Russia might be building a case against Finland. They sent this to every Russian in Finland, apparently in order to gather evidence that Russians are supposedly being mistreated there, and some wonder if such impression could be used as partial justification to take some sort of action against Finland. In the other hand, the war in Ukraine is going so poorly for them that I doubt they will be attacking anyone anytime soon
Exactly, and it's worth mention the Finns are well armed and really tough. Ukraine has destroyed a lot of equipment, and hurt morale. I bet Nordic countries would be welcomed into NATO shortly after Putin heads in their direction. Very shortly.. But it's not going to happen, Russia's military is 4th rate. The Finns have F18s, and will be buying F35s. No air superiority for Putin, I'm afraid.
After the licking they are taking in Ukraine, win or lose, I dont see them invading any body else for many years. Especially anyone in NATO.
Finland and Sweden are moving forward with NATO. Last month they already entered into a Major Non-NATO military agreement, which is what US has with Israel, Japan and Australia, and full NATO membership is being discussed.
If Finland is 'next' it will take about 10 years. Russia is destroying its army & air force right now, and it isn't going to have piles of cash or access to the best technology at market prices to rebuild it. Even if Finland isn't in NATO or some other alliance structure by then, it will be a tough nut to crack. A much larger Russian army struggles to do that 80+ years ago because the Finns did what the Ukrainains are doing now. I don't see this Russian army doing anything but worse. Finland will also have the sort of international support Ukraine has. This is a hollow threat from a waning power.
After Ukraine I predict that Russia will spend not a little time to rebuild some sectors of its Army which are suffering not irrelevant losses in these days. This won’t be easy: the sanctions won’t be lifted immediately after the end of the conflict [overall if Russia will be able in some way to take over Ukraine]. So no, for some years at Moscow they will be too busy recovering. I do doubt they are planning an other adventure like this.
No, it will be more lake Republic of Georgia next, Lativa, Estonia, and Lithuania are all members of NATO and Russian forces nor Putin want a war with NATO yet.
This is what I know. If Finland is being pushed into a stupidity by the US, something it avoided during the Soviet Union and decides to join Nato, then it should expect the worse. Nato is a criminal organization, and Russia will not allow threats on its borders. According to a foreign news site, all of Russians nuclear weapons are on the highest alert, and Pres. Putin and his Generals have now left Moscow to headquarters in the Urals. Not a good sign. Unlike some others in our sphere, to me Russia is: 'Mother Dear'. So if you try to break her heart and vilely try to grab a part, through devious means with lies and guile which as we know is your style, then also know you'll suffer ill and find it a very bitter pill. As others have who came before and didn't know what was in store for them. - Jeannette
I suspect it's to flood the news zone, confuse and feed drama/fear. I believe it serves the same propaganda purpose as the threat of use of Russian nukes.
By the US? You think US is the aggressor here? No, Finland sees a madman East of their border and they are seeking membership, and already entered a pact. Putin needs to be brought to justice in international criminal court and tried for his crimes. He left Moscow because he is a coward.
May be he's in his "secret" house on the Black Sea to enjoy lap-dancing shows and to play in his private casino.
How about a bit Russia's military headquarters have been moved to the Urals. As I said not a good sign considering that Russia will never become a lap dog for the US or the World Economic Forum with its Great Reset and its destruction of our humanity, faith and identity. The system they want to impose on the world, and which Vladimir Putin is fighting against, is nothing more than a control and power grab by certain elites to impose a non ownership communist system on the world, something Russia suffered under for 70 years and which they will not allow.
They hide in the mountains because they fear their own people will treat them like Mussolini was treated, - or how the Tsar of Russia was treated. Your hero destroyed his own country.
