    You might be right.

However, I predict a robust turnout for down ballot races.

The presidency is lost. That much is obvious.

However, the left has a real chance of flipping the Senate, which would stall Trump's fascism a bit.

My original California BC was printed on metal paper and faded away years ago. I did, indeed, have to pay for a new copy.

No, but a piece of mail and a SS card should suffice.

So let’s say I go to the cemetery and copy down the names of all the people who died that year and finding their address through publicly available information such as obituaries. What stops me from mailing in votes on their behalf for the candidate of my choice?

No, it's nothing to do with intelligence, it just has to do with access to government ids.

So let’s assume we pass a law saying identification for voting is free. Would that be okay?

No because the location of where to get the ID is also politicized.

We are past theory, Democrats want to change the method of voting without first verifying who would be eligible to vote. In my state that means 200k ballots mailed to addresses. If someone moved and didn't update they wouldn't get a ballot. If they updated there would be an extra ballot out there. In a swing state that number exceeds the difference between candidates in the last election. If there was a problem it might not be caught, if it exceeded the recount threshold. See the problem now?

The overwhelming vast majority get their ID's at their local DMV's.

Are you saying the DMV's are politicized?

We are never beyond theory, for it is theory that guides us. You make it seem like voting by mail is incredibly corrupt. But if it was so corrupt, why do we do it at all? More importantly if we saw it as so corrupt, then we should have seen the results of it by now. Why haven't we?

The location of government institutions? Oh yes. Think less extreme version of army bases.

Without proper guidelines and standards and in a situation in which creating and verifying them does not exist it is corrupt. Changing to a system based on good faith without any way of policing it destroys the notion of good faith. In a state that caught Democrats bribing homeless people with cigarettes not long ago we have reason to wonder about corruption...

That doesn't answer the question, why does the system exist if we can't police it? I'm not denying there are going to be issues, but to the point of "corruption" is a stretch. You have to work for that claim. Namely 1.) show there are issues, and 2.) these issues would result in corruption.

Apparently some states can police it, but those states didn't change their method in the middle of a crisis. That you don't see a problem is rather troubling...

Not really, you start life with a social security number and birth certificate. From there you obtain proof of identity in other ways. Driver's license, military ID, and so. The citizen's only responsiblity is maintaining it...

Sound like everything you mention equates to "responsibility". Don't you think those that choose our elected officials should have a degree of responsibility? If not.... maybe we should lower the age to say.....10. You could buy their votes with toys and video games and Republicans would never win another election!

The whole idea of postal voting is fine, not everyone can get to the ballot box, military folks and everyone overseas need them but both will obviously have passports and military IDs anyway. Within the US it's a different matter, Trump won the swing states by such slim margins that it could make all the difference and do we really want another Florida debacle? No democracy should ever be afraid to ensure only those entitled to vote get to vote.
