How can EVs wipe out our auto industry, if they are not competitive (according to the RW)? This doesn't make sense. If the Chinese would want to wipe out our auto industry, why don't they do it by making cheap, but good ICE cars?

In any case, tariffs won't do a thing to prevent this. They will protect the US auto industry in the short term, while China monopolizes the worldwide car market and floods it with cheap EVs. Then, the US will be stuck with their dinosaur ICE cars in the past, while the rest of the world moves on to the modern energy economy, powered by China.

The answer to this is not tariffs, but competing on the world wide modern energy market. There is an opportunity for the US, but, unfortunately, the regressives will hold us back with their backwards thinking.

And the exact same thing could be said of tRaitor tRump, if he win's he can fly around on AF-1 while the Heritage foundation and Project 2025 run the country.

True? Or, do you feel as I do that if tRaitor tRump gets reelected he will NEVER give up power as long as he lives?

    But to the "Blood-Bath" comment.

I get what the Right is saying about context. He had been talking about Chinese Manufacturing Plants being built in Mexico. Then said:

"That's if I get elected. If I don't get elected it's going to be a blood bath for the whole .. that's gona be the least of it, it's gonna be a blood bath for the country."

That's where Fox news cut it off. I think it can be taken either way but as former NY Senator Calucci point's out the remarks came in a speech that started out claiming the people convicted and jailed for participating in the January 6th attack on the Capitol are hostages. So is it going to be a blood bath for the auto industry or "for the whole country" if tRaitor tRump doesn't get elected?

I agree with you 200%(I haven't seen you make political comments. Though this would change I bet if I knew anything about Australian politics.) But yes, the big companies as well as the unions in them, are responsible for their current situation.

I believe it's long time to liquidate them, and allow new upstart companies to take their place.

Everyone knows what Trump was referring to. This is an easy one to prove how Democrats manipulate their base.

    Not really;

"That's if I get elected. If I don't get elected it's going to be a blood bath for the whole .. that's gona be the least of it, it's gonna be a blood bath for the country."

That's a direct quote from a Maria Bartiromo's Fox News program. What tRaitor tRump said could easily be taken either way.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. Conservatives are known to be violent. It comes from the Nazi teachings. If violence is necessary to change a regime then that is what they will do. They already tried on Jan 6.

A growing demand/market/plug-in stations for EV’s was inevitable, and if not the U.S., Europe and China.

    Trump wants to remain pro-combustible.

Looking at this Fox clip, this is how Fox lies and lies and lies. It's no wonder that their viewers live in an alternate reality. Just one example, the host claiming that inflation wan't global is one point out of the many lies just in the first 2 minutes of the clip. Or, claiming that Biden isn't coming out of the basement. At least, she corrected the Republican guy that the stock market IS in fact currently booming. It's brain swashing through and through, I don't know how people can not notice this while watching it.

You mean the bill that gave more money to Ukraine which has WTF To do with our border? And the same bill that still allows an insane number of illegals to keep flooding into the country. The ONLY bill that is worth signing is one that I creass security at the border with the sole intent to STOP people from entering and deporting those that already have. Thsts it.

The Democratic Party is at war from within. If Biden doesn’t stop Israel which he will not be able to do the communist wing of the Party will destroy Party both politically and with violent riots. We will see this before November 4.

To provide some meat to the partisan mudslinging: Here is what we'll have to deal with:

    https://electrek.co/2024/02/23/byd-launches-new-dolphin-ev-14k-price-war/

Yes, you read it right, an EV with a 187 mile range for under $14 k. Now, tell me that there won't be demand for this kind of car as a daily commuter at that price.

Now, Trump can propose a 100% tariff on it (that won't happen, btw). Or, one could incentivize US car makers to actually make inexpensive EVs. It would be possible, because EVs don't need a transmission and have a very cheap engine, compared to the ICE car. The only think that is more expensive is the battery, but prices for LiFePO4 batteries are coming down rapidly. They are now already cheaper than lead acid.

This is a fork in the road. The US could try to protect the old-fashioned ICE car industry with tariffs (it won't work), or, we could adapt and compete. Unfortunately, partisan politics is holding us back. However, tell me that even the most hard-liner EV-hating conservative would not take a hard look at this BYD EV car, if it would save them a lot of money.

Immigration will take care of itself if Americans stop hiring illegals to work for peanuts. The word would soon get out and the illegals would think twice about coming.
But nobody wants that and Americans are too pampered to do the work illegals do.

Um we have moved on from that. Our government is now giving them free housing and free gibs. This is one of the major reasons that the black vote is flocking to Trump. I keep seeing stories about Chicago blacks incensed about illegal aliens getting in the free gibs line in front of them. If you are against giving illegals jobs, surely you must be against the Democrats giving them free gibs and housing.

The bill that limited immigration to a rate higher than it currently is? I sure hope he buried that one. We need to reduce immigration, not just pass a useless bill.

a bill that stopped people from being able to claim asylum, then wait years and years her to get approved or not, thus basically letting them in

Republicans do not want to solve the immigration issue, it's their issue now

It doesnt sound like you actually read the bill.

It only stopped that when the daily limit reached a number that is double what our average daily immigration is now. Anyone who was not allowed to enter on a day that limit was reached would have to wait til the next day.

Thats not a solution to anything.

it also increased processing speed, so people could not stay for years before the decision made - republicans wrote the bill

I think that we should inform the world that immigrants will no longer be able to get private jobs or government benefits if they come into the country illegally.
If that was done, the influx of illegal immigrants would go way down.
But that only addresses part of the issue.

That isnt the primary problem. The primary problem is we're letting too many people in. Increase processing speed with a bill that also reduces how many people get in (and preferably screens them for people we actually want vs criminals, economic leeches and foreign operatives). If it doesnt at least solve the primary issue of too much immigration, then its not really an immigration bill.

We have to start somewhere, so by standing as all or nothing, we have no change, and still getting that overflow.