How about some reality, rather than the usual nonsense. Something serious is going on and maybe Russia doesn't know how the West will react to support their traitorous oligarchs - and it might be the reason the military headquarters moved to the Urals and its nuclear arms are on high alert. Are the oligarchs business' going to be nationalized? I'm saying this because in his speech yesterday, which was probably the most important one he ever made in his life, most of it had to do with a social adjustment. The fifth phalanx, the national traitors, the pro-Western scum Speaking at a meeting on socio-economic support measures for the regions, V.Putin argued that Russia should undergo "self-cleansing of society", in order to get rid of the "bastards and traitors". Putin said the West is trying to divide Russia and provoke civil confrontation with the help of its "fifth phalanx." "And there is one goal, the destruction of Russia," he said, adding that Russia will repel such efforts. "I am convinced that this natural and necessary self-cleansing of society will only strengthen our country, our solidarity, cohesion and our readiness to face any challenge." As he pointed out, every people, especially the Russian one, "is able to distinguish the true patriots from the bastards and traitors and will spit them out like a gnat that accidentally flew in their mouths." "The West failed to organize an 'economic blitzkrieg' against Russia, and now the world is witnessing the end of Western domination of politics and economics." "In the near future, social payments to Russians will increase, businesses will have maximum freedom," he added. "The West would impose the sanctions anyway, it was just looking for the occasion," he said. "The actions of westerners have also been a lesson for Russian businesses - there is nothing more credible than investing in your country," he added. Regarding the reactions that exist within the country, he said that "the Russian people will always be able to distinguish the true patriots from the scum and traitors and simply spit them out like a pit." The West is trying to break up Russian society, relying "on the so-called 'fifth phalanx', on national traitors, on those who earn money here, with us, but live there and 'live' not even in the geographical sense of the word, but according to their thoughts, in their slavish conscience." "I do not condemn at all those who have a villa in Miami or the French Riviera, who cannot do without foie gras, oysters or the so-called gender freedoms < ... > This, in their opinion, is a sign that they belong to (what they consider) the "superior caste", the "superior breed". Such people are ready to sell their mother only if they were allowed to sit in the hallway near this higher caste of people." The Russian people will always be able to distinguish "true patriots from scum and traitors and simply spit them out like a pit." "The Russian economy will definitely adapt to the new realities < ... > Of course, the new realities will require profound structural changes in our economy and, I will not hide it, they will not be easy, they will lead to a temporary increase in inflation and unemployment. In this situation, our task is to minimize such risks. Now the authorities must ensure the availability of essential goods and medicines, as well as reduce poverty and inequality in the country: "This is a very feasible task even today." Even under the sanctions, Russia has enough revenue and "the Central Bank will not have to print money."
They are already applying the same tactics they did against Ukraine before they invaded: Threats about joining NATO and claiming Russians are mistreated in Finland. IMO, its time for Finns to deport all Russians to make sure the commies can't talk about mistreatment. They don't belong there anyway.
I do agree. During all the time I worked in two different careers at Fortune 50 Gov't. Prime Contractors, the understanding never varied from one that "The Finns hate Russia's guts, and both of them have hated each other for over a hundred years". Moreover, it was well-understood that, "The Finns are the toughest, most formidable sons-of-bitches to be found anywhere in the world". And any Russian soldier who had the misfortune to come within sniper-distance of the border with Finland would be very lucky to survive the experience, even during quiet, sleepy 'peacetime'.... . The tradition of Finn sniper, Simo Häyhä, "The White Death", lives on in Finland today....
Yes, I read about that Hayha guy. He killed 500+ commies. I also read this book (below) about the Winter War, and maybe Putin should read it too before his next move. Molotov's Cocktail got its name during the Winter War, when the Finns named it after the Russian foreign minister Vyacheslev Molotov.
I don't think deportation would be a wise course. That would feed into the Russian disinformation machine and would be pretty complicated with generations of Russian expats living there. But they do need to make sure they can deter any Russian military adventurism aimed their way.
Unfortunately, and thanks to princess Diane, their were forced to get rid of millions of mines at the FIN-RUS border.
