Guten Tag. Wie geht es dir? ------------------------------ I'm learning German but I have no one to talk to. Just teaching myself on the internet. Only been learning for a little over a month. Ich spreche nur ein bisschen Deutsch.
Does the whole German sentence structure make everyone elses head spin at times? Anywho........ Ich hasse Gartenarbeit. (yeah, I looked up how to say Gardening. Sue me.)

Quite awhile ago I watched this Youtube about Germany's younger generation of entertainment. Different groups singing and yodeling, one tall dude playing an instrument, which was really good.... 2 young boys singing in German, the youngest yodeling and I think the 2 girls who were roller bladeing and singing were called "The Twinnies"...... I liked it and liked their music. One thing I noticed was at this particular place, they mixed adults and kids together to do their thing and I like that... those kids are talented.
It has been a long time since I spoke German daily, but during my tour of duty there, I spoke more German than English. Now, unfortunately, I have little opportunity to speak or write in German. But in December, I will at long last recieve my full retirement and shall have a lot of time, perhaps to learn to write poetry in German. In the mean time, if I can help you, send me a PM and I will do what I can.
So what did you think was the most important to learn? Some things I've read say to learn the grammar, some say that doesn't matter as you'll just pick it up as your vocab increases and you start to understand more you listen to and/or read. The grammar is pretty hard to remember. So many rules. The verb goes there, except in these 45 different exceptions.

Yeah, I've heard the sausages are good, but I've heard that Austria looks better. I hate all beer though.
I can't pretend to write in German anymore, though I still understand a lot of the spoken language. You'll know you're making progress when you start understanding humor, such as the "politically incorrect" Otto Waalkes: English for Runaways: Smurfs (Schlümpfe): Volunteer Fire Department: It may sound silly, but you may also want to check out German soap operas on YouTube such as "Verbotene Liebe" (Forbidden Love) or "Alles was zählt" (All that matters). You may even luck out and find some that have English captions.
How about a German comedian in English (introduced by stereotypical English pub landlord)
(The Germans are very efficient, for example if you buy a movie ticket in a theater...it is assigned seating, even if the theater is empty you are instructed to sit in your assigned seat.)
