I am sure we're all heard these phrases before, and I am sure the vast majority of those who support the right to an abortion agree with them. That being said, what -are- the limits on the right to an abortion? Why do you think so?
As to when it's too late for abortion I would start with after the baby is born and work back from there.
I'm okay with bans on late-term abortion with exceptions for medical necessities and/or the discovery of debilitating birth defects. I'm even okay with a ban, with the previously noted exceptions, after the 20-24 week period.
I see the late abortion bans as unnecessary. How many perfectly sane, mentally sound, women go through 8-9 months of pregnancy and then decide to have an abortion.....I bet it's zero (unless there is a health problem). IF a woman wants an abortion at 8-9 months she's treated for her mental health problems, not given an abortion.
Unnecessary, probably. Which is why it is a great compromise. As long as the reason folks normally have late-term abortions are protected, the anti-abortionists can count it as a win while the effect on women who actually need them is minimized.
There are no limits to rights. A woman has an absolute right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness because she - unlike the fetus - is an actual individual. If a pregnancy interferes with her values it is in her freedom to terminate it so that she can live and enjoy life as she prefers.
The only thing that would justify such ban is if such abortions are proven to be too dangerous and a threat to a woman's life.
And yet, the state can, constitutionally, ban a woman from having an abortion. That being the case, how can the right to an abortion be unlimited/absolute
Rights are a concept invented entirely by humans. They do not exist in nature. Sorry, John Locke. IMO, abortions should be left entirely up to the patient and doctor. I am not interested in putting in some type of artificial cutoff date.
I think within the limits set by the court in Roe, the states have the authority to regulate abortion access.

They aren't....a woman can absolutely have an abortion after 8-9 months if her life is in danger. IF a woman demands an abortion at 8-9 months she is given a psyche evaluation and her mental health is taken care of....mentally healthy women don't do that. Read post #6 Women should have the right to abortion at any time.
Except for the FACT that this is the UNITED Staes of America and EVERY American should have the same rights...NO "group" should be denied the rights everyone else has.
The states do not have the authority to restrict access beyond what the courts decided in roe. At least not yet.
Very nice. Except this is the real world. In addition the world doesn't stop at your national borders.

What do you mean by "this is the real world".... do you disagree that all Americans have the same rights? Women should have less? Blacks have less? What did you mean ?? And I know the world doesn't stop at our national borders...so why did you post that?? ....I was talking about how all Americanss in America have the same rights...
So? You can't answer a different question? So what question were you answering with your : ""Pixie said: ↑ The amount of guilt and regret of the mother. Because no one can ask the unborn child."""
"NO "group" should be denied the rights everyone else has." We are back to whether unborn children have the same rights as its mother. If you think the human fetus is alive, then yes. If you don't think the human fetus is alive, then no. They don't have rights. The answer to that is individual and personal. I don't think any state or faith should legislate on any basis other than the nature of the unborn child.
