Much of Science these days follows the party line.
Schools fail to educate. Young folk graduate from high school and cannot read.
A "risk"? It's more like intellectual tyranny.

That's because they change their argument when they can no longer accept their own ridiculous notions. The world was created in literally 144 hours until it didn't make sense to them, so then the argument was changed to "well, we don't know god's time. A day could mean 6,000 years to him".

What party line is that? Did Copernicus, Galileo, Newton, Bohr, Darwin, and Einstein become famous for following the party line?

There are one hundred and fourteen colleges and universities in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that are listed under the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education.[1] These institutions include four research universities, twenty-one master's universities, and thirty-four special-focus institutions. Eighty-four of Massachusetts' post-secondary institutions are private, of which five are for-profit. Thirty of the state's post-secondary institutions listed under the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education are public. However, this figure does not include the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, which was originally a public school and founded by the state legislature as a land-grant institution, in line with the Morrill Land-Grant Colleges Act.[2][3]

Massachusetts' oldest post-secondary institution is Harvard University, founded in 1636.[4] Tracing its routes back to 1839, Boston University is the state's largest institution of higher learning in terms of enrollment, as it had 32,603 students as of the fall of 2013

AboveAlpha...p.s....AND I DIDN'T EVEN LIST THEM ALL AS I DIDN'T LIST COMMUNITY COLLEGES OR COLLEGES THAT ONLY GIVE OUT ASSOCIATES DEGREES!!

Anyway as you see I have listed just SOME of the BEST ON THE PLANET COLLEGES that exist in my state of Massachusetts and the United States is home to YALE, BERKLEY WEST COAST, BROWN....ETC...ETC...ETC...AS THERE ARE THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS OF COLLEGES, INSTITUTES AND UNIVERSITIES IN THE UNITED STATES AND THE U.S. is considered to be without any doubt THE PLACE to send your kids if you live in another Nation and are PARENTS WITH MONEY!!!

Sure....the U.K. has OXFORD and a few other good schools....but the Schools here in the U.S. are CAREER SPECIFIC and NO ONE is doing work like is being done at MIT, HARVARD....ETC.

So....why is our Public Schools so screwed up??

    Answer....Curriculum!!!!!!

We need to change the Curriculum in our High Schools especially as although a WELL ROUNDED EDUCATION IS NICE.....it is not as important as preparing our kids for the SCIENCE, MATH, BIOLOGY, CHEMISTRY, ENGINERING, PHYSICS, COMPUTER SCIENCES, GENETICS, AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES, METALURGY...ETC...ETC...ETC....OF THE 21ST CENTURY!!

Kids today are HARDWIRED to operate Computers upon every level and type.

ROBOTICS is no longer just something you read about in a SCI-FI NOVEL....it is HERE....NOW.....ACROSS ALL FIELDS OF WORK AND CAREERS!!

For some High School Kid to be WASTING TIME learning what some 17th Century French Novelist meant when he wrote....Meirde!!!

Or for kids to be sifting through archaic OLD ENGLISH as where for that we go beknowest into the deep and dark low behold that I wondered he shall feel the tauntness in his own eye yet seen becalled and rightious!!!

    CRAP....EL CRAPO....EL CRAPIST!!!

American Lit, English Lit, French Poetry......should all be 3rd tier ELECTIVE COURSES!!!

Now as far as for me....even though I am considered a SMART COOKIE....the highly logical Left Brain Hemisphere I have REFUSES to allow me to accept the ILLOGIC of I before E except after C......SOMETIMES!!

Thing is SPELLING DOESN'T EVEN MATTER because as long as a person knows the first letter and last letter of a word the rest of the letters can be scrabled and a person will STILL KNOW IMMEDIATELY AND VISUALLY WHAT THE WORD IS!!!!

    EXAMPLES.......

    Fiurt
    Atmbouiole
    Fcnerh
    Dtuy
    Slcae
    Cwroad
    Shgin
    TATOL
    OGARNE
    APLPE
    CENACL

    So how did anyone do?

