I'd be willing to bet the "separatists" came from Russia, too.

What's to say that the Russian "separatists" wouldn't shoot down a commercial airliner that they mistook for a Ukrainian military transport?

Obviously, the "separatists" thought they had a propaganda victory on their hands, but when the jet turned out to be a commercial airliner full of innocent civilians they ended up with a PR disaster on theirs and Vlad the Invader's bloody hands.

they killed Gaddafi because he dared to have built a Scandinavia out of Lybia (only without taxes of the former) the West is jealous of others success.

So are the people they are taking orders from in Moscow.

I wish you and your people success. I wish our government would do more for your country, but our president is a spineless coward.

It happens all the time in war zones. Even the most skilled professionals can wind up killing their fellow soldiers in "friendly fire" incidents. In this case the mistake involved an airliner that the "separatists" thought was a military transport.

This is exactly what I believe to be the case. My big question is how were the people who ran the system trained and were their trainers still there. My guess is it was a crash course and they were just shooting at blips not thinking about civilian traffic (honestly why would you it's a warzone). Sad but it makes a lot more sense than a ground attack plane shooting a small IR missile up an extra 10k feet and that missile somehow trashing the entire plane rather than just taking out an engine.

If they were Russians firing the missile, you have a point. If they were pro Russian Ukranians, they likely had no experience other than what they had gained since Russia recently provided to them the missile system.

that's a jet fighter shooting ground troops, but an air target... although the Ukrs had already shot down a commercial plane in 2001 flying from Israel, but this could have only stepped up the attention of any other military deploying in that area afterwards.

even if they had downed that plane, it was done unintentionally, without knowing that was a civil plane, and the current mass hysteria in the West is an insult to everyone - the victims, the rebels, the public.

Most in the West think the separatists shot it down by mistake. That is and insult?

I bet $10, that eventually the rebels will admit they shot it down by accident, thinking it was a Ukrainian transport, but will blame Ukraine for invading and attacking them.

not in itself but the insult is that 'most of the West' came to thinking so by the anti-Russian campaign in West media conducted for yet another time around.

wise you made sure to lose so little because the rebels are unlikely to admit to anything now that stood accused in advance.

    U.S. CASE

Kerry said the United States had seen supplies moving into Ukraine from Russia in the last month, including a 150-vehicle convoy of armored personnel carriers, tanks and rocket launchers given to the separatists.

It had also intercepted conversations about the transfer to separatists of the Russian radar-guided SA-11 missile system, which it blames for the Boeing 777's destruction. "It's pretty clear that this is a system that was transferred from Russia," Kerry said in an interview on CNN.

"There's enormous amount of evidence, even more evidence that I just documented, that points to the involvement of Russia in providing these systems, training the people on them," he said on CBS.

Kerry's evidence of a Russian connection tracked closely with an official unclassified U.S. intelligence summary released over the weekend. It said intelligence analysts confirmed the authenticity of an audiotaped conversation provided to the press by Ukrainian authorities of a known separatist leader boasting of downing the plane.

"We also have information indicating that Russia is providing training to separatist fighters at a facility in southwest Russia" that includes missile systems, it said.

We'll never know exactly who shot that plane down, or under who was working the one who pressed the trigger, or who was behind both of them. One thing i know, " incidents " like this always benefit the interests of both the contendants...
