"This with Kim Jong Un would be something where he would be there. He would be running his country. His country would be very rich," Trump begged last week.

His begging continued. "We will guarantee his safety," he said of Kim. "He will be safe, he will be happy, his country will be rich, his country will be hardworking and very prosperous."

Kim Young Chol is no boy scout. To test Trump's eerie and highly questionable decision to meet one-on-one with the North Korean dictator, Kim sent his hit man.

In 2009, Chol was appointed director of the Reconnaissance General Bureau. The Reconnaissance Bureau is responsible for collecting strategic, operational, and tactical intelligence for the Ministry of the People's Armed Forces. It is also responsible for infiltrating intelligence personnel into South Korea.

The RGB has reportedly been involved with kidnapping and extrajudicial assassinations that span decades. The RGB's predecessor was responsible for abducting South Korean and Japanese citizens. The RGB has been associated with multiple assassination attempts, including the 1968 attempt on ROK President Park Chung-hee, the 1983 attempted assassination of ROK President Chun Doo-hwan that left 21 dead, and the 2010 attempt on high-ranking DPRK defector Hwang Jang-yeop.

After entertaining Kim's top assassin for ninety minutes in a huge dog and pony show, something the President does best, Trump today back-peddled all the way on the June 12 summit with the North Korean dictator. Gone is any discussion about complete, verifiable denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. North Korea's human rights violations also will not be discussed, according to Trump.

Trump himself put it this way. “It’s a getting-to-know-you meeting, plus,” Trump told reporters of the June 12 encounter in Singapore.

“I think it’ll be a process. … But the relationships are building, and that’s a positive thing.”

“He’d like to see something happen,” the U.S. president said of Kim. “He’s going to be careful. He’s not going to run and do something.”

"We’re not going to go in and sign something on June 12. We never were.” Really? After a three-month run on television we are learning this now? This has all been a big show. Trump does not expect any progress toward denuclearization and world peace. After all this time and a roller coaster ride, this is just a meet and greet session, a photo op?

Trump claimed he believes Kim is willing to give up his atomic weapons — but over time, saying: “I think they want to do that. I know they want to do that. But they want other things along the line. They want to develop as a country.”

Yeah, sure Mr. President. Just more B.S. from the master B.S.-er. He is all talk and no walk. He just admitted it.

Trump is handing Kim and his hostile regime a tremendous propaganda and diplomatic victory at no cost to Kim. Trump has made all the concessions, including the disgraceful dog and pony show today, his promise to protect the dictator, and he has promised Kim riches and prosperity.

    Kim gave Trump a letter.

    Trump wants it too much.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) warned President Trump today not to get "snookered" by North Korea, as the President announced that a meeting this month with Kim Jong Un in Singapore was back on.

"I think for these situations to work you have to not want the deal too much. If you fall in love with the deal and it's too important for you to get it ... you could get snookered. And I think the president's fully aware of that," McConnell said at a Congressional Summit in Kentucky.

He added that his "advice to the president is, if you're a great dealmaker, be interested in the details."

"I just don't think we ought to get our hopes up here that the North Koreans are going to easily give up the thing that guarantees this regime stays in power," McConnell said.

On the other hand, as we learned today, Trump isn't going to try to get an agreement on the nukes, or human right abuses, for that matter. "We’re not going to go in and sign something on June 12." It's going to be a "getting-to-know-you meeting," a photo op, in other words.

This is a big, fat nothing.

And that is straight from the horse's mouth.

I believe one thing, if the meeting happens which I believe it will, it will be a "getting to know you" meeting without the "plus" part. All the bluster of the past couple of months has come to naught. No surprises there. Trump leaned way ahead of his skis again. Ego can make one do that. But fear not, he knows more about North Korea than anybody - believe me.

Why sure, "Kim is willing to give up his atonic weapons" - right after he resurrects his murdered brother. My fearless forecast is that the accomplishments of this meeting will include whether to serve sushi for lunch and where and when is the next meeting. That little item will take a while to resolve (sushi vs sashimi). Another take away will be Trump''s declaration of his new best friend Kimmy.

