It is absolutely TRUE and most of the country has known it since the decision was handed down. But I'm not surprised that you never heard it from any of the RW talking heads who were too busy trying to make Gore look like a criminal for contesting the election to be truthful about the outcome.

I do not know a single liberal who takes a dim view of personal responsibility. My sense of personal responsibility led me to join the U.S. Navy after High School because I was not ready for college and did not want to waste my parents money. It also led me to stay in the Navy for 13 years to help defend my country. When I got out of the Navy I joined the NC Army National Guard for two years. When the surgery the VA performed did not correct my medical problem, I asked the Guard for a discharge because I was not deployable and did not want to take up a billet for someone else. I workedmy butt off at jobs I really did not like while my wife went to college and got her Bachelors. Now, I am going to school to get a better education and help improve society.

Being Liberal does not mean we do not want personal responsibility. On the contrary, I demand personal responsibility. You are responsible for your actions. However, to say that President Bush has NO responsibility for the situation the country was in when President Obama took office means you are excusing a conservative of his personal responsibilities.

Many so called 'moderates' are just people who want to have it all.. they want to appear to be above the fray, & are superior to the quibbling masses. But in most cases, these moderates turn out to be closet leftists.. they just are not comfortable coming out & coming to terms with their socialist side.

I do think the politicians & the money people in govt promote the divisions in the country.. it gives them a free hand in the continuing plunder. They can always find a 'side' that will embrace them.

We the people need to wise up. We should see through the divisiveness, class, & ideological warfare that is pushed upon us. We need to think through our values, & decide what kind of nation we want. Every generation needs to do this. Too many now are throwing up their hands in despair & hopelessness.

And what did we get in a man who was a mediocre high school student who did drugs and was an alcoholic and was allowed to enter colleges that he would not have been qualified to enter based on his grades, but was allowed to enter because of his father's legacy? And who then graduated as a C student? Do you have Bush's transcripts and writings from his college days? What did he write? Did he write a thesis? Do you have that?

And where is your proof that he was "allowed to enter because of his color" and "given" his grades to prove that Harvard was not racist? That he did not earn his Magna cum Laude which is indicative of an impeccable record and far, far above a C average? I know it makes RWers feel better to denigrate this man as much as possible to validate their own feelings about having a "man of color" in the Oval Office but I'd like for you to offer some proof of these scurrilous claims that you know his grades "are not reflective of previous Law Review Presidents" - a position he was ELECTED to - not given - and specify which actions of his as president shows that he doesn't understand the Constitution. IMPO, having taught Constitutional Law for several years, he's certainly more knowledgeable about it than his predecessor who considered it to be "just a piece of paper" that he ran end runs around at every opportunity because he had "special war powers" that gave him "absolute authority" to do anything he (*)(*)(*)(*) well pleased - and did - to the great detriment of this country.

Conservatives need to give some thought to what it reveals about them when they write such tripe as this out of nothing more than sour grapes and outrage that a "man of color" was successful in his school career and went on to become POTUS. It's not very becoming.

Most intelligent people hardly ever talk or brag about, or are even aware of their superior intellect, nor would they point finger from a perceived pedestal.

Why do you think there are no conservative newspaper editors, teachers, news journalists, writers, producers, actors, and so forth? I've always thought that was really strange. What DO Cons do?

When I listen to Rush Limbaugh - whose purpose in life is supposedly to get out the Conservative POV - all I hear is juvenile name calling to the point I seldom know who he's talking about and then drooling tirades of "Liberals are evil, mean, criminals, traitors, cowards, Godless, soulless, baby killers, yada yada" which tells me nothing of the Cons POV other than their hatred for Liberals. It's not surprising to me that studies show that people who get their news from Fox News know less than people who get no news at all and I'm reminded of that every time somebody posts something that's commonly known and a Cons calls it a "liberal lie".

