I think Putin's concern is only towards the Russian people since they feel they were deserted by their country. He said the Germans should sympathize with that, since Russia was one of the few nations in Europe who supported the unification of Germany.

Unfortunately that window will remain open until February 2017 at the best. Putin can snarf up an awful lot of Eastern Europe in 34 months.

Maybe Europe might burn a few brain cells on the possibility of curtailing their free stuff machines long enough to defend themselves in the interim.

Sounds like his advisors have connections with NATO advisors...
Because without massive armies you cannot take over a country with a population of 5.5 million (Finland), Russian and Finnish armies don't yet have the big massive numbers yet.
For that, fear is needed or a threat of a take over (propaganda first), that fear will cause organisation of the Finnish people (that are put in motion politically) So this only has to do with causing change (in emotion, the higher level of emotions in a population the more that population starts to organize., has to do with survival of a group (every group in nature does the same in fear, organize)
Tip for Russian and Finnish people; don't move (movements in populations are the historical problem)

The link loaded too slowly for me to wait so I can't evaluate the adviser. However, there are other considerations. Only 1% of the population of Finland is Russian, and for most of its history, Finland was part of Sweden. There are other border nations which have a larger percentage of Russians.

It would be strangely aggressive of Putin because even though not a member of NATO, Finland is a member of the EU, which is now an integrated as a nation. So an attack on Finland would be like an attack on Alaska, and the probability is very high that NATO would respond. It would also be the last straw, in the sense that the invasion of Poland by Germany was the last straw for Europe, and Putin is old enough to understand the implications of that.

In addition, Putin did withdraw a token number of soldiers from the border with Ukraine. That shows that Putin isn't at a wild beast emotional level.

Hopefully Putin doesn't believe what is being said about Obama, which is only partisan politics. I don't mean that people should stop criticizing Obama if they want. But it needs to be made clear to Putin that those charges aren't really true, but are only campaign statements. Americans often say things that aren't true for political reasons.

comments like snake cutters do give people like Putin who are used to a controlled press a certain impression. The same sort of comments like tax cutter makes encouraged the Japanese and germans to attack thinking America would be a push over. taxcutter is a traitor.

Obama's weakness is not in his reaction to Russia as is assumed, but in his subservience towards the neo cons and moneyed power brokers controlling our inconsistent foreign policy. It lacks any segment of integrity thus the comment by Putin when mention was made of International law: 'Well at least he realizes there is such a thing.' :oldman:

As I told you: Russia invades into Finland, Russia will get in trouble. In that case Russia will be confrontated with a reborn Wehrmacht. That wopuld and will dramatically change all. Germany is not Ukraine, Tax, we are not Poland, not Ukraine, not Finland.

If Putin is so crazy, he will face the reborn german Wehrmacht and the most taff fights Europe has been faced. I cannot imagine any german with common sense who would wait until they arrive at the Oder.

But again: Russia wont dare to go so far, because they know:

Germany without a second front in the west is furiously fighting - in that case: Russia wont have fun. This is Germany, not Ukraine Tax. Different spirit in fighting. We are sick of fighting and wars, we say: never again. But if germans are forced, they will do what has to be done and that wont be simply some Oktoberfest - that will be Wehrmacht 2.0 vs. Putins army - Nato included. Germany France and Britain combined with the US troops will be a nightmare to Putin.

Why on earth should he go so far?

I doubt that Russia would eaven have an easy going with just Finland.

I think Finland would make them suffer. But Germany feels as Finland is our budy in the EU. That would cause extreme reactions here.

If Britain does back Germany with the navy, France with aircrafts, no western front...the second front was allways Germanys problem. Without 2 fronts, Germany would never have lost WW1.

Russia does know that. Russia lost WW1 against Germanys eastern troops, they did surrender to german troops in 1918 Brest-Litovsk.

I am 99% certain, this sort of attack would be impossible. If Russia attacks Poland, the direct answer will be a counter attack what wont stop before Königsberg. Germany would certainly not let Russia go away with what Russia did steal from Germany in 1945 that case and wont exept a base for russian marines there. I think the russians would have an extreme taff problem to deal with the brits at Sea. Germany does have experience with the royal navy. If the brits would attack all baltic bases, that would seriously bother Russia. A land counter attack by very well equipped german troops and german fight spirit supported by french aircraft and american troops - russians also can think. Putin must have lost his mind to go so far. I doubt that.

Poland is part of Nato so also Turkey would be involved. Turkish troops are more than 500 000 and that just in peacetimes. They know how to fight, I am certain. Russia by that also would face a serious Black Sea problem. They would lose Crimea faster than they did steal it away this year to Turkiye.

Ah no...Russia is anything than braindamaged.

If Russia invades Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, or Estonia....we should simply nuke Moscow.

    Its that simple.

What about Georgia, Moldova, and Azerbaijan. They're already being occupied. There invasions went unnoticed by the Russian Media. Well, more like they just illegally placed troops, and never left. Supporting the rebel governments. GUAM was invented for the sole purpose of combating Russia's economy.

I don't know any nation that hates Russia more now, than those ones.

You're funny! Gave me a good laugh, thank you. Now for the serious stuff.

Are we arming the Baltic nations and feeding a bunch of paranoids simply to make them happy, or does this really have something to do with Russia's territorial and water claims in the oil rich North Sea? It seems we're not willing to negotiate with Russia over the claims, which really means we don't want Russia to have what it is legally entitled too, so is this the real reason we are sending all those troops to Poland. Is this also the reason Russia feels it needs to protect its rights and is establishing bases all over the North Pole?

I know Exxon Mobil is continuing business as usual with Russia, and said the heck with you Obama, I'm not an American company anymore. Can this too be because of the oil and mineral wealth in them there icy waters? If so, then the Great Grand Master Chess Player Vladimir Putin (as my favorite writer Pepe Escobar calls him), is one step ahead again of the 'Empire of Chaos'.

Russophobes circle gathered in one subject. You talk about the invasion of Finland and other countries but you underestimate Putin. Next his goal invasion of Mars and then conquer the solar system. Glory for Emperor of solar system Vladimer Putin!

Excellent point! The Finns are just as tough, mean, and determined as the Russians. They are skillful, tireless fighters, and, they hate Russia's guts! Russians know never to get within a sniper's rifle's range of the border with Finland, which is constantly patrolled by Finns, all of whom have long memories.

But don't worry. Russia isn't going to go barging into Finland, Estonia, Latvia, or anywhere else they aren't wanted. Putin didn't attain all that he has by being stupid! In that respect, as in so many others, Putin is the "anti-Obama"....

Considering the fact that the Wehrmacht had its ass handed to it by the Soviet Union, I don't think the idea of a "Reborn Wehrmacht" is going to strike fear into the heart of Putin.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but Russia would probably win that war.

    Russian Army - 285,000 troops
    German Army - 62,000 troops

    Russian Navy - ??? ships, 135,000 personnel
    British Navy - 96 ships, ??? personnel

Russian Air Force - 160,000 personnel
French Air Force - 48,000 personnel

    so be it.

invading the Baltics, Finland, Poland, would be tantamount to starting World War 3.

if that's what Russia wants, let them have it!!

This is from September of last year, so I assume Russia's fleets are larger this year. I know they have been expanding their fleet in the Eastern Mediterranean, and I believe it is under the command of Sevastopol... as is their Black Sea fleet. Uhhh! What was that Obama said about Russia being only a regional power?

Commander Admiral Viktor Chirkov also informed that more than 80 Russian battleships and support vessels are currently offshore in various parts of the global ocean.
