    ???

Every threat doesn't involve a bomb.

Exactly. The morons on the left are just against pulling out of Syria merely because Trump did it. They automatically reject what he does.

The fact is that Obama got us in a needless war. Assad will probably use chemical weapons on ISIS once we are all out of there so it's a win win for us.

Did you see where I mentioned trading partners and allies? Do you want to risk them becoming former trading partners and former allies? Besides, shale oil may not be the least expensive oil source in the future.
Is there some relevance here? You might note that terror weapons, indeed terror WMD, may be based on nanotechnology or biotechnology.
How about being real smart and remembering they may be crazy but not stupid.

So what? What Taliban had to do with 911 attack??? Bin Laden was found and killed in Pakistan, as far as I remember, not in Afghanistan.

So we will sell them our oil.

Yes, there is relevance. Having US troops stationed in some God-foraken desert will not do a damn thing about terrorism.

The Taliban gave al Qaeda safe haven and wouldn't give up bin Laden after 9-11.

Not if it's the high price product.
Who says we have to station our guys in the desert?

Then let them but the cheaper product. But why station US troops to protect the oil of a competitor?

Good. Let's station them in New Jersey, although they might prefer the God-forsaken desert.

You're on the wrong track, PMC's operate legitimate businesses, they openly advertise. They are different from traditional mercenaries therefore unlikely international laws against mercenaries apply to them. In fact I think only South Africa and the US have legislation that regulate PMC's

B that doesn't make sense, the chiefs of staff acting without the POS would be something akin to a coup, the POS may or may not ask for their advice but the order has to come from the top down. In this case I believe his advice came from elsewhere.

International laws absolutely apply to contractors of any kind from the United States. Security, INFOSEC, and engagement all apply under international law and some federal laws as well (for those that could face charges once they return to the US).

Glad I was able to clear up your confusion.

The Chief of staff doesn't give that such order. The President does. I'm happy to explain how this works.

This is why it's so hilarious to see the "outrage" the liberals have over this. They always keep saying "The US is not the world police! This is why we need a civilian Commander in Chief!".

I expressed it badly - the chiefs should be the ones responsible for the decision making although it is the president with the final say. A president has a broad range of powers BUT That also means they have a broad range of responsibilities - you CANNOT micromanage. A good manager leaves the minutiae to the underlings and that includes looking at the entire situation

I understand what you are saying... he should take the advice of his appointed experts... it's what they are there for, however if he doesn't that is his prerogative. As stated I also believe his advice came from the intelligence side.

I don't deny that. I do deny countries rent mercs in order to farm other peoples resources. We banned the sale for blood diamonds for THAT reason.

No, the population is not even half that, but even if it was it is 100% irrelevant. 30 000 terrorists is a lot.

It sounds like you'd prefer to just ignore them, and mop up the mess after the next 9/11.

It's because they are NOT mercenaries, the PMC's operate legitimate businesses, they work for legitimate business and mining companies who own mining rights...you need to adjust your thinking, forget about blood diamonds you watch too many movies.

No wonder you post so much tripe. YOU are woefully uninformed or just plain ignorant.
    Iraq population 39,339,753 (2018)
    Syria population 18,284,407 (2018)

30K ISIS fighters equals about 1/20th of 1% of the population.

The FBI estimates there are 1.4 million gang members in the United States. They estimate on average they are responsible for 15,500 homicides annually. Which country is more dangerous?