So, by your own admission, it's not that Obama hasn't tried to work with Republicans - it's that Republicans have refused to work with him in any way whatsoever to aid the recovery and have deliberately obstructed and sabotaged a recovery as a campaign strategy?

LOL! I bet it's scary to see the economy beginning to recover in spite of everything Repubs/Cons have done to try to prevent it! :-D

    I am a Liberal an a Democrat.

I am not Socialist, nor do I like Communism

    I believe in Capitalism.

I own my own business and have never received Gov. aid other than police protection.

    I believe in individual responsibility.

    I believe in Fiscal responsibility.

I believe hard work should be rewarded.

I believe in a strong Family unit guided by a strong set of morals.

In the end, I believe 95% of the forum has absolutely no idea what it means to be a Liberal. They seemed to be locked into some sort wild fantasy that liberals are communists that want nothing more than to sit back and do nothing.

To me, being a Liberal is simply doing everything possible to prevent society from returning to Feudalistic/Aristocratic society that most of our American ancestors fled from. I simply do not want to be ruled or bullied by an un-elected private individual who acquired massive wealth and power in an un-regulated, free for all society that the right advocates. I need these regulations in order to continue to enjoy the freedom my wealth has brought me, as opposed to being shut out by someone with more money and desire.

those descriptions are good labels so yes, conservatives are evil imo because they don't like to give welfare to the poor from their tax dollars quite simply.

That does not make them evil. I am a Liberal and do not like my tax dollars supporting those who are perfectly capable of getting jobs and working. I see welfare as a needed evil but it is also necessary to do a better job at getting these people off welfare and give them the skill they need to support themselves. Put our social workers to work finding out why these people are on welfare and social aid and take the needed steps to make them capable of living and supporting themselves.

The modern Republican party is more big government than the Democrats. Nearly as bad economically, far worse on social issues. The only Republicans, and politicians in general, really, that are worth a (*)(*)(*)(*) are libertarians.

I rarely agree with Horowitz. He's a pompous ass. This however I have found to be true. Name any problem, sociological, criminal, financial, legal or political and a liberal will demand government action. Often it is if evil, ban it, if rich, tax it, if fattening regulate it.

Most notable though is in the academic community where left wing ideology is religion. Try to put up a poster about the global warming hoax in a university campus and you will get kicked out. But they will pay billionaire Al Gore $50,000 to speak.

And, yes, when they lose an argument it ALWAYS becomes personal...usually beginning with the assertion that you are not only wrong, but deliberately so.

Then they call YOU a name caller.

You know, I would bet that if you actually stopped name calling on both sides, realize that we are all Americans (and I am talking only to the Americans), and take the time to rationally talk to each other then you would find that we have more in common. Liberals are not Marxist's waiting to get rid of Capitalism and the Free Market. Conservatives are not all gun-toting, bible thumping Theocrats who just want to use the poor as slave labor for big business. EAch of us care about this country. There was a time when people would talk and not scream at each other. The political idealogs have managed to divide the population in such a way that we do not even see each other as Americans anymore. Wake the heck up, Folks! Our military does not serve just red states. Our military does not serve just blue states. They serve us all. Our military has conservatives and liberals in it. They do not care about party affiliation. Maybe we shouldn't either.

The exact same can be said for conservatives. Both sides act like little children and seldom actually talk to each other. Generalizations run rampant because actually talking to each other would be humanizing. Stop the name calling and start the dialog.

Your response alone here is hypocrisy, as it is itself trolling.

Yes - on every board, including this one. I have two mods demerits in my entire post history.

Um...what? I give my opinion, and I support my opinion with facts. You're going to have to do better than that.

Oh brother. Your entire post was exactly what you just accused me of doing, and you do not see the hypocrisy of that?

My response in that thread wasn't trolling; I was making a point germane to the topic. Yours, however, was trolling - which is why the moderator erased it (and the Shiva is hardly a Conservative, so you will fail to hide behind the skirt with the excuse of mod favoritism like mamooth attempted) and you posted failure of a personal attack more that 30 minutes before my post regardless.

