FREQUENT WEED SMOKERS AND MASS MURDERERS: Ron Kessler "makes a persuasive case for the proposition that the growing wave of states legalizing marijuana use is having two effects: First, the weed becoming available today is far stronger than what was common only a few years ago, and as a result, second, stronger weed contributes to increased mental illness and thus it’s no surprise to learn that many of the recent mass shooters were frequent smokers."

"President Biden and Democrats favor stricter gun controls when virtually none of the Democrats’ proposals would have stopped any of the mass shooters who have plagued this country in recent years."

Actually disarming felons is not the point of gun control for most Democrats. The felons are part of the Left's political coalition, whereas responsible gun owners, which commit 0.0% of the violent gun crime against others, are part of the GOP coalition.

"Virtually everyone ignores the obvious reason for the dramatic increase in these tragedies: Democrats push legalizing marijuana, which has become three to four times more potent than it was only a few years ago, and according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse leads to psychosis at a rate five times greater than among those who do not smoke pot not to mention the link between marijuana use and schizophrenia, paranoia, and other psychotic disorders."

Should red flag laws include a clean drug test?

"The potency of weed depends on the amount of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, the main compound responsible for the drug’s psychoactive effects."

"Potency increased from about 4% THC in 1995 to 17% THC." This is not you dad's weed.

"Marijuana concentrates can have levels of THC as high as 85% to 90%. By comparison, the marijuana level in a typical joint 20 years ago was closer to 5%."

"Marijuana use has been linked to more and more mass shooters, including the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooter who killed 17 people; the Aurora movie theater shooter, who killed 12; the Umpqua Community College shooter, who killed nine; the Texas church shooter, who killed 26 people; and the Pulse nightclub shooter, who killed 49 people."

Shooters need to be immediately drug tested even if it's post mortem.

"A 2020 U.S. Secret Service study of mass attacks found that nearly half of the perpetrators had a history of substance abuse, including with marijuana and illicit drugs."

It's important that we look at everything and remain open to any strategy that can help stop the unlawful use of guns to harm others.

If these shooters also drank alcohol, would that mean that alcohol contributed to their motivations to commit mass murder? What if they liked fast food? What if they watched anime? What if they liked driving fast in their cars?

This whole thing seems like quite the stretch trying to pin this on Democrats because some Democrats support marijuana legalization.

Do you have any idea how many people consume marijuana in one form or another in this country? Compare that number to the amount of mass murderers. With such loose correlation and the obvious partisan slant, literally any commonalities between these shooters could be said to contribute.

You've got it in reverse. Drug users aren't murderers. Murderers partake in drugs.

A prime example of correlation is not causation.

You have no idea. There is no causation without correlation. There is zero correlation between lawful gun owners who have a 0.0 felony violence rate against others, do you support encroaching on their rights to obtain and carry firearms, under the guise of preventing unlawful gun violence against others?

In the state of Colorado, at one point, they forced people to choose between marijuana rights and gun rights. Those who registered for a card that allowed them to legally buy recreational marijuana were legally prohibited from owning a gun.

Im not buying it. Why are you focused on marijuana when the majority of mental illness is treated with pharma products that diminish ones perceived value of human life? They even list "suicidal thoughts or actions" as side effects.

I'm not ruling out anything. There are stronger associations with a number of things than the ownership of firearms by law abiding citizens.

There have been numerous studies. MJ smoking before full brain development which occurs at around twenty five results in permanent brain damage and they tend to be more violent later in life.

There have been numerous studies and in the end the results have been inconclusive, and on an anecdotal level I've known a lot of people over the course of my many years who have smoked weed before they were 25 and they never suffered any brain damage or became more violent later in life.

I find that "argument" no more convincing than the nonsense that the Second Amendment and owning a firearm somehow makes people more willing to commit murder.

Weed smokers don’t go around shooting up places, they watch Netflix and make snacks.

I recommend you google "mj use by youngsters". There is nothing inconclusive about them. Only denial by users.

No on weed restrictions and No on gun restrictions. Children need to be protected by restricting their access to things. Not adults. The answer is to expect people to make the right decision ...and let them suffer the full consequences when they dont. Of course it helps if we educate them better. Teach kids everything there is to know about things that can hurt them- like weed and guns, so they can make decisions as adults from an informed position.

I have been known to have a choof from time to time. I am also an avid gun rights supporter.

At no point have I even contemplated violence.

Indeed, I see these two issues as mirror images of each other for the left and right.

Legalize all guns and drugs, now there's a platform!

What’s important is to not support the legalization of drugs. The black community also does drugs at a higher rate than any other demographic and guess what… They commit the most murders.

    Drugs should not be legalized

That’s called legalized. If you’re talking prison terms I also fully support prison for the illegal distribution. I will never support drugs. I have seen what they do to people.

Be careful you don't start with acceptance of anti-marijuana propaganda.
