One must have residency in the US for 14 years. In article I it requires only 7 years of Citizenship to be a Rep. Next question.
you stated "natural born citizen" can't be legislated. I then pointed out that there can be no such thing as "natural born citizen" since citizenship is defined by LAW.
I already showed you the answer hawaii gave me. why would I call? you don't believe hawaii's govn't website, nor the email reply from the DoH. Are you seriously telling me you would believe me if I told you I also called the DoH and they confirmed what has already been proven to you?
Do you honestly expect anyone to believe that was a real email exchange. Call and ask the name of the person you speak to and ask your question. Come on, this is not that difficult. Any adult can do it.
I don't care in the least if you believe it's a real email exchange. The simple fact is that you can't refute what hawaii states flat out on the official govn't website. Your only arguments is..........."nuh uh"
Then why haven't you? You keep challenging everyone else to go call Hawaii yet you have yet to demonstrate or even claim that you yourself called or spoke to anyone. Bock, bock, bock.
Lets assume the people saying that doesn't make him a natural born citizen are right. Is that something that should happen anyways? If I was born in Mexico while my parents were on a 2 day vacation from California I could be President? Despite the fact that they would have gone back to California and I would grow up there for all of but like the first day of my life. (Note, the above story didn't happen and is theoretical) Then I'd just call bull crap. Screw that law, update it to not be stupid.
Not to mention he initially posted the claim on 2/21/11 and said he "just called." When it was pointed out that he couldn't have "just called" because 2/21 was a state holiday and no one was there to talk to, he changed his story and said "just called" meant "called two months prior."
Now that is a snappy come back. Humorous, intelligent and constructive in moving the conversation forward. Oh and of course dodged the question of why NB hasn't called Hawaii himself. I wonder if he just can't afford the long distance bill?
Under the law you would qualify as a natural born citizen. But the Constitution doesn't say one has to be. It says either a natral born Citizen or a Citizen.
Your use of large font only screams your minimal understanding. See, at the time the Constitution was ratified there would have been people born here or somewhere else. They did not want to exclude their friends born in the Old World from qualifying for President. Also notice there is no expiration date on simply being a "Citizen." People like Hamilton wanted to put an expiration date in Clause 5 but he failed in making it happen.
I have to agree with NB here. the phrase you are taking out of context is "citizen at the time of the signing". Since there wouldn't have been any "born citizens" that could be eligibile to run for POTUS (35 years) the exception clause needed to be written. Not just any citizen can be POTUS. only a born citizen. naturalized citizens(like Arnold) can't run. It's stupid, but that's the law of the land currently.
In 1787 all adults were original citizens or foreign national sojourners. To prevent General Cornwallis from fathering a child with an American woman and staging a coup by having his son elected to President, only natural born citizens could be President.
