith in the efficacy of these metro stations as bomb shelters may be seriously misplaced if any of the information in this Quora post by a person named Ignat Solovey is correct: https://www.quora.com/How-many-people-can-the-Moscow-Metro-support-in-the-event-of-a-nuclear-attack

He indicates that even the largest of Russian 'bomb shelters' (ostensibly open to the public) would not be able to withstand a nuclear detonation larger than 5 megatons... and it is thought that in a full-scale nuclear exchange, our MIRV'd warheads would have bombs within them ranging from about 10 megatons upwards to 20 megatons (although both Russia and the U. S. reportedly have bombs >50 megatons... remember the "Czar Bomba" test way back in the 1950's?)

Nevertheless, I will be the first to bow to your expertise and knowledge concerning the seemingly indomitable advantage that Russia has in "infrastructure" (really meaning "bomb shelters"?), just as soon as you provide something about the topic besides your opinion.

The dilemma that Russia faces is that unless its tactics in the Ukraine War change, it simply cannot win a conventional war before Russian society itself becomes so chaotically unstable that 'regime change' must occur. But, if Russia employs the tactic of initiating a nuclear war instead, it guarantees its own death as a nation. Nobody wants that!

Everything was so close to a mutually-satisfactory situation between the EU and Russia with the opening of the Nord Stream II pipeline... literally a mere two or three months down the road from one year ago. But, for reasons that are not completely clear, Putin decided by mid-2021 that he would invade Ukraine, ostensibly because of the failure of the Minsk Agreements. That opportunity for mutual prosperity with 'the West', sadly, is now impossible to re-create, but if everybody involved in this horrific mess will stop fighting and start negotiating, at least we can back away from the specter of the total annihilation of civilization as we know it....

Why don't you start bowing then. Unlike you, I have been there, seen the infrastructure, seen the cities, seen the layouts. Furthermore, I lack the rah rah rah Cold War mindset as I know better (now). That coupled with my engineering/architecture background, it becomes quite obvious which nation is better prepared for any tit for tat nuclear exchange. Russia may survive, but the U.S. clearly wouldn't.

Now you're off to more nonsense about Russia not being able to win a conventional war. They haven't even started a conventional war yet. Vlad is not going anywhere. You can thank the West for that. Sanctions and weapons/NATO being in "the ukraine" ensure Vlad's status. He is more popular now than in the last 8 years. The fact you don't know that....well....I can tell you keep swallowing what the fake news is feeding you. Like your comments about gangs and crime. It's projection.

This conflict is 100% caused by the U.S. It started before 2014 but came to a head in 2014. It is what it is. If the US would have stayed the **** out of the neighborhood, none of this would have happened. If the US wouldn't have sabotaged the pending peace deal in April (maybe you don't even know about it) by sending stooge Boris to Kyiv, then this conflict would have been over long ago. Look into the mirror. It's the US that has unclean hands. Just like every foreign adventure since 1950.

I appreciate your perspective, but I see that it's pointless to argue with you about any of this. So, I'll continue to read your posts and see if a way develops to be able to 'build' your point of view into the confine of the facts, as they appear to be.

Frankly, until this whole Ukraine War blew up, I had been thinking that Putin was 'the smartest kid on the block'. Armed with his Ph.D in Economics, and other education, he was putting the icing on the cake of a wonderful energy deal with the EU that my German friends were very happy to see coming about! Nord Stream II was going to be keystone in an overarching, new trade background between Russia and the EU, in spite of the lingering disagreements about Crimea, which Putin undertook mostly to guarantee the security of the Russian Navy's Black Sea Fleet.

You are wrong if you think that Conservatives like myself "hate" Russia... but you are even more wrong if you think that Russia can survive an all-out nuclear war with NATO. Russia could deal NATO tremendous damage and loss of life, but Russia would simply cease to exist once Moscow, St. Petersburg, and about four or five other cities were destroyed. I still maintain that nobody (NOBODY) wants any of that to happen. Have a happy day, and try to remember -- people like me are not necessarily your "enemy", or that of the people of Russia.... :sun:

You can do whatever in the hell you want to do....and continue to make uneducated opinions about a place you lack a basic understanding of. Be my guest. But if you really wanted to know the truth, you'd get off your ass and go see it for yourself first hand. Like I did.

But I'm sure you will try to spin it so there isn't much point in discussing it with you. We're finished and so are you.

This, since you apparently do not realize it, actually discredits your argument, that Esau's merely having "invested a great deal of time on American-dominated discussion forums," would be a basis for his knowing, "quite a bit about the educational system in the US."

So, to all indications, telling someone that they're "finished"-- and in so doing, confirming my stated impression, that you were not the type to actually learn anything, from your online "debates"-- is your way of admitting defeat and/or congratulating the other debater. I will answer, "thank you," in politeness, just in case.

Thank you, also, for your service to our country, even if I have serious doubts about both the necessity, and the validity, of our war in Vietnam.

I don't think a madman like Putin would allow any one of us to go see him in person to witness the madness. Just because Russians live life like most people around the world is not reflective on being oppressed by a brutal Nazi like dictator.

Today is a very different story. Notice how the 'bridge" stamp shows 2 separate explosions? Wonder what went wrong?

...uh-huh... Ukraine, which did not even exist as a country until the Russian revolution just over a hundred years ago...? Hint: As they say on Broadway, "Don't get lost in the part!"

I am ALWAYS sceptical when speakers claim, “ …. as I said before …” in this case, “as I did before February 24”. Such tactics are cheap and meant to give their statement credibility as though it has already been established.

Zelensky is a moron. He has all the intellectual prowess of Joe Biden. But this is the new trend and it ought to tell us that these people are not really running the show. Bush Baby Junior, Maxine Waters, Hank Johnson, Hillary Clinton, and Sarah Palin in the US. Magdalena Andersson, Fredrik Reinfeldt, Gudrun Schyman, Jonas Sjöstedt, Stefan Löfven and Annie Lööf in Sweden. MORONS, all of them.

Supposedly, Ukrainians in a brilliant operation at early morning blew up part of important supply artery of Russian forces, who invade their country. As revenge, Russians shelled with winded rockets.... bicycle and pedestrian bridge in the city center on Monday rush hour. And they are so ****ing stupid, that they are even proud of it and showing their "achievement" to all the World, so everyone can rate the level of moral and intellectual degradation of Russia.

    .......... but ..........
Something is missing here. Is it the NoKrainiums who are boasting over the death of innocent people or is it the Russians who are boasting? The two of you seem to be in complete disagreement on the point.

Yes, Russians are celebrating their great achievement - while the army and special services of Russia has been humiliated by Ukrainians, they bravely bomb civil infrastructure of Ukraine and are very happy about it. Just because they are cowards and moral cripples, and think, that it is a good idea to show their "advantages" to all of the world.

TOS and common decency require that when we quote a source that we provide a link to that source. Are you demanding that a fellow poster violate TOS?

If you don't like my source, you do realize that you have a search bar and the requisite brain cells to find your own?