Bolton will be excluded of course. That's fortunate because, if he had attended, that would have made Kim Jong Un the second most hated man in Singapore. Kim will be basking in sunlight for years after this generous gift from Trump. Wow! I get to sit across the table from a real live United States president! Dad would have been so proud!

The good thing is that he is learning how foreign policy actually works.

The bad thing is that Sum Fat Kim is teaching him and the whole world sees that

Liberal butthurt over Trump's incredible successes, the childish spin and frankly idiotic damage control attempts are great entertainment, beats SNL and Co hands down. Keep these threads coming :D

And they will keep comment. Some of the usual suspects are up to five or six per day. Just imagine what Trumps second term will do to them.

Just another Trumpian who can't handle the issues and is forced to use infantile characterizations that have absolutely nothing to do with what happened. He can't deal with what actually happened.

The post is quite characteristic of Trumpian posts. Reality is not their friend.

Trump has done more with NK than Obama ever even dreamed of and the liberals hate it.

Its sad to watch them hoping for failure.

So, what has he done? You never say.

His critics don't have to hope for failure. Trump is doing exactly what the enemy wants him to do. That is a certified diplomatic failure for our country, and a diplomatic victory for the North Korean dictator.

Why don't you stop coming up with your fantasies and look around you. Try to see what really is happening. To begin, try answering the question.

To Trump fans, just saying something makes it true. That is infantile.

Face reality people -- Trump didn't get where he's at by being ignorant of bargaining and posturing and coming out ahead. Little Rocket Man has met his match. The U.S. is lucky to have Trump looking out for our country.

What Trump has done in his MAGA campaign is to alienate our allies and cause more of them to side with North Korea. He is backpedaling to a stance reminiscent of former Presidents, but is likely to lose ground.

Ending up with a big nothing. . . . If you ignore the concessions he will inevitably make. . . . He will nevertheless claim victory for successful negotiations, and his base will emphatically cheer him on.

Here is a pretty good summary of the result of his efforts, in case you haven't already read it:

hahahhaha .....its killing you guys that Trump is succeeding where no President has before. The mere fact that lefties want him to fail at negotiating peace over thermonuclear war should be a red flag to see a doctor immediately. Its derangement and we may want to consider reporting it to authorities before their medical condition gets worse. (see something say something according to obama right?)

I'm only gutted that when I bet in 2015 that Trump would win in 2016 and 2020 that I didn't add the peace prize. I should have made it an accumulator ;(

Why do democrats want peace to fail? Or is it they want Trump to fail and f*** peace.

Trump is no match for ANYONE, least of all Chol. Trump thinks he's smarter than anyone, but was Chol checked for hidden electronic equipment? Did he get a look at Trump's phone? Chol is the top intelligence expert in the world. He organized and developed a HACKING TEAM that proved in international competition to be the best in the world, taking 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in the competition. He is the one who groomed Kim Jong Un and made him the effective dictator that he is today. And you aren't at all concerned. Like Trump, you think it's in the bag. What could go wrong?

Yes, perhaps he has the knowledge because of the PDB's. Simply having the knowledge doesn't mean he is using it or the advice of his advisors. We never hear from them. Trump wouldn't even share the spotlight with Pompeo yesterday. He was merely a Trump shadow. So, is he using the knowledge or is his ego and narcissism getting in the way? Yesterday suggests the latter.

Yes, it is going to be a photo op. Trump admitted it yesterday for all intents and purposes. He is backing down. Forget denuclearization. Trump even said they aren't signing anything. Trump is lowering the prestige of his office. "Getting to know you meetings" are mid-level diplomats. Heads of state meet when there is something to meet about.

If I were a Trump supporter, I would feel betrayed. Three months worth of televised melodrama for a photo op? Sheesh!

The Kim regime has strived for a sit-down with the leader of the free world for 65 years. It will, indeed, be a great diplomatic victory for "Little Kim."

    Thank you, Mr President.

Trump has busted up a number of deals, TPP, Paris Accord, Iran nuclear deal, trade with Canada, Mexico, and the EU.

He has made one deal in sixteen months. That is with a pliant South Korea, dependent upon the U.S. for its very survival and with ulterior motives. It was much like a parent making a deal with their child.

That's it. Now you were saying something about his bargaining. When are you going wise up and quit listening to Trump's rhetoric. He's all talk and no walk.