And, I submit that it comes in part from considered disdain for education.

Were we to care about education, our schools would not look like they do. Teaching would be a respected profession that would be paid such that people would be trying to excel, so they might get in. Kids who have the interest and capability could come out of college debt free regardless of who their parents are - as in Germany, for example.

Today, we see people on this board making statements about science when they don't even know squat about science.

Yes, people take in information without accepting it for very good reasons - they do not have the tools for making that decision.

What were seeing is tyranny, for sure - the tyranny of ignorance.

Science does NOT follow party lines. That is a declaration that there is a world wide conspiracy of both science and politics. And, there is absolutely NO way to support that idea.

    All Science is a METHOD.

It is the best possible method for making determinations about REALITY.

When a THEORY finally can achieve through the scientific method an equivalence relation mathematically....this achieves a PROOF.

Evolution has achieved this equivalence relation mathematically upon a Genetic Molecular/Atomic Level.

Thus Evolution has been established as a FACT.

I don't know why you are telling me this. For the most part I totally agree.

My points had more to do with our national distaste for education and (if this discussion went farther) the resultant demonstrable inability of our population to incorporate science in our public policy.

As long as I'm here, though, I'd just like to point out that your sentence about proof is something I do NOT agree with.

Even elite theories are available for modification or disproof as our technology stretches what we can investigate.

In fact, I don't see anything to gain by suggesting that portions of scientific theory are somehow immutable. The strength of evolution increases not by declaring it (or some portion of it) to be perfect, but by encouraging it to be investigated - a continuing demonstration that has never failed, while opening up whole new areas of research.

Surely the realm of immutable truth belong to God and mathematicians.

I am not talking about a TRUTH.

    I am talking about when a Scientific Theory achieves equivalence relation mathematically....it obtains a PROOF and once a proof can be established and calculated such as...7 + 3 = 10...Proof....10 - 3 = 7....it becomes a FACT.

This only occurs when a theory achieves equivalence relation mathematically.

There has NEVER IN THE HISTORY OF MANKIND when the Math stated something to be so...that it wasn't.

We are not better prepared for public policy or for technology through ignoring who we are as humans.

The pay differential between those who know humans and those who know robots is not an indication of relative importance of humans and robots.

So, I agree we need all our brains stretched by far more rigorous education, but the idea of channeling that to specific disciplines while ignoring the rest is a very serious mistake.

I am not saying that either.

I am just stating that current U.S. Public School Curriculum is not in line with the realities of the 21st Century.

Subjects that should be required over 4 years of High School and these are not in any particular order are thus....

Algebra II and Trig....as even if you intend to go to a trade school such mathematical tools are necessary to deal with Construction, Engineering of what you might repair and basic tools for problem solving.

    Biology, Chemistry and Anatomy.

English for at least 2 years and 1 year of Lit.

    History, Geography and Geology.

    Computer Sciences....4 years.

Those who intend to become Engineers or Scientists.....Physics and Calculus.

Physical Education.....ALL 4 YEARS! As mind without a healthy body does not perform well.

Analysis and Statistical Probability...not just Statistics.

At least 2 years of a foreign language.

Astronomy and Cosmology at least at basic levels.

    Basic Electronics.

    Business 100.

    Finance 100.

Now after this other classes should be made available as elective for personal preference but I had to waste classes....and I had enough credits to graduate in my Jr. Year except in one's Sr. Year it was a required course to take ENGLISH LIT. AND GOVERNMENT.

Government should be taught at the beginning of the 3rd grade level and continue into Jr. High.

I went to a new Elementary School that was part of a Presidential Directive to stress SCIENCE AND MATHEMATICS thus I was learning Algebra I in 5th Grade and basic Geometry in 3rd and 4th grade.

I also had classed in very basic Chemistry and Biology in 4th and 5th grade as well as Basic Nuclear Atomic and Molecular Structure classes in 4th and 5th grade.

6th grade all 3 Elementary schools were sent to one building for one year and it was a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT as it was a wasted year as the other 2 Elementary Schools were not part of this Presidential Experimental Directive.

