You need to make money to spend it. Or are you one of those people who "leeches off the system" and doesn't make any money of your own to spend?
Are you serious? I have never leached a dime off of the government. My state government in Michigan once promised me $4,000 for college ($1,000 a year) due to excelling in school... and I never got a dime of that money... it ended up going to fund more welfare programs. I've always worked. I've watched the liberals in college sit around and do nothing... use food stamps... are on pell grants... and (*)(*)(*)(*)(*) and moan about having no money.
We were living within our means in the late 90s. So why did we cut our revenues and increase spending?
Why would you take government money? You hate the government. Money for education is stealing from others to fund your education.
Everyone accepts government services. You drive on our roads. You accept our police protection. You visit our parks. You enjoy products subsidized by us. Don't pretend to be high and mighty. You live in the same rich society I do. Bought and paid for by the US government. You couldn't survive without the government. Just because I accepted food stamps and pell grants doesn't make you any better than me.
Instead of working... you chose to be a leach off the government. My tax money from my hard work went to fund your food and free education.
the republicans are responsible for this. THINK about it.http://www.rollingstone.com/politic...wall-street-crimes-20110817?link=mostpopular3
Oh no...you had to help fund your fellow country man's education! How horrible! If I thought I could handle a job and school I would have. School comes first and I don't regret my choice to go onto a government aid program that I qualified for. Not one bit. I'm not lazy. I absolutely love my job right now. I wish they could afford to give me more hours over the summer. Unfortunately I'm probably going to have to cut my hours even more once school starts. I might even go back on food stamps if it becomes difficult to afford food again. Though my apartment is awesome and offers free Ramen Noodles to tenants.
Please help me fund my car. It has been at least as useful to me as your education has been to you. I'll PM you my PayPal addy.
No but I'll gladly pay for the roads you use to drive your car. Or the police you use to keep the roads safe for you to drive your car. Admit it. You wouldn't have anywhere to drive if you weren't leaching off government services.
Uh ,because Democrats are controlled by Far Left & Gay Mafia & push Diversity at any cost (Including implemitting Socialism ) and Democrats in General are Anti-America because of it's Racist Bigoted Homophobic Imperialist Colonial Past and they want to Change the American Flag due to that .
Since I pay for these services to the tune of several hundred times what you pay, I think your post is in error. In fact, if you want to use the descriptor 'leeching', you fit that description far better than do I.
Where was my help for school? I was not eligible for pell grants... I worked. I didn't use food stamps.
So you are a member of the Pass the Buck Generation. Cut my taxes and let the next generation pay for my Govt. You and about 100 million other Americans. So what. You want a medal?
If what you told me was true and your parents are not assisting you then you should have gotten pell grants. It's a shame they don't even consider that some parents refuse to help their children through college. But the fact that you didn't use food stamps was your own choice. You probably would have qualified.
You don't even pay a penny on the dollar of what those roads and services cost. You rely heavily on the rest of the tax payers just like I do.
Too simple- a little bit too simple. Do you agree we need welfare programs. Or in other words, are you for or against people dying on the streets? Do you plan to opt out of recieving the socialist Social Security when you hit 67? Those extra tax dollars go to support systems we need, as we are a first-world nation. And who had the biggest tax hike in the past fre decades? "I would be a Democrat today" Ronald Reagan.
That isn't leeching. It's contributing - and more than you do. Feel free to retract your untrue statement.
I contribute by going to school and preparing myself to be the next generation to run this country. I just want you to admit you rely on government services as much as I do. And if I don't have a right to government services neither do you. I pay every penny of taxes that I am asked to. That gives me the right to use any government service I qualify for. Same for you.
You: A student. Compared with Him: A taxpaying worker, are polar opposites. You take far more in government services than him, it's not even close. College subsidies, foodstamps, pell grants, tax deductions for tuition on top of all the services he uses clearly puts you far in the lead in using government services. If he actually owns his house and you rent (which I assume you do) he pays more than you do since he pays municipal taxes, which cover your garbage removal, sewer, road cleaning, etc. Since he has a job in which I assume he pays the standard rate in taxes, and you obviously have enough deductions to where you don't pay taxes (or at least get a substantial amount back) he not only uses 'less' but pays more. I know your arguement is going to be "In the future I will be paying more taxes because of my education" but we've had this debate before and I highlighted how that might not be true because you are not earning an income or climbing the occupational ladder during your EXTENDED stay at post secondary education. I also highlighted how someone who worked that time period can actually end up paying more taxes. I don't like alot of the inflammatory and deroggatory remarks that are made to you by your opposition, but your points are not valid and they make your position very hard to defend since you attempt to set yourself on an even level with those who have worked hard for years to attain what they currently have. Your position is based on entitlement and you are unable to see that although it may not be wrong, it certainly is different and you should respect that others are supporting you.
You can not be serious. Republicans don't want all the reckless spending. You know you can save more and spend less at the same time. That's the problem with the government operating things. Who is the government to decide how much money my parents are going to give to me? It's bull(*)(*)(*)(*). Everyone should get the same amount. Scholarships should be completely merit based... no more racial or government deemed need based scholarships.
Some of you people seem to think that "Income Taxes" are the only source of revenue for the Federal Government.
Oh I know more than 50% of every dollar I have goes to taxes, after all taxes are paid and I own the thing; most people don't.
The point is to make sure everyone has an equal chance going to college. Like any man made program it has it's flaws. But unless we're just going to make college completely free I don't think it's fair to give everyone the same amount of money for college. Some people do need it more. Personally I think college should just be free. Including living and eatting expenses. Having a well educated population is a very valuable thing. Everyone should have a shot at going to college. That doesn't mean we should allow people to go if they can't cut the grades. But money should never be a reason not to go.