Your post response here - and there - is a FAIL on every level.

I'm going to assume that this is directed at me, so allow me to answer it.

Why would I not know about my own IQ level? And further, why would I not use that information as a direct rebuttal of the overarching generalized attack against Conservatives? IQ is not something I ever mention unless it is in response to direct attacks against IQ - but it is certainly a trump card.

I completely disagree with your statement. Someone who is very intelligent would be utterly self-unaware if they didn't know at least in general of their standing wrt to intelligence; the post to which I responded (and it is at least the 3rd post of its type in this forum) set the pedestal from which to impugn Conservatives.

I just spoke from a higher pedestal. So...some advice: if you complain about someone speaking from a "perceived pedestal", it would be best to first object to the initial pedestal erected.

Oh, i am aware of it.. but you are right, i would never brag or point a finger from a pedestal.. :)

I think too much is made of the division.. the us vs them mentality. We could find a lot of things we agree on, & demand our politicians speak to those points. But as long as they keep us focused on partisan differences.. many of which do not even have an issue.. we keep fighting among ourselves.

What issues do we disagree on? Let's spell them out. Where do we agree? Let's settle those & move on to the next problem. Sure, there are the radically extreme on any side. We will never be able to please them or find any compromise. But most of us are in the middle somewhere. I think 'we the people' can get things done, & promote unity & a common purpose. With the serious problems facing the country, especially with the debt, it can be done.. it must be done. We are on a sinking ship, & we need to solve the problem, not argue about what's for dessert.

The really tough thing about humility is you can’t brag about it.

I believe 95% of the forum has observed (some for decades, some for a few short years) liberals stand up and subversively and more recently radically violent...in support of exactly the opposite of everything you cited as being liberal.

They do the rioting, the welfare state enabling, the soft on criminal schtick, the utter destruction of the education system (inclusive of removing even the tiniest of moral standards) on and on.

Barry was LEFT of the only actual socialist in your government!?

It is good you stand where you do. Admirable. But you know there is a very good reason people more than ever are spitting the word liberal out their mouths like a bad bit of earwax.

Because they realize whose ideology foisted all this crap on society. Sorry...but we are even having this conversation, because of the above truth on that societal awareness, and reckoning.

    7. Liberals give themselves far too much credit just for being liberal. To many liberals, all one needs to do to be wise, intelligent, compassionate, open minded, and sensitive is to BE LIBERAL. ...

You can thank Obama for America's newfound disdain for everything liberal. Cramming Obamacare down our throats even though the majority of Americans were against it was the final straw. Everything he's done after that pales in comparison.

Liberalism is dying in America. People are ready to get back to the basics of personal responsibility and individualism.

I never said there are NO conservative newspaper editors, teachers, etc., but there are many more libs than cons in those fields.

And how do YOU know it's not BECAUSE Republicans have stood in the way of even more socialist programs that the economy's slowly recovering? If Barack had his way, we'd be at least another trillion $ in debt.

Did the voices tell you the liberals think this way? I just ask because I rarely encounter these terrible liberals you describe, so the logical conclusion is you're assigning strawman positions to liberals.

A fine illustration of the conservative professional-victim mindset, as exemplified by David Horowitz.

How would you know? I mean, when has a liberal ever lost an argument with you?

No, it's when you repeatedly post the same falsehoods that have already been debunked multiple times on the same thread that we conclude this. See any global warming thread for examples.

Do you even read the global warming threads? I'm constantly referred to as "envirowhacko", "left wing shill", "true believer" and "socialist", among other things. Your side always leads off with such attacks.

Again, please don't project the way you think on to us. It only makes you look bad, not us.

You can't find any liberals displaying the qualities you swear all liberals possess. Stuck in your conservative media feedback loop, you've even been bamboozled to the extent of believing the media is liberal. Given how far gone into unreality you appear to be, what's the point in speaking with you? You look like a religious zealot, with hating liberals being your religion.