7th and 8th Grade at least gave me shop, electronics and mechanics.....but still they were teaching those of us who went to my Elementary School Algebra again and Basic Biology and Geology as well as basic History.

High School wasted 4 years of at least 2 to 3 classes per year on subjects that are worthless unless a person wanted to become a Teacher as 4 years of English....3 years of Lit...American, English and a Mixture of other Nations.

Expository Writing which should have been elective.....and a rehash of other things already learned.

Things I did learn and were useful.....Trig, Analysis, Calculus....and 2 years of Computer Programming and Science as we just got Computers in my Jr, Year thus I learned Basic, Fortran and Cobol Computer Languages.

I elected to take Art and havng talent skipped 2 years and took Art III and Art Major in my Sr Year.

Enjoyed another elective....Ancient Greek and Roman Mythology as well 4 years of History were mandatory.

But some of the classes other kids took were a JOKE as even though I scored 1580 on my SAT's and scored in the top .0001% in my Placement Tests as well back then I.Q. Tests were MANDATORY and I will not discuss my score but it was high enough so that right after my Test Results came back I had every recruiter from every U.S. Military Service Branch as well as Agencies bringing me into the Guidance Offices where I met my Guidance Counselor FOR THE FIRST TIME as the guy never talked to me once until after my scores came back.

I also enjoyed SPORTS and I was a 3 Letter man although I could never be classified as a JOCK as my Mental and Physical skills were GENETIC as both my parents and their parents had such skills.

My Dad was Military and my Mom was the..."CIVILIAN" Handler in the Generals Office of one of the largest SAC Bases in the Nation.

B-52's sat on runways fully loaded for RUSSIAN BEAR and wings of B-52's would fly out every day and night from my area in Western Massachusetts up to the Northern Polar Cap and then TURN BACK AROUND and fly back to base.

Also education is useless unless a kid has GOOD PARENTS and mine might have been very tough on me but they KNEW I could take it.

Yet they have hired them. It doesn't take belief in evolution or in an old earth to find oil. It just requires knowledge of the rock formations, etc. I've read that some oil companies prefer YECs because they don't worry as much about theory, but just with the rocks and they find more oil.

Well then why even use geologists at all and just use diviners. That way, you don't have to worry about any of those pesky scientific theories.

The "party line" you are talking about would, in this case, involve a global conspiracy among biologists, geneticists, physicists, geologists, dendrochronologists, astronomers, etc. Every country, across multiple scientific disciplines would be part of one massive conspiratorial organization that has managed to go undetected. The theories of the 9/11 truthers look like amateur hour by comparison.

One more thing needs to be added to grades k-12 and that is general transaction relationships and anger control. People react negatively to too many words and gestures. Only about 2 years ago I learned that the word "whatever" was some kind of an affront. People are crazy.

    You should read more widely.
Corruption in science is rampant and the public has been mind-controlled to believe everything they say.

    Corruption in Science News Articles

When you have finished that take a look at this. This man is about the best current example of thinking outside the box that I have seen so far.

The ones who don't follow the party line don't get much press and depending on what subject they are working on may lose their funding, so it pays them to go along to get along. Money is always the major consideration across every facet of human endeavor.

Which would mean that the global multi-discipline conspiracy that you are proposing would have to be extremely powerful. And, actually, the ones who challenge the status quo get a lot of press, not to mention book deals. And there are many ways to get funding . . . unless all funding institutions are part of the conspiracy as well.

Fact - only in the minds of those who promote it.

There is no proof of evolution. There is only remnants of various life forms. No proof that one changed into another in escalating complexity.

Where exactly are the intermediate forms?
If there are billion year old "pre-human" skeletons, there should be thousands of in-betweeners. Where are they?

Even since the ancient Babylonians and Assyrians 4000 years BC, religion has been very slow to catch up with politics and science.

As to funding - depends on what is being researched. Those funding institutions may have their profits at stake - such as big pharma.

If they don't lose their funding, they lose their lives.
