Most long haul truckers hardly need a mask. Their deliveries are to warehouses, and not much indoor activity for dropping off palettes.

You know what? You cannot expect to behave during a pandemic the same way you do at any other time.
Imagine if people behaved the same during a war on their soil as they had done. You in the USA never were occupied, had your homes and neighbourhoods bombed and your food rationed so 5hat you were told how much of everything you could have and no more.
Life in the USA stayed pretty much the same as it always does when your country goes forth and causes havoc elsewhere.
For the first time in many living memories you were asked to give up a tiny part of your freedom not to wear something which may make the lives of other people easier
Instead you are outraged enough to turn the little request into a vitriolic condemnation of your government which is trying to minimise sickness and death.
It isn't about "rights and freedoms". They are still there.
It is about your willingness to donate some of them for the greater good. Wearing a mask doesn't hurt. Doesn't even cause discomfort. Certainly nothing like being on a life support machine.
No one is taking any of your freedoms away. No one can.
They are asking for your help.

You can't compromise on rights and freedom. Guard them like the treasures they are, or you will look up one day and you won't have them.

Wearing a mask does not in any way make a coup d'etat closer or more possible. Get a grip. The idea is laughable.

Wearing a mask is a concession and establishes precedence for pretty much nothing. The guarantee is constantly under attack which is why compromise is a bad idea. The people who wrote those papers understood that and it's why they wrote them.

 

And, protecting individual freedom is why America is the longest lasting democratic republic in history. Now is not the time for us to give up our freedoms.

No - you can leave, you just can't come back in. And where would they go to? The US has the same mandate...so they couldn't go there. Of course 90% of truckers are vaccinated in Canada - so that doesn't apply to them...

 

I don’t disagree that we’re losing other rights as well. Among certain powerful elements in our society there is vicious hatred for average Americans making their own decisions.

Like I said; wearing a mask isn't tyranny. It's a public health issue. This is what the founders meant when they said promotion of the general welfare. It's a legit use of government.

 

The General welfare clause does not grant any power to the government. It simply identifies a goal to be pursued WITHIN the enumerated powers, nothing more. The government MUST recognize the limits given the federal government.b

The govt is asking you to help protect the weaker citizens...the elderly
The asthmatics. Those with auto immune issues. Lung problems. Etc etc.
To suggest this request is a step on the road to tyranny is a huge fearful exaggeration and I suspect you have politicised it and reassigned it into another trebuchet.

 

Truckers have the people supporting them, their cause is just. That isn’t the case with leftist crybabies.

 

90% vaccinated because they were forced to be , not because they wanted to be . It’s a bit different when you submit someone because their lives depend on it . Many of those truckers that are protesting are vaccinated.
