You mean rejoice that for once the Left did not succeed in a blatant attempt to pervert the course of justice?

What you are offering here is that if Zimmerman had better options then therefore he is in error(which is debatable). But the definition of being 'wrong' or 'in error' or 'dumb' isn't predicated on if a person had a better option, but acted within a reasonable spectrum of what a likewise concerned citizen/watchman would do. Getting out of his truck may have not been advisable to some but it isn't unreasonable.
As for cops being on their way it appears that Zimmerman had had experience with 'cops being on their way' and not ever catching the 'guy'. Trained cops do not catch burglars that aren't there anymore. Remember, from Zimmermans perspective it was plausible that Martin was either an active criminal or had possibly committed a crime. He didn't know but was concerned enough to call non emergency and not 911. The police catching Martin had a potential value that you now know didn't exist, Zimmerman wasn't privy to knowing the future.

    Respectfully,

You think that this is about Left and Right?

Good God.. there is just no limit to ridiculous thinking.

BTW.. the jury didn't find that Trayvon was trying to murder George.

Try critical thinking with less emotion.

    Sadanie,
It was an analogy as to illustrate a point.

Hahahaha! This is sooooooooo about Left and Right. The Left concocted a fable about a man's skin color in order to railroad him into an unnecessary [according to Florida laws] trial, to falsely make it a White versus Black issue. The right got angry over the left's blatant efforts to pervert the course of justice in this nation and began speaking out.

Considering that the court found Zimmerman was in reasonable fear of grievous bodily harm that means that Martin was trying to kill him. It's terrible when logic is used in order to promote reality, but there you have it.

You mention skin color in most of your posts... so obviously its an issue for you.

Stop projecting.. it makes you look foolish.

True, you was never a victim of a teenager walking home from a convenience store . But you also weren't saved by a concerned citizen or a watchman volunteering to protect you either. Ironically, you needed a George Zimmerman. Some guys watch TV, go fishing and hang out with the guys. Other guys attend HOA meetings and volunteer for their neighbors and get beat up for their efforts.

Leftwingers desperately trying to railroad a man because of the color of his skin WAS what the trial was all about -- well it was about that and about their ideological hatred of something that actually played no part in the trial itself, the Stand Your Ground Law. This trial process was a showcase of leftwing politics and ideology from beginning to end. The fact that you deny it is . . . amusing.

That's BS.. George was trained not to follow and not to get out of his car..

My sons are in NW.. and they follow the rules rather than creating a liability for the HOA because they don't act out, carry guns and imagine themselves to be Dirty Harry.

George has a problem.. He 's meek and mild and underneath he's a belligerent bully with low self esteem .. and inch away from exploding.. Since the verdict he's had three speeding tickets and two encounters with the law.. one for menacing behavior and the other for theft.

    Wait for the next episode.

Maybe you should work on your analogies . .to make them a little more related to the subject at hand?

You're kidding, right? You really think I needed a "George Zimmerman" to save me from child molesters?

Haven't you heard? George Zimmerman WAS a child molester. . .he molested his cousin!
Yep. . .you sure know how to pick your heroes! :roflol:

There was a legitimate reason why he got out of his vehicle. It was brought out at the trial . . . which apparently went un-watched by some of Martin's most passionate defenders and Zimmerman's most passionate haters. It's weird that they post so much about it -- and with such utter certainty -- when it's obvious that they actually failed to watch very much of it.

Minor doesn't mean child. Florida has many of these minor children in prison for adult crimes. I wonder if they are pushed around in strollers or set up lemonade stands out in the 'Yard'?
Heck, I wonder if they serve baby formula at lunch!

    Good point. Let me add another;

"So the verdict is in.. I didn't start this thread.. but its very offensive continuing to trash the Civic minded volunteer that had his life destroyed and mock the grief of Zimmerman's parents.

We haven't heard the last of George since he has had his ability to earn a living stolen from him"

The "civil minded volunteer" has a history that doesn't show that he is "civic minded" but instead that he may be suffering from the "hero syndrome!" In fact, he has been falling into situations (before and after the trial) that demonstrate that he has no interest in others. . .but only in "looking good!"

I am really curious what you find so "saintly" about this guy. . .he has NO redeeming characteristics. . .he has been a loser all his life, and has been playing the "victim role" while trying to appear as the "hero!"

I do feel sorry for his parents. . .they know their son is a loser, they have known that for a long time! I'm sure they're pretty nice people. . .and didn't deserve the kind of son they got! a 28 year old man who can't even finish school and keeps on needing his father's influence to get out of trouble!

Yes, I do feel sorry for them. . .but at least their son is alive! Trayvon Martin was only 17 and he is DEAD!

Why so much hatred? You are not doing justice to your avatar!

I can't believe that someone who is so uninformed about this case can have accumulated so much hatred toward an unarmed, slain teenager!

As has already been established, thanks to Stand Your Ground, Trayvon Martin did nothing illegal by using force to confront someone he had every reason to believe was an imminent threat - his actions were unwise (as one might expect from a teenager), but not illegal.

It can be argued (perhaps rightfully) that, thanks to Stand Your Ground, George Zimmerman did nothing illegal by using force to defend himself when Trayvon became a physical threat - his actions leading up to that point were unwise, but arguably not illegal.

So, there is a clear example of how SYG enables death of citizens any time two or more people are in conflict and at least one of them decides they are threatened.
The issue is larger than Martin and Zimmerman. SYG is just a bad law. What are we doing about it?

There is nothing wrong with the law. You are just strange. If you think stand your ground, means attacking someone, that's fruit cake level logic.

How you get from "stand your ground" to "assault someone on the street", and think that makes sense, is beyond the rational thinking of most people on this forum.... unless they happen to be debating this topic.

I promise you, if a white republican NRA member, had done what Trayvon did, and claimed "stand your ground", you'd be crucifying him somewhere.

Use of force against an imminent threat is in the law. Your lack of familiarity with it does not justify ad hominem attacks.

That sounds like another unfounded assertion. Did you see anything about me "crucifying" the guys in the article below?

BTW, can you provide a link to any Australian website that substantiates the alleged quote in your signature?

Not correct. Zimmermn was merely following AMrtin which is not grounds to attack Zimmerman.
Stand your ground is not even applicable in this case

Once again SYG was not an issue here.

    - - - Updated - - -

Zimmerman did not pose an imminant threat. An immenant threat is not someone following you. It is someone actually raising a fist to hit you or raising a gun and tellingyou he is going to shoot.

That is correct. It was a simple matter of being in fear of serious bodily injury, a state of mind which the jury found that Martin placed supine Zimmerman in after breaking his nose and while pounding the man's head against the concrete. Boom! One legal act of self-defense committed by Zimmerman in order to save his endangered life. End of story.

No one stole anything from George.

George did it to himself... unless you think everyone except George is responsible???

George quit his job the morning after he shot Trayvon and then set up a website begging for money.. He's made videos and TV apearances.

Right... Because teenagers being followed around at night by strange men who choose not to identify themselves have no reason to feel threatened...

Right... Why would SYG be relevant in a self defense case where the victim (whichever one you want to claim) defended himself against a perceived threat while in an area that he was legally entitled to be in... Oh, wait... That's almost the exact wording of Florida's SYG...

    Once again, Fail.

I take it you didn't hear the news story about the guy who felt bullied by his three neighbors, so he got his gun, waited several hours and then shot all three of them and used SYG as his defense...? I believe that also occurred in Florida.
