2024 will mark the end of Trump in politics via one route or another: He dies He loses the election He is imprisoned Congress declares him ineligible for office He wins In the overwhelmingly unlikely possibility he wins, he's immediately a lame duck with an unfriendly Democratic congress. won't be able to govern and won't be able to run again... So what's next GOP. Used to be the VP or VP candidate would step in to lead. But Mike Pence? MTG? Mace? Seriously? Who will step in to lead the GOP after 2024?
I'm pretty sure this is the POLITICAL OPINION forum and not the PERSONAL FANTASY forum. I think you might be lost.
Everyone Dies eventually. Trump is facing 90+ felony counts and over 400 years of prison time. The list is the things that can happen. At least one of them will happen. But in any case, Trump is done, as a political force, in November. Seems this makes you uncomfortable.
You are correct that the Dems will play politics (just as the Repubs would) and not work with Trump should he win in '24. And people wonder why I don't like ANY politician. They are all a bunch of petulant children.
Seriously? No one on the GOP side is willing to speculate on the After Trump GOP? My prediction then: The GOP will collapse entirely. I see no one in the party commanding sufficient support within the party to claim leadership so... Let the intra-party bloodbath begin. Never Trumpers Actual Conservatives MAGA Trump loyalists... They will attack one another with the same hate as they've attacked Democrats over the years. If there is a "last man standing" he will be so bloodied and damaged as to be worthless except in strong GOP areas. With Trump loyalists reigning over the Party's finances they're beno money for candidates and donors will dry up in the face of the animus and uncertainty. By 2028, the GOP will cease to exist as a serious political force in this country. Good riddance to bad trash.
unresponsive and GOT READING? Why is it you are incapable of discussing the actual topic and ar trying so desperately to derail it?
You’re the one derailing. I merely expounded on what YOU mentioned in YOUR OP. You know…the whole part about Trump being a lame duck due to an unfriendly Dem congress. Remember that? It’s in YOUR OP. Cheers!
No.... strictly speculative "what if"..... "What if" Trump in not convicted of any of it?..... "What if" The House and the Senate are both won back by the Republicans?...." what if" unicorns were real... "what if" Howler monkeys flew out your butt, would you howl? "what if"
I could argue that the Republicans have a strong bench to have you predictably respond by exclaiming that they are weak. I could point to it being the Democrats having a weak bench to have you predictably respond by saying they are strong... But naming people at this point is irrelevant. If we look at the historical record of all recent Presidents... Nobody would have guessed in 1988 that Bill Clinton would win in 92. In 1996, Bush had just won his first term as governor so he was not yet a frontrunner for 2000. In 2003, Obama was not yet a Senator so despite having given a good speech at the 2004 convention, few if any would have projected him to be president in 2008 In 2012, nobody would have ever dreamed that Trump would be President in 2016 In 2016, nobody would have guessed that Biden would be brought out of mothballs to be President in 2020 With all of the above, the trend is undeniable, there is zero value in predicting in 2024 who will win the presidency in 2028. Odds are, whoever you or I are thinking will not be the one. I reject your entire premise on the basis that 4 years is a lifetime in presidential politics, thus it is a waste of time making predictions this far out.
I also mentioned "imprisoned" don't see you there. why are you afraid to discuss the premise of the OP?
One or more of those events WILL HAPPEN. I didn't speculate on which because the premise is not about Trump but about what happens in the GOP after Trump. Why are you afraid to discuss the actual premise of the OP?
Unresponsive. This is not about Trump but what happens in the GOP after Trump. Why are you afraid to discuss the actual topic?
You mentioned quite a few scenarios. I didn't realize I was compelled to comment on every one of them. Others haven't commented on all of your scenarios yet I noticed you haven't chastised them. Huh....go figure. Not sure why you have such a hard on for me. But if you want to keep derailing your own thread it doesn't affect me one bit. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I did answer the question. You implied you think they won't have leadership and I answered that they could make ANYONE a leader and even gave an example. (this is how people communicate). Also, very very funny for you to tell me "this is not about trump" when "Trump" is in the first sentence of the OP. I'm looking VERY forward to your next reply
Why is it you're afraid to discuss the actual topic, "what happens to the GOP after Trump." Does the thought of a post-Trump GOP frighten you so much you refuse to conceptionalize it? The ONLY relevance whatever happens to Trump has to this discussion is its impacts on the GOP when Trump is gone. For example, Trump is convicted and rolls on a few hundred top level Republicans. What impact on the party Trump dies with no VP selected, what happens in the GOP Congress declares Trump ineligible for office, how does this impact the GOP. It's not about the what, it's about the WHAT'S NEXT?
I did discuss one of the topics YOU brought up. Not sure how you missed it. I'm not in the habit of discussing lots of "what if" scenarios. The scenario I commented on WILL happen should Trump win, which is very likely.
The ONLY topic is what happens after Trump. Continued attempts to derail the thread will be reported.
I did but it appears you are having an issue comprehending that. I answered it. They will find a leader after Trump. It took like what, 2 days for a reality TV show star to become the main GOP guy and you think that can't happen again after trump? I answered your question in 6 different ways, you just fail to see it because it seems like you'd rather argue than make progress. GOOD DEMOCRAT!
