I also put my faith in science and it is showing that a low carb diet is healthier then a high carb diet

and that meat and good fats are part of a healthy diet

high carbs increases the risk of obesity, diabetes and cancer

sugar feeds cancer..... high carbs causes addiction to food

Talk to Trump about the $12 billion to compensate farmers for his insane trade war with China then.

That has nothing to do with this particular subject.

As someone who believes man is warming the planet and on the verge of making it uninhabitable how do you justify eating beef when you know it greatly increases your carbon footprint?
Not harassing you but you seem like a pretty straight shooter and I'm honestly interested in how this works.

My wife's cousin recently posted on FB that she thinks we are doomed and globall warming will kill us all. We are concerned about her because she has small children and a history of severe depression. Our concern is she may kill her self and them. Have you had any depression issues?

    Agreed
Agreed so long as you are not eating too much red and processed meat.
    Agreed
Agreed, sugar feeds all cells but it does not directly cause cancer other than through weight gain.

the problem with sugar is that one it feeds cancer, but also it causes frequent eating, no it doesn't cause cancer, just helps it to grow and multiply, we all may have cancer from time to time, but the constant eating put the body in a mode that makes it harder to fight it off early as it increases insulin and reduces autophagy

the other issue is with the fructose in sugar, sugar is half fructose, which causes fatty liver - this can happen in even skinny people, thus the skinny fat terminology, too much sugar is as dangerous as too much alchol - maybe worse as people stop drinking earlier cause of the effect on the brain, not so with things like pop and sugar is in almost everything today, it's crazy

I agree on the processed meat, stick to the fresh natural meat, in fact reduce most heavily processed food of any type

Why are you quoting me when I just said sugar feeds all cells?

science is proving this is not true, so now most anti-meaters are moving to the "it's bad for the environment" approach

the saturated fat is bad is also not true science is finding, in fact it's healthy for the body

You were the one who brought up budget problems in relation to food subsidies.

    They are not mutually exclusive.
Too much red and processed meat is bad for you and too much meat production is bad for the environment.

too much processed food is bad for your, agree there

too much protein, even pea protein is bad for you, but red meat is not bad for you in and of itself, in fact it's healthy

now if all you ate is lean meat, sure, you would get the same thing as eating too much rabbit as you need an adequate amount of fat to go with it, you can't live on protein alone - you need good fats - you can live without carbs just fine though as they are not an essential nutrient

too many heavily processed beyond beef burgers would be bad for you

I am saying red meat is part of a good healthy diet

do you think fruit is healthy, would you disagree with scientists that say fructose can cause a fatty liver?

"Scientists Say Sugar In Western Diets Cause Cancer"

    https://newspunch.com/scientists-say-sugar-in-western-diets-cause-cancer/

"“We found that sucrose intake in mice comparable to levels of Western diets led to increased tumor growth and metastasis, when compared to a non-sugar starch diet,” said Peiying Yang, Ph.D."

Sugar is the evil in our diet that needs to be reduced - regardless if you eat meat or not - reduced in quantity and frequency

I'll have to look into it. I've been ignoring red meats for years and lately when I look I can't believe the price!

More than 70 gms a day of red meat is not recommended.
A healthy diet may contain red meat so long as it does not exceed this amount (according to NHS advice).

Fruit is definitely good for you. High in fibre and vitamin C which are both needed for good health.
Where fruit becomes a problem is drinking too much fruit juices which contain sugar levels similar to energy drinks and colas.
I don't think any food is healthy if taken in excess.
A varied diet is the best diet.

we agree about all foods can be bad if taken to excess, heck even water to excess is bad for you or too much oxygen

I believe we should eat less sugary fruit, some people eat it like candy

I also agree about fruit juice, bad as soda, better to eat the whole fruit as you will consume less of the sugars, you could not consume as many if not just drinking just the sugary juice

"A varied diet is the best diet."

agree there as well, I am not a supporter of the carnivore or the frutarian diets as an example

I support a low carb, moderate protein and the rest in good fats diet including both meats and vegetables and some occasional fruits

the more carbs you eat the more vit c you need, carnivores do not get Scurvy as an example of this

So we are just haggling over the amount of red meat that is healthy to eat.
    70gms is less than 3oz or 3/4s of a 1/4lb burger.
Animal fats are healthier than vegetable oils but that does not mean you can eat as much as you want. It will still lead to increased weight just as excess carbs do.

Good information. Grazing animals have been used to rehabilitate land destroyed by mining and fires when nothing else worked. There is a reason large ruminants were so numerous in North America (and other places) in the past before intensive agriculture.

depends on your size, I eat about 6-8oz, but I am 6'2 - but I would mix it up with plenty of fish in the diet, sardines, salmon, things high in omega 3

I agree on the fats as well, same with nuts and cheese, you eat too many fats, your gonna be like a squirrel getting ready for winter - we definitely need lots of good fats, just not too much

that is one of the issues with telling people something is healthy, some think that means free for all, and I agree with you, that is not the case, gluttony has consequences
