The media reported public police records. Z told police he was white. Are you calling him a liar?

In all George's applications and licenses he lists himself as white.

Not allegedly, dear. . .that encounter is very well documented, and the results (getting off lightly by being redirected to a anger management and alcohol/drug programs) is also documented. . .even by Zimmerman himself, since he bragged about it on in social site!

Fair enough. Let's run with that for the sake of argument here. How does that change the other part? The fact that the state only decided to press charges after public pressure heated up due to excessive and distorted media coverage? The public directly influence the justice system. And the media directly influenced the public. So the media basically got Zimmerman put on trial. Justice is supposed to be blind. If it is bending to public opinion, that is not justice.

Killing an unarmed teen is not something to be fluffed off.

You're still missing the point. The media is not supposed to impact the the justice system. Whatever the justice system decides is supposed to be based on its own conclusions. If it can be altered by public pressure, this is NOT objective justice. It's coercion. And the only reason it's not bothering you here is because you believe Zimmerman is guilty. So you are missing the bigger problem. A problem that could just as easily land you or me in jail for something we didn't do because the media decided to portray us in a light that made the public hostile to us. The court of public opinion is now controlling the justice system.

That's nonsense.. The "Media" has been around since long before Lizzy Borden......... and the public has always been interested.

Completely wrong. It was a racist SPD that refused to investigate a murder. It was a racist SPD that drug tested the the victim and not the shooter. The media, with the help of he people, have made sure that a family gets justice for their murdered kid. It is the spotlight of the media that has made sure that nuts can't just shoot innocent people at random without consequences.

It's even sadder that you told everyone Z would never be arrested, never charged, be granted immunity, never go to trial, and Obama would be a 1term president.

And that I'm now publicly reminding everyone that I was right all along and that you lost to me. :nana:

Okay, you're still not getting it. And I'm not sure you're going to. I'm going to try one more time and if you don't get it, I'm going to stop responding.

In this case involving George Zimmerman. The state of Florida had already decided not to file charges against him. They had concluded that this was the correct choice based on their own evaluation. Then the media picked up this story. The media distorted the information. Using outdated pictures of both Zimmerman and Martin - making Zimmerman looking like a criminal and Martin look like a child. NBC also edited Zimmerman's 911 call to make him sound racist. And were forced to issue a public apology when they got busted on it. ABC jumped to conclusions on grainy police video when they could not see any visible wounds on Zimmerman's head. Painting him as a liar. And then there was the ever popular "(*)(*)(*)(*)ing coons/punks" incident. These distortions were broadcast everywhere and went viral. The public, in predictable fashion, emotionally reacted just as the media had baited them to do. After excessive public pressure over the incident, the state of Florida changed its mind and decided to file charges against Zimmerman. Not because they re-evaluated the evidence and decided it was the proper course of action. But purely because they were afraid of the public.

THIS IS NOT JUSTICE. IT IS MOB RULE.

If you do not understand this, then you are part of the problem. Not part of the solution.

It makes me sad. I knew mental illness was rampant, but not at this level until now.

    - - - Updated - - -

Did I now? Where? That delusion of yours just kicks in withoiut warning doesn't it!
The delay in his arrest is a clear indication that he shouldn't have been arrested, he obviously shouldn't be prosecuted, and Obama being a 1 term president is the wish of the overwhelming majority of Americans these days!

An arrest isn't always immediate...... they have time to collect evidence before charging someone.

I believe this is incorrect. As I recall the SPD lead homicide investigator recommended that Zimmerman be charged with manslaughter and it was the local prosecutor that decided against filing the charges recommended by the police department.

From a law enforcement standpoint I believe the following is the correct sequence of events.

The lead SPD investigator recommoned criminal charges.
The local prosecutor rejected the police departments' recommendation and didn't file charges.
The state prosecutor's office re-investigated the case and filed charges.
The courts have twice reviewed the evidence of the state prosecutor and have, in both cases, determined that enough evidence exists to prosecute the case.

The question is no longer whether Zimmerman should face prosecution but instead whether his actions were an actual criminal violation of the law.

It is now up to the prosecution to prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. There is no burden on the defense to prove that Zimmerman is innocent.

I agree here. I am glad to see that unlike Margot and the other zimmerphobes you acknowledge that the Prosecution must prove their case. Most of what teh Zimmerphobes seem to insist is that Zimmerman must prove his side.

Actually the State Attorney Norm Wolfinger refused to charge George the night of the murder because only two of the witnesses who had called 911 claimed that George was the victim and none of the forensic evidence had been collected.

Wolfinger was reportedly at the crime scene hours after the shooting. Think about it. Wolfinger left his warm. comfy bed on a rainy night and drove 50 miles to view a crime scene?

Wolfinger eventually recused himself due to some conflict of interest.

So the Wolfinger who apparenlty had a conflict of interest and without all of the evidence being collected rejected the lead homicide detectives recommendation and decided not to press charges. To my knowledge no one witnessed the entire chain of events that evening leaving only Martin, who's dead, and Zimmerman as being the two people who knew what happened. We can also now understand why a new prosecutor needed to be assigned to the case because Wolfinger should have recused himself immediately from the case due to the conflict of interest.

Interesting but it doesn't specifically have any bearing on what a jury will eventually decide. None of this per se is admissible in court because its unrelated to the criminal complaint.

Margot and other "zimmerphobes" that I know NEVER stated that it wasn't the burden of the prosecution to prove their case. . .but what exactly is to prove seems to be a vague notion in his case.

I believe that the prosecution doesn't need to prove that Zimmerman intended to murder the unarmed teenager, but merely that his use of a deadly weapon was UNNECESSARY because he was not in "immediate danger of death or deadly injury" and a normal, average person would not have felt it necessary to KILL the unarmed kid to put an end to a mere fist fight, especially with the police on its way, and Zimmerman knowing it (in fact he stated in the Hannity interview that he was screaming for help because he thought the police was already there).

Then you would be wrong. The prosecution must prove that Zimmemrnan's claim that Martin attacked him first is false. Since Zimmerman claims that Martin tried to grab his gun then the prosecution MUST PROVE that it wasn;t the case'.

    - - - Updated - - -

    'Then you would fail.

Zimmerman claims that Martin attacked him first and that martin attempted to grab his gun and told him ýou are going to die tonight''.

If that is true then Zimmemrn is NOT GUILTY. The prosecution must PROVE that it isn;t true.

I never stated that it had any bearing on the case, I just wanted to toss my two cents in about what actually happened and that this case was mishandled from the beginning.

There is none of Trayvon's DNA on George's gun and in Osterman's book he claimed that Trayvon actually had the gun and he and George were fighting over it.

Furthermore George has no credibility and has told many versions about what occurred that night so even if Trayvon hit him first it could have been for a very good reason and we will never know the truth.

BTW why would someone who wasn't already in possession of the gun say something stupid like that?

I believe that George flipped a lot of the dialogue that occurred that night around and it was George who told Trayvon that he was going to die that night as George held Trayvon at gunpoint.
