A 2020 DOJ study in Texas.

It torpedoes all beliefs about the dangerousness of illegals and the xenophobic Republican agenda.

The study found that undocumented immigrants had substantially lower crime rates than native-born citizens and legal immigrants across a range of felony offenses. Relative to undocumented immigrants, U.S.-born citizens are over 2 times more likely to be arrested for violent crimes, 2.5 times more likely to be arrested for drug crimes, and over 4 times more likely to be arrested for property crimes. In addition, the proportion of arrests involving undocumented immigrants in Texas was relatively stable or decreasing over this period. The differences between U.S.-born citizens and undocumented immigrants are robust to using alternative estimates of the broader undocumented population, alternate classifications of those counted as “undocumented” at arrest and substituting misdemeanors or convictions as measures of crime.

Well duh, if someone is here illegally the last thing they want to do is draw the attention of the authority's.

They sound like great folks. Tell them to stop breaking our law by entering illegally, and enter, LEGALLY.

Who gives a damn if your house is on fire do you throw gas on it and say oh well it was just a little bit of gas?

They come here in violation of our laws and they have no problem breaking other laws such as identity theft.

I wish they would all go to Canada instead of choose the USA. How many would you take into your home?

And there was nothing remotely "xenophobic" about believing that people should respect our immigration laws and enter our country and the proper manner.

So you can stuff that back where you got it.

That's another common Democrat lie and form of disinformation. They pretend Republicans are simply anti-immigration altogether instead of wanting legal immigration.... I know it's hard but repeat after me... LEGAL immigration

Does any of this change the fact that they are here illegally?

The study itself shows that they DO commit crimes. If they hadn't been here illegally then those illegals that committed the crimes would not have committed the crimes that they did. That its lower than US born citizens is irrelevant. Just a talking point used to excuse allowing them to stay here illegally.

Staying in the country without permission is in itself a crime. Does this study take that into account? No.

How many of those illegal aliens use fake or stolen identities (both felonies)? Does this study take that into account? No.

For years the MAGA have been making us believe that illegals are invaders who come here to rape our women and so on...

How does it feel to know that US-Born citizens are so much more dangerous than illegals?

"Xenophobic" is a term fed to people to rebleat for the purpose of demonizing those supporting the reduction in violent crime your example represents.

Also, the cavalier attitude towards illegal entry ends up providing cartels with a steady stream of wealth to assist them in ruling with an iron fist back home. Factor in human trafficking, sex trafficking, forced servitude, and sexual assault on children and there is no way to defend a position of concern for humanity on that side of this issue.

    1. Most educated people will tell you that when you resort to name calling (xenophobic) it's because the argument was not intelligent and you've already lost.

    2. Ever heard of a thing called a passport? You need them when traveling across the borders of other countries. Xenophobic?

    3. Ever hear of customs? Every international airport in the world has a customs department where they check passports. Xenophobic?

    4. Ever hear of the health requirements for international travel, especially with the china virus still out there? Xenophobic?

    5. Your article doesn't mention the crimes of human trafficking, drug smuggling and kidnapping. Any particular reason why? Xenophobic?

    6. It's strange how the violent crime rate that was used was just for Texas. How do they measure up against the demographic that commits the most violent crime in this country? Racist?

    7. Non Hispanic White folks make up 41% of the population of Texas, do the math on who the likely criminals are. More racism?

    8. The report you cited is dated 12/20. The board's hall monitor is going to call you out when he sees this.

The libs are always crying about low wages… and yet they don't see the obvious connection between labor supply and wage demand.

Sorry but the fact that illegals commit crimes less than US-Born citizens is relevant. Especially since it negates the rhetoric of cons claiming that hordes of illegals are coming to rape and pillage.

    I support legal entry.

80% Of Central American Women, Girls Are Raped Crossing ...
"According to a stunning Fusion investigation, 80 percent of women and girls crossing into the U.S. by way of Mexico are raped during their journey."

Why does the Left insist that these rape routes remain open?

Rape Trees, where all the females illegally crossing are systematically raped by the coyotes and their underclothing thrown into the tree as a trophies.

Does not change the fact that they are here illegally. Does not change the fact that they DO commit crimes. Doesn't change the fact that if they were not here illegally those crimes that they did commit would not have happened. IE: The fact that they commit less crime than natural born citizens is irrelevant.

This would actually make sense as keeping a low profile would keep them away from trouble and the law.
However, there is a problem with illegal migration. Need the GOP and Dems to forge a solution instead of using it to play politics every few election cycles.

    Everyone supports the legal entry.

    That's not the debate.

The debate is that the Conservatives are demonizing illegals to increase xenophobia among their electorate.

Once that is done, they claim to be the only ones concerned about the security of the country when they have created a threat that doesn't exist.

The very study presented in the OP shows that your statement here is false. It dose not state that they commit NO crime. It states that they commit LESS crime. I also pointed out things that study did NOT take into account. And so have others.

We have terrorists, drugs, disease plus criminals coming across our southern border. One single terrorist can make up for all of the lack of criminals. The problem is that we do not know who is coming across our borders in the "got aways".

The most educated people in this country vote Democratic and reject the use of xenophobia as a political tool.

    https://www.pnas.org/doi/pdf/10.1073/pnas.2014704117

You only have to look for a study that concerns another state and see if it contradicts the Texas data.

How many terrorist acts have been committed by illegals in the last 40 years?

    Go find out.
