It appears yet another former general who was recently fired by Putin has died from an "accident" just two weeks after getting fired. No word on how he died but my money is on falling out of a ten story building like so many others in Russia. Also Pregozin and Wagner group are now officially on the outs with Putin. Putin has banned them from recruiting from prisons (the Russian army will now form forced prisoner units) and all mention of either Pregozin or Wagner Group is now forbidden on state run media. The dictator never wants anyone to be more popular than he is.

 

I reckon Putin is just throwing away his civilians to the meat grinder on the front line as an entire marine 5,000 man battalion got slaughtered in one day while in Vuhledar as reports were the Russians are forcing their conscripts to charge en masse into heavy enemy fire. At one point, all the Russians on the battlefield jumped out of 30 vehicles and ran towards the Ukrainians in surrender. Evidently, Putin really has no loyalty amongst his men as long as he makes sure his wagner and generals keep a gun pointed at his own soldiers at all times to force them to die on the front lines.

The audio is garbled at times, but the emotions are unmistakable.

“I am being taken to be shot. I lost a lot of people there. Remember this: do not send more people here. It’s enough, they want to kill us all.”

It is the last message Viktor Sevalnev would send. A convict, who had been in jail for armed robbery and assault, he was sent from prison to fight for Russia in Ukraine. After most of his colleagues died in an assault on a factory outside Soledar, it was the act of survival that proved fatal to Sevalnev.

In a last message to his wife, he said he feared officials from the Russian Ministry of Defense would soon take him from his hospital bed, where he recorded the audio message, and execute him. Days later, his body was returned to his wife in Moscow, in a closed coffin.

Sevalnev’s callous fate joins a growing list of complaints of abuse from convicts whom CNN has spoken to. For months, Russia has been using the shadowy private mercenary company Wagner to bolster its frontline presence with prisoners – a scheme at first denied and secretive, but then openly promoted by Wagner’s owner, Yevgeny Prigozhin.

However, Sevalnev and several prisoners CNN has spoken to seem to indicate a disturbing new strategy. They say they were directly employed by the Russian Ministry of Defense.

A Russian military bomber engineer drove up to the U.S. Southwest border in late December, asking for asylum and offering to reveal some of Russia’s most closely guarded military secrets, according to an unclassified Customs and Border Protection report obtained by Yahoo News.

The man and his family arrived in an armored SUV and asked to be admitted into the U.S. because he feared persecution for participating in anti-Putin protests in support of Alexei Navalny, an imprisoned Russian dissident. He then told CBP officials that he had information wanted by the U.S. government.

He said he was a civil engineer and that “his past employment had included working ... from 2018 to 2021 in the making of a particular type of military airplane at the Tupolev aircraft production facility in the city of Kazan in west-central Russia,” according to a Jan. 11 unclassified CBP report obtained by Yahoo News.

I think Ukraine may have been using the Starlink satellites to perform the deep strikes into Russian territory and possibly Crimea. Starlink satellite dishes con be installed on and work on mobile platforms. However, Elon Musk does not want them turned into the guts of a guided missile. I agree with his viewpoint that Starlink should not be used in this way. The U.S. has many missiles it can provided to Ukraine which would work far better and if Elon Musk continued to allow Starlink to be used in this manner, he would fall afoul of not only Russian but U.S. law.

The U.S. military should be providing Ukraine with guided missiles - not Elon Musk or Starlink. While I do not always agree with Mr. Musk, I don't think blaming him for Ukraine military not having guided missiles or communications is helpful. The U.S. military has plenty in storage to give them.

 

Watching the anti-Russian fanatics and lunatics experience a collective meltdown when Kiev's military inevitably collapses is going to be epic. Can't wait.
