The sure way is to seek God for confirmation. Practically speaking, Jesus said: " Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them." Matthew 7:15-20 This way of measuring is not only a practical guide. But it shows the forthrightness, honesty, and grace of Jesus Christ himself.
Child molestation seems to be the recurring christian theme the last few years. Rarely does a day go by without a story about a church affiliated type like a youth pastor or priest or even bishops and such making the news for molesting kids or owning child porn.
And that's relevant to a "happy marriage" how? You seem to only be interested in changing the subject of the thread.
And? I don't worship the church, I worship God. Christian values are sound. That some church clergy don't honor those values is a personal failure for them, not the church.
I do follow Jesus to the best of my abilitiy. We are all sinners...all sinners have a future and all saints have a past.
So the left supports genital mutilation of children using drugs or surgery. This is both a recurring theme and a crescendoing theme. Raily does a day go by without some liberal demanding that small children be sexually mutilated or groomed in public school starting in K-3. And you are here with outrage about christians? lol
Obviously, news about abuse is not showing that it's a value held by Christians. If anything it shows SOME Christians don't live up to the values of Christianity. You've had your time to derail the thread. I won't be helping you any more.
You've not shown it isn't a "christian value". We rarely if ever see the church condemn these offenders, what conclusions are we supposed to draw from that?
I want to know exactly what the wording is of the questions on this survey ( don't want to download that thing) that lead the author of the OP to believe this measured 'christian' values as opposed to Muslem values, or Hindu values or simply the values of fidelity and celebacy before or during marriage without connecting either to a faith or its lack?
The question is what government's role is in that. Do we call social services to take kids out of single parent families? Do we make it harder for these families? Do we shun single fathers? Do we make laws against divorce? Do we make laws against sex outside of marriage? Do we work to make life harder for those who aren't heterosexual? Does that increase happiness? Anyone can spend some time to identify ideal circumstances. For example, I'd like skin color, sexual orientation, different religions, etc., to all be accepted in society. We'd be happier if we didn't have people shooting each other, too. So, Mormons are especially focused on supportive family environments. I'm in favor of that. But, the ideal is NOT the real world, and denigrating people who are doing the best they can is EVIL. Parents increase happiness and success by being supportive. Our society needs to encourage that same kind of support for its members.
