Let's say your neighbor's black wife next door is violently raped while being called "Ni&&er". The next day, another rapist comes and rapes your wife, not mentioning any race at all while equally violently raping her.

The British Empire was responsible was a lot, good and bad because of how hugely powerful it was. Its power was driven by positive technologies and inventions that have benefited the world as well as negative ones. Its wrong to paint the British as an evil people who do not deserve to survive as a people because many British have been good people with positive influences on their world. Alexander Fleming (Penicillin), Wiston Churchill (Made sure the British stayed in the fight when Britain stood alone during 1940 after the fall of France), James Watt (steam engine condenser), Alan Turning & Charles Babbage (Computers), Alexander Graham Bell (Telephone), John Logie Baird (TV) or the Barons who forced the signing of Magna Carta for examples.

There are many examples of good British and as far as empires go the British empire was not the worst given its size and power. Regardless, I'm not one to blame an entire people for the actions of their leaders and certainly not in any society where the common man had little say in the actions of the leadership. Even today in our modern democracies we don't have much control over what leaders do in our name. So I don't believe what is happening to the British today is a case of Karma like you suggest or on the flip side good deeds not going unpunished as I don't believe the average British person today or in the past is any less or more evil than the average anyone else.
