Official: Dems ‘Refused’ To Even Listen To Border Security Briefing At White House

Democratic lawmakers brought a border security briefing at the White House to a screeching halt Wednesday, refusing to even listen to Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, a White House official tells The Daily Caller.

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy echoed this version of events to reporters outside the White House immediately after the briefing, saying “once the secretary started, Schumer interrupted her and didn’t want to hear it.”

Republican and Democratic lawmakers after the meeting indicated little progress was made toward ending the partial government shutdown and that they agreed to reconvene Friday. The White House official says there was a consensus in the room that negotiations would be put on hold until Pelosi officially assumed her expected role of Speaker

Dems didn't know, or care about anything in this discussion. It was not a meeting held in good faith. They even cut off the DHS secretary.

We all knew this is what the Democrats would pull. Recall too they did it to Bush.

 

The timing was transparent. Trump hoped to cut a deal before the new House was installed. The strategy is the Democrats will accept and vote for the Senate proposal then send it on to the White House for final signature. IF Trump balks, it will leave Republicans in the uncomfortable position of rejecting a yes. It will nail Trump's foot to the floor as being responsible for the shutdown. Yes, things have changed.

Have you ever talked to a border patrol agent? I have. I’ve been to the wall in Santa Teresa, nM many times, I have talked with the agents and they say the wall is a godsend, has reduced illegal crossings which in turn saved both them and the ilkegals from getting injured or killed.

These agents are in the business of knowing what does and doesn’t work, right?
